  1. The Bills are one of those teams that never makes the playoffs. The quintessential team. If you hired me as GM and gave me 6 years, I would probably make the playoffs more often than Whaley has.
  2. Whaley has 6 years with the team. His contribution has us at 5-6, 5 1/2 games out first, in third place in the division. He is nothing special at all. There are dozens of NFL staffers that could step in and do the same.
  3. Exactly. DT is a low value position. No more important than safety. Clown organizations like the Dolphins spend $100+ million plus on that position. No credible teams do. No one is trading anything of value for Dareus. His contract makes him of little value to anyone.
  4. No team handles time out and challenge management as amateurishly as the Bills. This coaching staff and GM are doing their best to keep the team as a laughingstock.
  5. Taylor is better than Manuel Whaley is a better GM than Russ Brandon Ryan is a better coach than Dick Jauron The key to success on the Bills is making sure that the benchmark of comparison is really really low.
  6. After every win we are required to have a thread discussing Whaley as GM of the year. And I see a fair chunk of people looking at our third in the division position (5 1/2 games out of first) and discussing playoffs. So I am just wondering if any 5-6 team has ever been better?
  7. Doug Whaley has been senior management for 6 seasons. We have played 10 games. We are five games out of first. We have zero wins against teams with winning records so far this season. Should someone start another GM of the year thread?
  8. We need to start a movement. I suggest we go with #BillsPlayoffsMatter
  9. The GM of the year is the GM of the team that wins the Super Bowl. If that is the Bills, then Whaley is definitely GM of the year.
  10. Until the Bills win a playoff game I will be skeptical. First today's games had some great positives: 1) Taylor's ability to take care of the ball is excellent. If he continues at his current pace, the Bills have a playoff caliber QB. 2) Watkins put some pressure on himself running his mouth, but he fully backed it up. 3) Running game looked good over all. But here are the concerns. 1) game setup couldn't have been better. Two weeks rest at home. This won't be repeated. 2) Penalties were a nightmare 3) We benefited from some horrendous calls when the game was still in doubt. The non-grounding on Taylor, and the non-called hold on the Taylor TD bomb to Watkins effectively decided the game. 4) Bonehead calls by a rookie coach. Going for the TD at the end of the half and not taking the penalty to force the Bills to try a field goal were a full seven point swing. No seasoned coach makes those decisions. 5) A two point spot and an extra possession in the first quarter. This will never happen again. Until the Bills beat a team that is going to the playoffs, I will remain a skeptical optimist.
  11. I dont know if we should extend him, but he should get 6.75 targets per game.
  12. Well if we had selected all of those we stiil would have had Wilson, and been able to trade the other for Draft picks (we probably wouldnt have taken Geno). I think right now most teas would trade 1 second (Smith) a third (Mallet) and two firsts (Gabbert and Tebow) to get Wilson. Especially wilson on a rookie contract. So I am not sure why you think that would have been bad.
  13. This is a results business. Rex is failing to meet expectations. Whaley is failing to meet expectations. At some point it doesn't matter why they are failing, They either get it change the results, or the team needs to move on from them.
  14. Tyrod has only a small sample size, with some good results. But one part of the small sample is that he has missed 28% of his starts. That isn't good enough over the long hall.
  15. The Bills don't seem to be one or two aging offensive lineman away from being a championship team in 2015. We are best holding on to our picks.
  16. Like the Bills the starting QBs for all of the other 31 NFL teams were acquired in the draft, by trade or via free agency. 11 Starting QBs were drafted before the Bills had a chance: 1 Philip Rivers, QB SD 2004 2 Eli Manning, QB NYG 2004 3 Ben Roethlisberger, QB PIT 2004 4 Matt Ryan, QB ATL 2008 5 Matthew Stafford, QB DET 2009 6 Cam Newton, QB CAR 2011 7 Ryan Tannehill, QB MIA 2012 8 Andrew Luck, QB IND 2012 9 Blake Bortles, QB JAX 2014 10 Jameis Winston, QB TB 2015 11 Marcus Mariota, QB TEN 2015 9 were either traded for or signed in free agency. To the best of my knowledge the Bills did not pursue any of these opportunties 1 Tony Romo, QB DAL 2005 DNP 2 Jay Cutler, QB CHI 2009 DNP 3 Peyton Manning, QB DEN 2012 DNP 4 Carson Palmer, QB ARI 2013 DNP 5 Alex Smith, QB KC 2013 DNP 6 Sam Bradford, QB PHI 2015 DNP 7 Josh McCown, QB CLE 2015 DNP 8 Brian Hoyer, QB HOU 2015 DNP 9 Nick Foles, QB STL 2015 DNP 11 Were passed on by the Bills in the draft. (Note I am including Aaron Rodgers here because the Bills traded away the opportunity to draft him so they could pick JP Losman in the prior draft). This table shows who we drafted instead: 1 Andy Dalton, QB CIN 2011 Aaron Williams 2 Colin Kaepernick, QB SF 2011 Aaron Williams 3 Aaron Rodgers, QB GB 2005 JP Losman 4 Geno Smith NYJ 2013 Kiko Alonso 5 Tom Brady, QB NE 2000 Leif Larsen 6 Joe Flacco, QB BAL 2008 Leodis McKelvin 7 Drew Brees, QB NO 2001 Nate Clements 8 Derek Carr, QB OAK 2014 Sammy Watkins 9 Teddy Bridgewater, QB MIN 2014 Sammy Watkins 10 Kirk Cousins, QB WSH 2012 T.J. Graham 11 Russell Wilson, QB SEA 2012 T.J. Graham Nothing new here, just a summary I haven't seen before.
  17. The final determinate is management. No one running the Bills since 1999 has been able to build a playoff team. Whaley has been with the team since 2010. At some point Mr. Pegula need to determine if Whaley is part of the problem, or the solution.
  18. Whaley has been here six years. How many years will it take for his expertise to build a champion?
  19. The last three drafts they drafted Manuel and Watkins and no one. . Their collective production so far this year is lower than the collective production of the 2010,11,12 picks you mentioned above. Its not really close.
