  1. All you guys on this board and your women debates make me laugh. Women are women, some are beautiful, some not so much. Some cities just have better plastic surgeons than others.
  2. I have no clue if Gronk actually ever said he wouldn't have liked playing for the Bills. However, it's not implausible that a Bills fan would feel that way. There is a difference between being a fan and wanting a successful professional career. No one wants to work for an organization that has a reputation of being a loser. Why would Gronk? What would Gronk have amounted to playing with Trent and Fitz?
  3. I agree, but people need to think deeper. Sadly this rarely happens. Obesity can burden society, but there isn't much we can do about without instituting draconian measures. In reality everything we do kills us a little each day. I hate to sound like a hippy, but all the food we put into our bodies is crap. Food has been on the decline since we moved away from being an agrarian society many years ago. I say if you want to enjoy Chick fil-a or whatever other garbage, go for it. I would just encourage those with a desk job to exercise once in a while. This is a big cause of modern obesity that few mention. People are too physically inactive these days.
  4. Right on. Gronk is a great representation of the typical Buffalo guy. My grandparents are from Buffalo, and I only go back to visit family. The first thing I remember noticing about Buffalo as a kid was how Neanderthal like most guys are.
  5. Gronk seeks to have been allotted the right to be Gronk. 99% of the other players would get destroyed by the meaning for acting like Gronk.
  6. That's all great information. I sincerely appreciate you thoughtful post. However, what can anyone do about it? I love fast food, and I don't have any weight issues. I don't want the government steeping in with some crazy fast food tax. People need to make their own healthy choices. My greatest fear is the government getting their grimy paws getting all over our health choices. Health care does suffer as a consequence of obesity without question. The government loses millions of dollars because of it. If everyone became a healthy weight tomorrow would my taxes go down? I'm sure they wouldn't, the government would just find something else to waste money on. There is also a flip side. How many people are employed in health care fields due to unhealthy habits? America has continually dwindling (eventually close to none) good paying industrial jobs remaining. Health care is a huge industry. Peoples poor health habits actually benefit many. Ultimately there is a positive and negative side to every issue out there. I simply don't lose sleep over obesity. It is very low on the list of things that impact my life.
  7. I'm with you. I know it's blasphemy around here, but I don't hate the Pats as much as I should. All I can do is tip my hat to them. I have a far more passionate hate towards the Cowboys. As far as Gronk is concerned, I couldn't care less about him one way or the other. His meathead shtick grows old imo. He'd be the greatest tight end without question if he could stay healthy. I do get the feeling that he doesn't care much about Buffalo. With that said, what Buffalo native wouldn't be happy to be on a winning team?
  8. I agree. Women and body weight can be weird. Men don't have babies. I know lots of women who eat well, work their a**es and are still a bit large. When it come to extreme obsity that's another story. I just don't understand why people worry about other people. If you are overweight (you're fault or not) that's you're issue. It's not my probelm to worry about. Making dumb statements that women in Buffalo are "cows" is slightly uninformed, and I feel the need to call such ignorance out. My point was that I don't understand guys who feel the needs to make these comments. That's why I said I hope the guy is ripped. There's a good chance the majority of us guys here don't have a healthy BMI. Have you ever seen the standards? They are quite low. In fact very few NFL players have a healthy BMI.
  9. People like you just see what they want to see. It gives you a dumb narrative to find more stuff to complain about. Last time I checked obesity was a huge problem across America. It's also largely based on socioeconomic status. Plus it's a lot easier for women to put on than it is for guys anyway. This has always been the case. I'm sure you're ripped.
  10. Great post. We are all here because we are Bills fans. We are undoubtedly a biased group because of this. Football teams aren't all that important in the grand scheme of things. How many people moved away from Houston because the Oilers moved? Outside of team employees I'm sure the answer is zero.
  11. Exactly. Nothing more to say. I can go to a restaurant or casino any time I please. Twenty dollars at the casino will last for one minute. That twenty dollars could have gotten me beer. I'd rather watch thousands of drunken maniacs in the parking lot. Isn't it more fun to hang out with your friends tailgating than sitting in a restaurant?
  12. Not in the NFL because I wouldn't want to pay the price it cost to watch a game at a new stadium. I only watch the game. I don't see how a new stadium would enhance my experience. I don't have club suites, and I don't desire fancy in stadium cuisine or nightclubs. I would go to a new stadium to watch a football game, the same thing I do at older stadiums.
