  1. Agree to disagree, but that last bit is not entirely accurate. The money will just be thrown at different areas.
  2. This is definitely what the data seems to point to, by my understanding. But I think when all's said and done, the changes would ultimately lead to less overall funding to the police. Not more. Maybe more in some areas, for staffing purposes. https://www.joincampaignzero.org/
  3. There's no reform in this plan, so it wouldn't solve anything. There's some very good, data-driven information out there that points to which parts of police funding can be reduced, maintained, or increased. In a perfect world, politics plays no part in it, but we all know that's not the case....
  4. I mean, yeah. That's what I've been saying. It's weird that this isn't reflected in your previous posts, then. Have you just been trying to stir the pot?
  5. "Defunding the police" is a nuanced argument and the bargaining that takes place around the matter should hopefully lead to a favorable outcome for both sides. A realistic one. I doubt very many people actually want social workers alone responding to their calls. Try talking to any real person...not just the sensational headlines. Published 4 hours ago... https://www.washingtonpost.com/national/shooting-in-seattle-protest-zone-leaves-1-dead-1-injured/2020/06/20/92dc4560-b314-11ea-98b5-279a6479a1e4_story.html
  6. That's a sensationalized take. Both were immediately taken to a hospital. They have trained medical people already in the area. Investigators were let in to work the scene after the fact. Without knowing the facts, it seems unreasonable to blame certain people except the actual murderer who pulled the trigger.
  7. If you followed that conversation, you can see that I said those shooting would've probably happened regardless. The stories you posted seem to prove my point. Being black families, I'm willing to bet they've already been out protesting about the issues affecting our poorer minority communities.
  8. I think in reality, the people 3rdnlng was referring to (those who want to completely get rid of our typical first responders, apparently) are few and far between...
  9. link? How many shooting crimes?
  10. Of course...glad to see you're remaining objective
  11. Right. I'm willing to bet members of the victims' families have already been protesting.
  12. Obviously, its not about just avoiding the rally. Its also avoiding anyone who went to the rally. Keep an eye on the pictures to see if you can spot any seemingly at risk people....... ?
  13. Yeah, that's true. But I think they handle it the same way as everyone else who's going back to work. Wear PPE and keep their distance.
  14. No, I think most players are just going to stay isolated during the season and accept the risks. They're not a high-risk demographic, anyway. Crowdless games seems like the inevitable scenario.
  15. The nonchalant attitude towards the virus/mask-wearing in Arizona has been its undoing. They're trying to react now by enforcing mask-wearing. Too late.
  16. There's no way the virus doesn't spread here. The real question is what the actual impact will be.
  17. Yeah, a lot of players train in Florida, AZ, CA, TX...it's probably best to exercise caution.
  18. Where do you live? Let's look at the stats.
  19. Media We collectively love it and encourage it
  20. I don't disagree. But we also have an increasing problem of letting sensationalized stories drive rhetoric like that. No, this is what's been happening regardless.
  21. Not my problem if you can't take criticism. This instance was not the wage. That's the point.
  22. Unfortunately his is a sad reality. Best to put on ignore.
  23. Anyone binging Watchmen for free on HBO this weekend?? Tulsa is the stage of the show. It's pretty great.
  24. Considering a person died and another could likely die, this seems a bit insensitive. In these times, we should be holding tighter to our humanity, not letting it go. Considering the nature of the hit, it seems targeted. Probably would've happened one way or another. There was a shooting last week down the street from my house and we're in an area still heavily policed... go figure.
  25. This is honestly a little disturbing
