  1. not trying to pick a fight. But in 10 years, there is no particular reason to think in the era of free agency he is any more likely to be in Buffalo than on any other team.
  2. Or there is not really a concept of culture that is separate from head coaching talent. I think if you have an excellent HC and a Excellent QB, you automatically have the "culture". I think if your HC is separating culture from his own responsibility, what he is really doing is creating an excuse.
  3. They also did manage to stay competetive for the 20 years between bradshaw and roethilisberger with such standouts as Bubby Brister, Neil O'Donnel, Jim Miller, Mark Malone and Kordell Stewart I don't think business world culture translates to NFL. “Sure, luck means a lot in football. Not having a good quarterback is bad luck.” ― Don Shula I am going to update that with my own version “Sure, a winning culture means a lot in football. Not having a good quarterback results in a bad culture.” ― PlayoffsPlease
  4. I am not trying to pick any fights and don't want to complete dismiss this idea of culture But does the Steelers culture collapse if you change out Rothlisberger for Dobbs? No one has provided an example of a team with a "winning culture" without a hall of fame QB. The only modern example I can think of is the Joe Gibbs redskins era. But Gibbs was a genius, and QB was not quite the dominant position it is today.
  5. The Steelers as an organization have had success across three head coaches, Noll, Cowher and Tomlin. But it should be noted that prior to Bradshaw's arrival, the Steelers were bottom dwellers in the league for many years. And that in between the Bradshaw era and the Rothlisberger eras, the Steelers struggled quite a bit. With only the two data points of the Steelers and the Patriots, it seems as though winning culture would be defined by having superior coaching and superior QB play. It seems like without both, there may not be some concept of "culture" that can substitute and lead to winning.
  6. Coach McDermott has said his emphasis is on building a winning culture. Some fans have mocked this. Other fans have defended the teams current level performance as being a necessary step on the road to building the winning culture. It seems as though people struggle to define what comprises this culture. I am not asking that question in this thread. I am simple trying to have a discussion about which teams have the winning culture the Bills should try to emulate. Thank you for your feedback.
  7. The analysis is rather poorly designed. It is also rather poorly executed.
  8. pass wass behind the line of scrimmage. No PI
  9. Ironically, the Bills seem to desperately need a better WR coach.
  10. It’s clearly between the Giants and Jags, right? I’m not putting Kap in Buffalo, because A) I like him and B) I don’t want ANYTHING spoiling the raucous comedy going on right now with the Bills. It’s killing me that Nathan Peterman is still on that roster. They started Derek Anderson Sunday and watched him drown, and when they needed a life preserver they realized the only one they had available was Nathan ***** Peterman! Amazing. That situation is perfect as is, and I don’t want anyone messing with it. Funny, because its true.
  11. The packers have had a two prong philosophy for a couple of decades 1) Brett Farve 2) Aaron Rodgers
  12. This line cut the deepest: "Jon Gruden has caught plenty of richly deserved ***** for his complete dismantling of the Raiders this season, but at least he got multiple first-round draft picks out of his bumbling. All McDermott has is two crappy young quarterbacks and an even crappier old one. He’s doing great work"
  13. The wide receivers do not get open as well as the WR's on 31 other teams. That is a huge problem. They drop the ball more often than pretty much ever other set of WR's as well. It is possible that Daboll can't draw up plays to get receivers open. But anyone watching football games without the benefit of all-22 sees WRs getting wide open all the time quickly.

  15. For all we know he was hanging outside of Case Keenums apt, and Case so a chance to eliminate the competition.
  16. And a name change from the Buffalo Bills to the Buffalo Vontae's
  17. The theme is, they get torched by excellent QBs, who take advantage of the Bills aggressive gambling defense.
  18. The current regime inherited a roster and cap situation that was not conducive to building a championship caliber team. They did the easy part, they tore down what was there. They seem to be struggling with the next part building it up. If Josh Allen turns out to be an excellent QB, then then they have accomplished the most important part. If not, it is a reasonable question to ask if they are the correct regime to assess QBs. I really like Allen. But we do know they passed on a couple of guys, in Mahomes and Watson.
