The RInger Pre-season Power Rankings..... 31!!!!!
PlayoffsPlease replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You else besides the Jets, do you place as clearly worse than the Bills. Of course, personally I don't see a big difference between being 13th and 32nd. -
You could have pulled a random poster off of this board to handle the drafts and had better outcomes. Nice summary.

This is how epically bad we are.

I thought Whaley was a terrible choice from the get go. Its clear the new guys don't care for the talent he selected. Sadly the fact that the old regime was clueless does not mean the new regime has a clue. I really am not that impressed with Carolina overall. -
The Golden Age of Football is Over?
PlayoffsPlease replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Football is going the way of Boxing. 70 years ago everyone in the world knew who Joe Louis was. 40 years ago everyone in the world knew who Muhammad Ali was. 30 years ago everyone in the world knew who Mike Tyson. Now even die hard sports fans have don't know who the heavyweight boxing champion is. No one cars. It is no longer an elite sport. -
Lets face it we are headed into a season where none of us are sure if the Bills are going to be Super Bowl contenders or a complete **** show. We were not going anywhere with roster or coaches we had. We might not with the new crew either. But at least it is interesting.

Its more like having a second year former first round pick with less NFL experience than all of his peers from his draft. -

The redskins won super bowls because of Riggins and the hogs. That can be said of virtually no other running back. At his peak Riggins was unstoppable. -
You should probably let Belichek know you have done your analysis, and that his practice strategy is all wrong.
-
There is a lot of room to be better than Ryan/Marrone/Gailey and not nearly as good as Bellichek.

This is not a rebuild, folks...

Seems to me the opposite of rebuild is "same old Bills". Kind of disappointing if that is the plan. -

Teams that have a championship core, like the Patriots, Seahawks and Steelers, don't rebuild every year, they reload. There is a difference. The Bills don't have anything resembling a championship corp. They don't have an identity. They are in search of both. These are the things that separate the teams that are "built" from those that are building. -

I think we saw the extent of his marketing genius with his complete failure to sell tickets in one of North America's largest cities. If he was even competent let alone a genius, he would have sold out games in Toronto. -

Really? A plan? A very weird plan to to wait a couple of years to fire your entire coaching staff, the GM, and all of the scouts. Very very strange plan. -

The only team as dysfunctional as the Bills this Century have been the Browns. It is so bad they fired the GM, the entire coaching staff and all of the scouts. And you don't "understand the negativity"? The only thing we know about Beane and McDermott is both are rookies to their new roles. And they are different than the last guys. No one knows if these guys will simply illustrate the Peter Principle or if they will lead the team to multiple Lombardi trophies. While there is nearly two decades of reasons to be negative. There is literally nothing but unproven change to be positive about. Don't get me wrong, I am in favor of change. But that is a thin reed to hang excitement about the season on. And being able to list off a couple of stars and a half dozen decent NFL players on roster is something you can do for pretty much all 32 NFL teams. -
What makes you say the future looks bright? Many of our best players, McCoy, Williams, Woods, Cognito are on the downsides of their careers. I don't have any for or against Beane or McDermott. But we really don't have a pool of proven young talent that we can expect to get better just by "aging" for a couple of seasons.

It doesn't really matter if you agree or not. I simply posted 10 facts. They are still true facts even if you disagree. Eli and Wilson and Flacco in their too. I guess it suggest that good teams find both a coach/QB combo that can win pretty quickly, if they are ultimately going to be super bowl champs.

2017 - New England Patriots - Made it to the playoffs Bill Bellicheks second year as head coach 2016 - Denver Broncos - won the Super Bowl Gary Kubiak's first year as head coach. 2015 - New England Patriots - Made it to the playoffs Bill Bellicheks second year as head coach 2014 - Seattle Seahawks - made it to the playoffs Pete Carrol's first year as head coach 2013 - Baltimore Ravens - made it to the playoffs John Harbaugh's first year as head coach 2012 - NY Giants - made it to the playoffs Tom Coughlin's second years as head coach 2011 - Green Bay packers - made it to the playoffs second year as head coach 2010 - New Orleans Saints - made it to the playoffs the Sean Peyton's second year as head coach 2009 - Pittsburgh Steelers - made it to the playoffs Mike Tomlin's second year as head coach 2008 - made it to the playoffs Tom Coughlin's second years as head coach For all of those who are saying we need to wait four or five years to see if McBeane has the right stuff, recent history suggests Super Bowl winners are coached by coaches who get their teams to the playoffs the first or second season they coach the team. But hey in the 60's and 70's things were different, so there is that.
