THE ROCKPILE REVIEW - Limited Excitement
PlayoffsPlease replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Allen really needs a couple of extra ticks of the clock. It takes time for 30 yard routes to open. Allen will be able to make defenses defend more of the field than anyone else in the game. It will be criminal if we don't get a genius at OC to maximize this weapon. Daboli isn't the guy. Allen behind a very good oline will be a force to be reckoned with. -
The open question is who is Monty.

Josh Gordon to be released-now traded to PATS

Why does anyone posting on this board think they are smarter about football personnel decisions than then New England Patriots? -
Is there any team in worse shape than the Bills?

But those were different turd pickers than the current pickers. -

If I had to move to Cleveland, I would take a pass. I like Allen better than Mayfield. But it is a no brainer to swap defenses even up. -
This will cause coniptions. But right now he is the most exciting player in the NFL. No one has a gun that is even close. And he isn't afraid to fire. If Brady is Gen. Omar Bradley and Manning was Gen. Eisenhower, Allen is going to be our General Patton.

Lighten up Francis. The pot comment was in response to an inane comment about the times that liquor stores open on Sundays. -

recreational marijuana is legal in Mass. now. -
Throwing to WR's who can get separation is a lot easier than throwing to WR's who can't.

A huge part of his charm is that he is willing to own the dumpster fire. You can see in his mind, that he is going to will the dumpster fire to score touchdowns. Very Brett Farve like. Very Jim Kelly Like. He would be the perfect person for Nike to use as its "just do it" campaign.

Your description of Allen's play is spot on perfect. Better than any sports writer has grasped what they are seeing. -
As they say , you get what you pay. The Bills oline is the worst in the league I suspect in part because it is the cheapest in the league. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/positional/offensive-line/ On the flip side, the Bills spend more on RB's than any team in the league. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/positional/running-back/ Those wide receivers, once again, the Bills are dead last in spending on WR's. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/positional/wide-receiver/ The entire defense is right about average spending across the league. They don't seem to be above average performers. The Dline is top 10 in cost. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/positional/defense/ I think the McBeane secret sauce is a plan to roll over the entire roster with the exception of about 5 guys in the next 2 years.

The cap situation McBeane inhereted

That would be interesting to see. I would be shocked to see a big discrepancy among the teams. -

Not fooled. Do a count. The Bills don't have any more youth than any other team. The salary cap forces all teams to load up with the maximum amount of rookie contract players than can. -
What to address first in 2019

1. Center 2. Tackles 3. Guards 4. Slot receiver 5. High end tight end 6. Kyle Williams replacement. I would be happy to spend the entire draft on offence. Winning games 34-31 is fine by me. The teams strength is Josh Allen. Amplify that as best we can. -

You miss the point. You claimed in an earlier post the Bills are a "young team" and will get better by gaining experience. But it is just factually inaccurate that they are younger. In terms of existing talent, based on the first two weeks, the Bills have the worst talent in the league. The facts are we are older and worse than almost every team. -

Riddle me this batman. 27 teams have an younger roster than the Bills. How do the Bills gain on the 27 younger teams by gaining experience? Won't all the other younger teams actually be gaining more experience? Or is this like the Nate Peterman experiment spread across the entire roster - our experience will be better because we are facing more adversity having our butts handed to us over and over again? -

A bit pompous. The Bills have the fifth oldest roster in the NFL. It doesn't have any more "young players" than the average team. That part of he apologist narrative does not stand up to scrutiny. -

Do you have any thoughts on what this means for Frazier? Or any thoughts at all? -
McD took over defensive play calling in 2nd half

From this story: In other defensive developments, McDermott took over playcalling duties from defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier in the second half of Sunday's game. "I just felt like we needed a spark," McDermott said. "That's my background. Coach Frazier does a really good job, as well as the defensive staff. I just felt like we needed a spark." McDermott said he would evaluate the playcalling situation and "a lot of other things" after the loss. http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/24703207/buffalo-bills-cb-vontae-davis-abruptly-retires-football-half-vs-los-angeles-chargers -

McDermott took over play calling duties for the D in the second half. What does this mean for Leslie Frazier?
