  1. Agreed, I still like him as a play by play guy, but his radio show can get downright obnoxious. I don’t have an issue with his “homerism”, but he sometimes comes across as thinking he’s the god of Bills football. Sports talk radio is nothing more than opinion. Aside from the occasional ridiculously uninformed caller, there are no right or wrong answers. Murphy acts as if he knows everything, and doesn’t work in an opinion based format.
  2. In the modern NFL many QB’s have been able to shine early in their careers. Guys no longer sit on the bench for years before playing. Most current franchise QB’s played very well early in their careers. This has led many of us to falsely believe that early flashes of greatness are always indicative of finding that franchise guy. How many people around here proclaimed Winston to be the next great one? At the moment, the jury is still out on him. The truth is that one great season isn’t enough to proclaim greatness. People are already doing the same with Watson. The list goes on and on. At the moment, no one really knows how Carr’s career will play out. I’d never say it’s easy, but choices such as Losman and Manuel were very inspiring.
  3. This^ The Hawks have a championship from this era. You can’t ask for much more. Other than the Pats , multiple championship dynasties don’t happen anymore.
  4. Agreed, the announcers mean very little to me. Has there ever been a game in Buffalo where weather wasn’t mentioned? It seems like whenever it’s 65 in September they mention how “balmy” it is. As if 65 is unusual for September in Buffalo.
  5. Well, it’s not like she was any more “grating” than the countless other unqualified male announcers. We need more Tony Romo’s, and less of everyone else.
  6. Tyrod always plays good against the Fish.
  7. It simply doesn’t benefit the NFL. They aren’t going to make big money from a minor league. No one wants to watch a bunch a fringe NFL roster guys play low quality preseason like football. There wouldn’t be would development at a pro level because the quality of play wouldn’t be great. The step up from the minors to the pros would be similar to that of college to the pros. Comparing football to baseball is an apples to oranges comparison. Jackson is the exception to the rule. NFL players have short careers. They don’t have the time to hang around in the minors like baseball or hockey players. Yes, it would be a league of mediocre talents. It wouldn’t be a league with future stars like minor league baseball. It would simply be fringe roster guys who can fill a roster spot due to injuries. The quality of play would not be good enough to attract fans.
  8. I don’t understand the minor league point. The NFL already has a minor league, it’s called the NCAA. They aren’t going away any time soon.
  9. The Pack stuck around without Rodgers, but I think that they still lost too much ground. There are too many good NFC teams. The Pack aren’t getting back in the chase imo.
  10. CTE is real, I don’t doubt that. I’m also very cautious about attributing all negative off field behavior to the disease. There are simply too many variables in these cases Very little is known about CTE. Great strides need to be made before we can reach conclusions with any certainty. There is no denying its existence, but media hype has led many to believe that they know more than possible. We live in a media culture where factuality is considered optional. False assumptions occur when people except these words as the confirmed truth. Without a doubt CTE has the potential to be terrifying, but we aren’t at the point where we can confirm cause and effect.
  11. This^ Many of the biggest concert tours don’t stop in Buffalo either. New Era has hosted some huge ones over the past few years, but Buffalo isn’t an automatic tour stop such as NYC. Plus, there is no reason New Era or any open air stadium can’t host concerts. As mentioned, New Era has hosted several big ones. Most big concert tours take place during the summer, thus negating the need for a dome. The only thing that a dome would bring is the NCAA tourney every few years. The Key Bank Center already does so. Also, the future of stadium acts in music doesn’t look so bright imo.
  12. Yep, I’m idiot because I found McD’s logic to be crazy. I never follow the media these days. I simply found his quote indicative of who he is as an NFL coach. Too many NFL coaches lack a fundamental understanding of probability.
  13. Yes, but a tie would be statistically close to a loss given our playoff chances. You are looking at it in black and white terms.
  14. I’m convinced that many NFL coaches are simply unintelligent. The game has become more advanced than ever before. I think that eventually coaching will be forced to become more intelligent. I’m happy for the win, but still hate the call. A tie knocks us out of the playoff chase, while a loss does this same. We needed to win this game, but as usual an NFL coach is unaware of statistical probability. Yes because a tie does nothing to help us.
  15. Doesn’t get more LA than that. Wonder if they cover the plastic surgery cost?
  16. They are winning this season, that will do it. People in LA had no team to root for. They choose random teams. Not every Eagles fan in that stadium was from Philly, although I’m sure many of them were.
  17. I’m willing to bet a lot of those fans were locals as well. The people of LA have become fans of various teams over the years.