  13. I can't wait to see how many guys do something stupid hanging out in LA before the combine.
  14. Welcome to the future of America with the demise of the working class. All over the country cities have a combination of upper class families and meth heads passed out in the gutter. There are still many who reside somewhere in between, but it's continually fading.
  15. I agree. You are using sound logic to prove that there is no need for a new stadium. Especially one built on the backs of the taxpayers. The issue is that the NFL owners all want new stadiums across the board. That's why sound logic is missing from this debate. The sole purpose of new stadiums are to squeeze more cash out of the fans. This makes it hard for me to comprehend why anyone would want a new stadium in Buffalo.
  16. I would like a new stadium because traditions form? That means football is more important than the stadium. So tell me again why I would benefit from a new stadium?
  17. I enjoy New Era Field, so yes it is a waste. I wouldn't enjoy a new stadium any more than New Era. In fact probably less. Tailgating would be dead, and I wouldn't enjoy the actual game any more than I do now.
  18. Most of what you said is correct. However, just because waste happens doesn't mean we should condone more waste. Your viewpoint seems popular around here. I just don't fully understand it. Waste is ok when it's something we like? I don't think that it should work that way. Lastly, you're saying you don't enjoy games at New Era? I don't like the sound of more expensive tickets and tailgating as we know it ending, while taxpayers foot the bill. How is that an upgrade?
  19. Really? I could see making an argument against golf as a sport, but soccer? I won't put anyone down for hating soccer (still not sure where I stand) but it fits every definition of the word sport.
  20. You're right in claiming that taxes are wasted in many areas outside of football stadiums. I don't care for any waste of taxpayer dollars. The issue with building a new football stadium is that it's a blatant in your face waste of tax dollars. The Pegulas don't need financial help, and we don't desperately need a new stadium. You state that private/public sector partnerships are needed and beneficial. That would be my issue with funding a new stadium. It would be neither needed nor beneficial. We don't need a new stadium, and economists have proven that new stadiums aren't financially beneficially to cities. New Era Field is a fine place to watch a football. Aside from tailgating that is the reason I attend a game. What do you more do you need than a seat to watch the game? Other stadiums simply have amenities that cater to those with an elitist mentality. We don't need that in Buffalo. We have no purposes for insanity like the Cowboys art gallery. If any fan says that New Era Field isn't good enough, I would tell them to quit trying so hard to be yuppie. Keep in mind that several years ago I posted things in favor of a new stadium. Now that I've attended games recently I completely changed my tune.
  21. Ticket prices are one element, but there is no longer anything special about attending a Yankees game. This is a big part of the trouble at the gate. People will pay a steep price to be part of something special. Court side seats at the Lakers were always the biggest status symbol in sports. Seats behind home plate at Yankee Stadium weren't far behind. The Yankees and the sport of baseball no longer occupy such a prime spot in American culture. People will pay the price if they believe it's worth it. Have blue collar fans been priced out of the best seats at the new Yankee Stadium? Absolutely. This isn't different from other teams and concert events.
  22. We all recieve public services that we benefit from. I agree with you. Many of these services are vital, and I don't mind paying for them. My point was that a tax subsidy is not the same as being handed millions of dollars to fund something that I want to build. They may both be subsidies by definition. I'll admit to my blunder in stating that I don't recieve any subsidies. However, a tax discount is much different than getting money handed to you to build something. Overburdened working families receiving a tax discount is different than a billionaire being handed money. I just don't believe in socialism for billionaires.
  23. You could build a stadium for half the cost of what NFL teams build cost. That would defeat the purpose of building a new stadium. If they weren't interested in building lavish palaces, stadiums like New Era would work just fine. We wouldn't be having this conversation.
  24. I'm just saying how the world works. I'm glad everyone kept every promise they ever made to you. I never said that it was right. I keep promises that I make. I'm just saying that no company has to keep any promise it makes to its employees. That's the sad truth. You might want to read what I said again. I'd also prefer to go to a lender/banker who reads things twice, and reads beyond the first sentence. So, I'm glad you wouldn't deal with me. I wouldn't want to deal with you either. I like bankers who read and interpret things correctly. Instead, you read poorly and randomly attack someones character.
  25. Baseball needs to start the playoffs in August. I like baseball, but even I completely forget about it when football starts. As far as Yankee ticket sales go, I have a theory. The Yankees lost Jeter. That explains any problems they may have at the gate. He was baseball's last real star. Jeter's presence allowed Yankee fans to feel like they were part of a bygone era of baseball. It brought them back to a time when baseball mattered. An era when baseball players were larger than life. Yankee games are no longer a special place to be.
