I think some regimes have turned teams around faster in terms of being contender-level. You think of Pederson and McVay recently....
But McBeane have always been building for long-term sustained success. A Belichick, Tomlin, Harbaugh type mentality towards the team culture and personnel.
I don't think these types of turnarounds are rare around the league. They're definitely rare for individual organizations.
I agree with others that it's likely Beane still would've drafted Groot.
Having Watt in this DL rotation would've been sick. Last I saw, I think he's top 5 in pass rush win percentage.
They basically swapped Davis and Jones. The physicality of their receivers hasn't really changed.
It is a valid concern, though. I've always dreaded facing the Steelers, Titans, Pats, and Ravens simply because they're the most physical.
Yep...well, 3 guys covering the 4 receivers. The only way to stop it would've been if someone on the defense recognized it and shifted the backfield to give the Bills a numbers advantage on that side. I feel like they did the right thing by standing up the blockers so that Kelce would be forced inside to Klein's gap.
But they were 1 yard out, so there was really no stopping it without a pre-snap adjustment.
If you can fault Edmunds for anything on that, I guess it's not making the adjustment. But I'm not sure if the Chiefs have put that particular play on tape. They do have an array of shovel pass plays at their disposal.
Honestly, there's not much of anything in that article. He didn't like being called up to play? He thought his OL coach was too pushy?
If this guy was a Bills player, he'd get roasted on here.
Base will always be nickel or 4-2-5
I think they'll stick with 5-2 or 4-2-5 to defend the run game, but it wouldn't hurt to have the extra LB in there. I'd rather have more of the young DLs in there than AJ Klein, not that he's been bad at all.
