i just heard a dolphins reporter on the radio here in Dallas doing a preview for the dolphins cowboys game.

He said in reference to the bills cowboys game that if the dolphins run the ball like the bills did it will be game over because the dolphins can pass the ball....

yikes. The media in Miami is as arrogant and ignorant as their fan base is.

What an ignorant post. The Bill had absolutely no reason to pass the ball. And if the dolphins can run it the same, they won’t have a reason to pass either.

unless he’s talking in the season the he is even dumber. Let’s see the dolphins actually play a competent team that can actually play good offense and defense

  2. Dorsey was a terrible OC. I was happy he was promoted to OC with the departure of Daboll. But the second half of last season was pretty evident that he did not have the ability to be a good OC. It looked like our offensive scheme was to let josh go out there and make things happen.

I had seen enough of Ken after last season and wanted him fired because we can’t keep wasting Josh’s prime. I really thought when we brought him back that was a mistake. But I also thought he should be on a short leash in the very least (didn’t seem like he leash was short enough). He should have been fired after the patriots game this year. At that point our offense was lower middle class and wasn’t really doing much to help out our team.

It’s funny, Ken may go down as one of the worst coaches the bills have ever employed save Kay Stephenson and some other old farts I have no clue about. I’m only 30

I think taking the ball first statistically gives you the best odds of winning.  Sure the other team gets a chance to posess the ball and it would be nice to go second so you know what you're up against.

But what happens if both teams score a touchdown? Then the first team gets the ball, and now all they need to do is score a FG to win.  The other team doesn't get a chance to match the FG.

Also,  lmao at thinking OBD is following this forum.

That’s why I say take the ball second and go for two to win it instead of giving it back to a defense that is gassed / hasn’t been able to get any stops

That's always been a problem for the Bills, particularly playing late in the season.  Also it's a short week to begin with, not counting losing almost a full day with the flight.  I remain confident about this game but I do have nagging worries that those problems will start to bite.  It's so important that the offense gets some first downs early in the game, and if possible scores early, to keep the Chargers from any real hope of an upset.

I feel like it’s easier to go west and play than it is east.

  5. I don’t want to put the cart before the horse, but I have a feeling some individuals at One Bills Drive reads this board and pulls some info from here. Maybe not coaches, but people close with decision makers.

Anyways, with the new OT rules created post 13 seconds for the playoffs, I can’t imagine a scenario where you would ever want to receive if you win the toss.

All the advantage lies with the kicking team. If you get a quick stop and force a 3 and out, you probably end up with good field position and the chance to win the game on a FG.

If you’re defense is gassed and has been getting gashed all game, like we were in 13 seconds and the Eagles game this year (second half), then it allows you to maybe get lucky with a stop or a turnover. And if the opponent ends up scoring a TD, you know your team also needs a TD. On top of that you have four downs on each set of downs as well. If you score a TD, go for two and end the game without having to put the onus back on defense (control your own destiny so to speak).

Does anyone have counterpoints to this?

Reason why I bring this up is because I think we’ve all seen how it seems as though the kicking team has the advantage in OT this year. On top of that, we suck in OT under McD. Hope McD picks up some pointers and can apply them if we are fortunate enough to make the playoffs.

  6. On point number 6. I definitely agree with Rapp. Dude scares me to include for our own players safety.

Dodson being penalized was unfair I thought. Dak was still running and looked like he was about to cut inside. I mean he barely started the slide process and he was basically on top of Dodson. QBs, if they want to be protected, need to slide to allow an appropriate amount of space and human reaction time to the defender.  Same thing goes for QBs running out of bounds.

    Oh, my, Cincinnati.

So first of all, does Jake Browning (who?) putting up like 70% completion and close to (or better than) 300 ypg passing in like 3 of his 4 starts, make one think differently about Burrow and how much of the Bengals offensive success is actually resting on their system and their 3 great WR?

I mean, here's this guy who's been playing "left bench" for 2 1/2 seasons with the Bengals after kicking around on the Vikes practice squad for 2 years, and he's lighting it up.

I have no idea how we let Cincinnati beat us, unless the team just had collective PTSD from the Hamlin incident.

I expect them to walk over the Steelers, and can only hope that KC and the Browns give them Hella Fight.

Jake Browning also got very lucky on essentially a Hail Mary to Tee Higgins. If the defender in the area made a competent play on the ball that wouldn’t even be a TD. I think Browning will come back down to earth when browning is asked to go toe to toe with a competent offense

Letdown games in the NFL are a real thing.  Guys are human.  Bills need to avoid it somehow.  Chargers will play hard they were embarrassed.  Bills have experienced their share of losing this season to inferior opponents so hopefully lesson learned.  Be very careful with the football.  Only carelessness and turnovers would ruin this game.

Can’t afford anymore let down games.

I also like Dallas at Miami.  The sidelines shots late in the game were telling. They were humiliated. Their manhood was stolen. They were pissed and i’m sure will have one helluva week of practice.  They will be out to prove they can beat a good team on the road, and Dallas is better than what they showed today, obviously.

I hate to say it, but their penalties definitely turned the game in the bills favor early. The roughing the punter, roughing the passer and the hit on Shakir. Any of those aren’t called, totally different game IMO. That’s how much impact the refs can have on a game

  10. Zay Jones can finally catch. Wish he did that for us against the panthers back in 17.

Trevor Lawrence wants to be a playmaker but doesn’t have any elite trait. Doesn’t help when he leaves points on the board

Great point. Absolutely nothing to complain about. No trolls or negative Nancy’s tonight.

Some hand wringing in the playoff odds thread though.

Playoff thing will work itself out. As long as we win out that’s all we can do. I’m not concerning myself with all The scenarios because there are too many.

  12. The fact this thread only has 11 pages 2.5 hours after the game shows that fans dont have anything to complain about (refs, playcalling, etc)

So I’ll complain. Wish Cook caught that TD cause he deserved it especially on that drive.

This was such a good game because the coaches basically stuck to what worked and didn’t try to get tricky and make themselves look like the smartest guy in the stadium. Just kept running Cook.

I was actually surprised not a single holding call was made all night. Feel like that is pretty much routine for us to see 2-3 a game

If the Jags lose tonight, they are now in real danger of falling out as well. They have to be careful as both Houston and Indy are right there with them.

Still the favorites for sure but they have Baltimore tonight, @ TB who is playing for their division, Carolina(easy W) and @ Tennessee at the end of the season. You would think 3-1 there but I could easily see 2-2

If the Bills win out they wont need any help, they will be in for sure whether as a divisional winner or a WC. If they lose 1 to go 10-7 lets say to Miami, then we need a bunch of different scenarios to play out.

Are you sure. I thought talking heads are saying we need help to get in
