  1. I see the Steelers and Packers as two teams with coaching that holds them back. The Packers are a mess considering they have Aaron Rodgers at QB. It's also tough to judge them based on last nights game. At the moment the Falcons are far and away the best team in the NFC.
  2. I don't like Tomlin as a coach, and I'm not confident that Big Ben can stay healthy. The Steelers have tons of talent. The trio of Roethlisberger, Brown, and Bell may be the best in the league, but as a team they haven't impressed me as being elite this season. I'm also positive that Tomlin would get out coached in the playoffs as usual. I think it's either the Pats or a team from the West.
  3. When people thought that Siemien couldn't play he also had Rick Dennison as his offensive coordinator.
  4. I'm talking about the offense game plan. If we were in the game because of anything the offense did, I guess I don't understand football at all.
  5. Sammy makes that catch, but doesn't get back up and is out for 8-10 weeks. Sorry, I couldn't help myself.
  6. I agree. It was a terrible game plan. Then again, it was Dennison's second game calling plays in the NFL. Who knows if he's even cut out to be an OC without Gary Kubiak by his side.
  7. I saw a bland, unimaginative, and predictable offense yesterday. I won't completely marginalize the loss of offensive weapons, but offensive coaching was a train wreck. Predictable first down runs (poorly designed ones), No easy completions on quick reads, few short patterns (other than outlet recievers), very few slants, crossing routes, etc, no moving TT outside of the pocket, and the inability to find Shady better ways to get the ball. I was very unimpressed. McD is a defense coach, and Dennison doesn't have much experience as an offensive coordinator. Hopefully offensive coaching improves greatly. Once again, I won't marginalize the talent that we may have lost, but coaching needs to do better. KC has a QB who is rarely ever presents a deep threat (Just don't use the outlying Pats game as an example) yet a good offensive coach like Andy Reid makes it work. They have constructed an offense where more is designed underneath. You have to construct an offense that suits your roster.
  8. All good points. I didn't mind the Sammy trade at the time, and I still don't. I just wonder, even in a run heavy system if Jones has the skill set to be an outside receiver in the pros. As a run heavy team, we will still need a passing game. Shady is an elite talent. He doesn't have much time left. Will we be afforded the luxury of being a run heavy team when he is gone? You need a decent RB to be a run heavy team. I'm just concerned that McD doesn't have the ability to be flexible and game plan around what he has. Otherwise, I absolutely understand what you are saying.
  9. I'm just not feeling this half a***ed tank anymore. It should have been all or nothing. The Jets are doing it much better. Keep in mind that I was in favor of our off season trades. Now it feels as if we are in a strange spot. It's like a half tank.
  10. I tend to think that's the idea when you trade your number one WR. Unless McD intends on drafting another WR in a high round which wouldn't make much sense anytime in the near future.
  11. Considering our draft history, I think that we all get skittish when a rookie has some early struggles. I'm guilty of it. I agree. I just don't see him as a number one, and that's what McD wants him to be.
  12. I understand, and as I've said it's not a judgment based on two games. I just wonder if he is best suited as a slot reciever rather than an outside reciever. The knock on him coming out of college was his inability to get separation from good DB's, lack of big play ability, and being more of number two WR than a number one. I worry that McD wants him to be something that he isn't. I could see him lighting it up as a slot receiver for a good team. I'm not certain that throwing him on the outside as a rookie with his skill set is the best thing for his young career.
  13. Yeah, I don't want to judge him based on two games. I simply was not familiar with him. Although I watch college football, I never saw him play at East Carolina. Now that I've gotten to see him on the field, I've been able to reach initial opinions about him. I'm not sure that I see a guy with the skill set that dominant NFL receivers have.
  14. I agree, but when you draft a second round WR you hope for better than mediocre. There is no way that you can judge Jones two games into his career. That is not what I'm doing. I just don't see a skill set in Jones that gives him the potential to reach as high of a ceiling as you'd hope a second round WR could reach.
  15. I know this is early, and bash me if you want, but does anyone else worry that Jones will become the next Josh Reed? For a second round pick, I don't see him as a number one WR or an explosive slot guy. I just haven't seen anything that looks like playmaking potential in this guy. I'm not judging this based on results of only two games. I'm judging this based on the skill set that I see.
  16. You're watching the Falcons, be careful about "shutting it down".
  17. Yes but I'm more concerned about our ability to score from the one yard line at that point. Catching that ball wouldn't have guaranteed victory in that case.
  18. Yes, but did you see what Denver did to Dallas today? The bounce back might have to wait a week or so.
  19. Good post. I'm not some crazed fan clamoring for the backup, but you make great points. We were told that Watkins and Darby were traded because management are trying to build a "system". This regime has been selling us the line that they need guys who fit the system. In no way does TT fit the current system. If McBeane are truly all in with this "system", their guy should be the QB. TT is not a fit, much as we were told that Sammy and Darby weren't fits. If Dennison is refusing to make the system more friendly to TT, why play him?
  20. I can't believe everyone missed out on one fact while watching that video. If Jones made the diving catch, he might have been down at the one yard line. A defender was quickly approaching while Jones was going to fall to the ground short of the goal line.
  21. But..... why does it matter if it's a "train wreck"? We are in a half a***ed tank mode already. Btw TT was a train wreck today.
  22. We are 1-1. TT is not the QB of the future. Some people need to calm down about the Sammy trade ruining the franchise. It's ridiculous.
