  1. I think that he is a HOF QB. He plays in NY and beat the Pats dynasty twice. That's why I call him lucky. There is no other way that he'd be a HOFer.
  2. Yes, but there is more to a football team than just QB. Brady was subpar in both of those games. Eli didn't win those titles on his own. For a two time champion QB, he is wildly inconsistent. There have always been QB's in the league better than him, yet he has more titles than many of those guys. That does take a bit of good fortune. I'm not saying that you are incorrect. I just feel that Eli is fortunate to have won those two Super Bowls. Without those titles, his legacy would be much different. I don't mean to say that Eli is a bad QB, I just mean that he is not a HOF QB without those titles.
  3. You're right, we would worship him. No need to do the whole "BIlls fans are dumb" schtick though. He will always have the two titles, and Giants fans will love him. However, he's an above average QB who has been wildly inconsistent. His actual play does not indicate two Super Bowl champ. He caught a few breaks with some amazing defensive teams. He also performed well at the biggest moments. If Tyree and Manningham don't make insane catches, he doesn't have a ring. I'm not the first person in the world to make these statements. Therefore it isn't a Bills fan problem. He certainly doesn't compare to the modern greats.
  4. He's had seasons where he's been elite, surrounded by seasons where he has been average. He has been wildly inconsistent. Yet he is a two time Super Bowl champ who won his first on a once in a lifetime catch that happened again several years later. He'll be in the HOF, but upon closer analysis he's had one of the strangest HOF QB careers.
  5. I think they have a chance at the division if Stafford can remain consistent.
  6. Great response. You made great points. I'd just like to see the offense draw up one deep throw down the field. It's understandable that TT didn't have the opportunity to get to the deep option on any plays. However, I'd like to see more of an effort placed to do so. Even if it's just a token play. The offense coordinator and QB need to work together to make it happen at least once a game. Sometimes it does need to be just a matter of "chucking it up" to keep the defense honest imo. These are the types of plays that quality QB's know how to safely make at least once a game.
  7. Exactly. We might not have a marquee deep threat, but it's something that you have to attempt. Coming out of college Jones wasn't viewed as an elite deep threat. That fact doesn't mean he isn't capable of being targeted on deep throws. Most scouting reports on Jones indicated that he had the ability to do so.
  8. I agree. Good post, but why didn't we try to throw deep at least once if that were the case? I'm not denying the talent of Sammy. Zay Jones and Sammy are no comparison athlete wise, but Sammy ran a 4.43 40 while Jones ran a 4.45 40. Why not at least run a token deep route to loosen the safeties up? We might lack a legit deep threat, but it's not like my grandma is playing receiver. Jones is no Sammy, but it's not as if he's incapable of running.
  9. Our QB play is flaccid so it doesn't matter who we take home.
  10. I agree that it's fair to wonder. I can't argue against that. We don't have a true number one, and that's an issue. It's just tough to know what would have happened. I always think back to the Ravens opener last season with Sammy on the field.
  11. Every team has to have someone draw the top DB, so I've never understood that point. I agree that Matthews is a two at best, and I do understand the double team issue. However, did the Redskins double team Sammy? I doubt they had to with Josh Norman on him.
  12. I think TBD needs a therapy session to help move on from Sammy. I need to stop being hypocritical, and make this my last Sammy post response. There is no way that we can assess the trade at this point. No need to pine over him daily. We need to see what we do with the picks that we gained from him. No need to pine over the ex before knowing if the replacement may be better.
  13. I think that Cooper Kupp would have won the game for us.
  14. The amount of stuff posted, especially responses on this board that contribute absolutely nothing is astounding these days. I figured I was free to do the same.
  15. It worked for Coughlin for a while. I'm just stating the coaching style that I enjoy for entertainment value. There is no particular coaching that does or doesn't work. It all depends upon the coaches skill level, and the talent on the roster. We all have different personalities, yet differing personalities can still achieve the same results.
  16. We will never know. I can't say that Sammy wouldn't have helped, but it's just as wrong to say that he would have. Everything is just pure speculation. There are so many "if's" in life that can never be proven. We've had great games where Sammy was a major contributor. We've also had losses where the offense was completely stagnant with Sammy on the field. No one knows what would have happened. No one should claim that they do. It's been time to move on for over a month now.
  17. They don't want us to notice that Pop Warner football is better officiated. Replays of the entire field are like lifting the curtain on the Oz.
  18. Right, that's why it's crazy to reach conclusions about the trade two games into the season. Why do some find it improbable that the team knew more about Sammy's future than random message board fans?
  19. I'm old fashioned. I like energy in a coach, but I prefer it in the form of ripping into players and refs.
  20. I'm sticking with my take. He would have caught it, fell to the ground and been out for the year.
  21. Never underestimate how fundamentally unsound NFL defenses are. This idea some posters have that everyone was covered all day is absurd imo. As a whole NFL defnders do not understand fundamentals. During an NFL game defenders blow their assignments multiple times every game. This happens even more frequently with complex zone schemes. Even with a sub par receiver group, guys will get open during games when assignments are blown. The issue is that TT never sees any of it.
  22. Why would a network that has a contract with the NFL want to show how pathetic the league's officiating is?
  23. I think that we all need to relax and give things some time. Even as a fan of the Sammy trade, I'll admit that our receiver corps isn't supremely talented. However, I think that's it's premature to reach conclusions. We just completed the second game of the year. Lets not act like this is the first time we've seen a hideous offensive performance. Last years Ravens opener immediately comes to mind. If you think that this type of ugly play will become the norm, you are entitled to your opinion. I just believe that it's too early to say that this offense is a mess because of the loss of Sammy. It's not as if this offense clicked against elite defenses with Sammy either. Several years ago TT was a break out star. He was often referred to as our best QB since Kelly. TT's combination of athletic ability, and deep ball ability made him a dangerous player. At that time I predicted that TT would struggle as more tape was available of him. TT has stellar athletic ability, but has always struggled processing the intricacies of the game. This combination does not bode well for long term success. This is why some predicted that TT would consistently decline over time. I believe that we have seen that constant decline as his starting career has progressed. If we are seeing TT's final season, it will be very difficult to know how much of it had to do with the trade imo.
  24. I was less annoyed by the call, and more annoyed by the fact that the flag didn't come out until the receiver whined to get one. It's tough to take NFL officiating seriously when you see players getting flags after pleading to the ref. It's as if some refs think they must have missed it, so they cave. Just another thing that turns me off about the NFL. You don't see that happen at other levels of football. Try complaining to an official in high school, see how far that will get you. In the pros it can earn oneself a flag.
