  1. Listening to WGR the last couple of days has led me to believe that had been told than any criticism of the Bills will lead to them losing their broadcast contract at the next renewal. Here are just a few of the comments/excuses they keep going with: Our losses are all to elite QBs, meaning Eli and Dalton have been elevated to elite. non-stop whining about the referees non-stop whing about injuries. discussion about how good the defense looked against the titans. Shutting down callers that pointed out the Eagles trashed the Eli led Giants Shutting down callers comparing the dolphins performance against the titans to the Bills Shutting down callers who suggest that the Falcons and Jets don't seem to be suffering "growing pains" from regime change. Claiming any disappointmentss in the performance so far are just a result of overly ambitious expectations. Three and three isn't a disaster and I am not in the camp calling for firing anyone. But the team has been underwhelming and two games out of second place in the loss column in the division in week 6 is pretty disappointing.
  2. You make some good points. I think it is harder for teams to game plan for taylor though.
  3. What sucks is that it is not quite halfway into the season and expectations have to be so drastically re-calibrated. Before the season started, it seem plausible that if the team got decent QB play (which it has) that it might be able to compete for the division championship. We are three games back in the loss column and would likely lose any tiebreaker with the Pats, so that hope is pretty much shattered. It is much harder to get charged up about doing that math on whether or not I have to give a crap about whether the Browns or Broncos win a game. If we win out through week 10, including beating the Jets, I will be fired up. A loss to the Jets will be crushing.
  4. I thought Fitzpatrick was horrible. Tyrod healthy is much better.
  5. Bills lead the NFL in two categories. Penalties and three and outs. These are the primary reasons the games have been so painful to watch. So it feels half empty to me.
  6. I understand the sentiment that "you have to resign your own players". I really do. Except that it really isn't true. CJ Spiller, Jairus Byrd were both talented players who performed well for the Bills whose cost just exceeded their market value. Dareus had a very good season in the Jim Schwartz scheme and his market value probably shot up to near where the Bills resigned him (we did pay full price though). The problem is that in the Rex Ryan scheme, DT is a really low value position. Dareus can execute perfectly what he is asked to do, and his role just isn't worthy of being the highest paid player on the team. I am not sure what was the last championship team whose first or second highest paid player was a DT. It seems like Ryan and Whaley need to communicate better on what positions mean the most in the schemes on both sides of the ball are.
  7. the problem is that we weren't remotely competitive against any of our quality components. And we struggled to get by a terrible titans team.
  8. Rex is the perfect compliment to Brandon and Whaley, three brilliant self promoters.
  9. I think we can all agree that this the best coached most talented 3-3 team in NFL history. Whaley has put everything together better than anyone ever has before.
  10. Hard to blame scheme on Mario not winning one on one battles or Hughes boneheaded penalties. Talent is over rated. Defense stats last year were colored by teams not having to score more than 20 to win most games.
  11. The team lacks a true star on defense this season. Dareus has regressed. Kyle is on the other side of the hill. Mario isn't worth anywhere near 100 mm. Hughes penalties offset any positives. The secondary and linebackers are very NFL average at best.
  12. Harvin out is an example of quality depth at a position. Better to have Watkins and Harvin heal than playing injured. We have plenty of good WR's going today. McCoy playing is an example of player playing through an injury because of depth issues.
  13. If Sammy is out again this week, has he given the coaches any instructions on who should get his 10 targets?
  14. Taylor has been good protecting the ball. He only throws downfield to WIDE open guys. that is why Hogan has 12 catches in 13 targets. Sammy thinks he is open 90% of the time. The short guy behind the collapsing line of scrimmage is seeing a really tiny window he can't hit. Worse case scenario is that TT or EJ start trying to force the ball to Sammy and throw interceptions. Teams implode over that crap. Best advice to Sammy. Be quiet.
  15. MIght be the RGIII of receivers. Incredible talent. Strange attitude. Hard time staying on the field.
  16. The Bills are the epitome of the "any given Sunday team". They can beat any team in the league, and any team in the league can beat them.
  17. Two Rapid Reactions. 1) 3-2 is better than 2-3 2) two very poor showings in a row is not good.
  18. Your pretty touchy. Never ceiling. I actually used the phrase "right now". And overall completion percentage is not the same thing as long or medium range accuracy
  19. If he had been on the Bills roster there is zero chance he would have been hurt in last nights Seattle-Detroit game.
  20. He is sort of unique. His numbers are very impressive so far. But I am left with the impression that he is totally reactive rather than able to dictate the play on the field. I think a boxing analogy fits for describing my view of him, he is a very good counter puncher, but he doesn't really have the ring generalship to dictate the play. I think "elite" players at any offensive position are the players opposing teams have to really game plan for. Right now I feel as though teams can play whatever they feel as though their "best" base defense is against Taylor and expect to not be exploited. In terms of comps his best analog right now is Colin Kaepernick. He is smaller, his arm isn't as strong. He is faster. I feel as though their mid and long range accuracy is similar.
  21. Was he gaining forward progress, or was he being held up and dragged by the guy in front tugging on the ball, there is a difference.
