  1. Flutie probably could have been less of a jerk, but an owner dictating who plays QB is never going to end well. The entire RJ-Flutie situation was a mess. The moment that Ralph decided to bench Flutie was the moment that tore the team apart. Everything else is somewhat moot imo.
  2. We're lucky the British didn't steal Revere's signs while they were in Boston.
  3. It would be senseless to make the arguement that Flutie wasn't a jerk. I could make the argument that it should have never gotten to be an issue. What franchise benches their starting QB before a playoff game? There are just too many potential problems with that. Unfortunately they all came to be. When you bench your starting QB before a playoff game, the risk of dividing your team is present. Flutie didn't destroy this team during the RJ era. Going with the lesser QB did.
  4. I hear this story time and time again around here. I'm not a Flutie fanboy. I simply view him as the guy who gave us the best chance to win at the time. How exactly did he "fracture the locker room"? Statistically he was no better than a middle of the pack QB. He was still a better option than Johnson. Every QB stat was unimpressive in the late 90's when compared to today's numbers.
  5. Willis McGahee and the D carried us for the second half of the 2004 season. Drew was toast. People associate winning with good QB play. I'd agree if you said the first half of 2002. Does anyone remember the putrid 10-0 loss at Green Bay? I think it was the second to final game that season.
  6. I agree with all of this. I spend thirty minutes a day in my car. It's one of my life's biggest necessities, but also one of its biggest wastes. It all depends upon what perspective I look at it from.
  7. The problem is that not all of these parts are manufactured in Germany. German labor costs may be high, but these companies have outsourced a lot as a result. In fact not all German cars are made in Germany. I don't doubt the quality of some of these cars. I just think that a good deal of the price tag is based on legacy. This applies to the American companies as well. What's wrong with Japanese cars?
  8. I've always known that labor was more, but I was under the impression that parts cost more as well. I have heard that it's sometimes a challenge to source parts.
  9. Just buy a Q5, it's made in Mexico not far from Ford, Kia,and GM. That way you can just go down there for cheap parts.
  10. I think that even if Peterman shows he can play, a QB needs to be drafted next year. Peterman was a fifth round choice. Fifth round QB's are more likely to become backups than Brady. One of my greatest fears is Peterman showing that he can play inspiring us to neglect the position in the draft. I remember Edwards showing potential as rookie. This only fooled us into thinking he was a franchise QB. More often than not, mid to late round QB's are going to level off into being backup players. I hope that Peterman becomes our franchise QB. I also hope that the front office doesn't become too enamored if he shows something.
  11. I think it's simply name recognition. Fans associate the name Bledsoe with being a top notch QB. He came to Buffalo with a reputation already established. This alters fan perspective.
  12. Flutie was never an elite QB. He was a decent QB who was carried by an elite defense. Just a couple years after Flutie was pulled for RJ, Dilfer won a Super Bowl. All we needed at the time was a QB who wasn't awful like RJ was. Only Bills fans would be hating on the last QB who took them to the playoffs. How does him being a jerk impact us? He was our best option at the time. People need to get over the anti Flutie sentiment. The guy might have saved the franchise.
  13. Plus people don't need to be so sensitive. Even if CJ played his last NFL down, he should be able to survive.
  14. I wish my Dad was an NFL coach quite frequently. It seems to be somewhat helpful.
  15. Trubisky also led his undermanned team to the Sun Bowl with an 8-4 record. Rosen has been losing a lot of games recently.
  16. Very well informed analysis, but I do ask a simple question. How many elite NFL QB's didn't play on winners in college? I know that being a championship college QB doesn't guarantee NFL success. I've made this very arguement against guys like Watson, but being a QB on a consistent loser in college is troublesome imo.
  17. Also quite douchey to use a woman's death and civil unrest as an excuse to quit your job. Nothing like taking advantage of a sad situation. NFL Man of the year my a**.
  18. This^ We simply lost our lunch box and high motor.
  19. New Orleans was CJ's best hope. Buffalo and KC are too far from the equator. Getting into space is more difficult.
  20. Apparently all those "ladies" you get in Miami don't speak English.
  21. I don't suppose that Tom Brady contributes to Edleman's success? I have a hard time believing that Edelman is more than JAG any place other than NE.
  22. This is becoming my issue with preseason. I'm growing tired of guys getting injured in meaningless games. Do first team guys really get enough preseason reps to make a difference? Season openers typically begin rough due to this. I'm just not convinced that preseason serves a greater purpose when first team guys are only playing a couple series. Preseason means much more to second and third team guys. Those five Super Bowl titles must be terrible to cope with.
