  1. We will win. It's the Bills way of doing things. Lose when it counts, and then look great when it doesn't matter.
  2. I'm at the age where 1994 was the first season that I actually remember. Very good points about the importance of losing Ballard. I would like to hear some other fans opinions on that. I seem to remember the 94 team as being quite poor all around. It seemed like Kelly had already started to decline rapidly.
  3. Rex gets out coached every week. He's close to being exposed as a fraud who's every bit as bad a coach as his brother. Sometimes you just have to love the nepotism of the NFL. I'm starting to feel like the Ryan brothers have no business being near an NFL field.
  4. I've found McCoy's obsession with this game troublesome from the beginning. It's like someone that always talks about with their ex with the current partner. It proves where his heart really is, and he really has no desire to be in Buffalo. He wouldn't be so upset it if he was happy where he is at now. Shady is all about Shady. This team would be likable if they were winners. The fact that they are not winners makes them very unlikable. We've seen a lot of Bills teams fail to make the playoffs over the years. I do have to say this boisterous bunch is easily the most unlikable.
  5. I agree. It seems during this long playoff drought even when we have a soild roster we have too many guys who don't play smart. Our rosters are constantly filled with players that lose games. No matter how much talent we may have, we'll never be a winning team until we purge ourselves of these types of players. Guys like McKelvin, Hughes, Mulligan, Etc.
  6. The fact that we are discussing Alex Smith on this post tells me all I need to know. Our defense was the problem this year. It's always oversimplification to blame just one phase of the game, but our defense let us down. None of us expected to have All Pro QB play this season. Our defense led by the mastermind Rex Ryan was supposed to carry us. Tyrod was far from being All Pro, but he's been the best we've had in a while. That's all we could have hoped for. Instead we made Alex Smith look like a proficient down field passer.
  7. Could be a catch if they don't have any better camera angles available than what we saw.
  8. I enjoyed the last ten minutes of the film the most. They finally showed how much the team means to the community. It was all great, and I really enjoyed it. I just wish the city of Buffalo and its people would have played a slightly more prominent role in the film. Adding some stories from fans would have been a touch. A short history of the city and where it was economically and culturally in the 90's would have been nice as well. It could have been used to set a heartwarming backdrop to the story. I found the entire movie informative, but only the last ten minutes actually really hit me. I'd like to see something similiar locally directed. A movie about what that team means to Buffalo. For all you music fans out there, Springteen has a movie film called Springsteen and I. It consists of interviews with his fans. Something similiar with Bills fans pertaining to the 90's Super Bowl years would be amazing. I didn't expect that from this film obviously. I just wish a few short mentions of the city were made before the end.
  9. I'm pretty sure that in the world we live in now it would result in a record number of arrests. They would probably go back and look at tape to indentify each person on the field. They would be arrested, and banned from attending any event at Ralph Wilson Stadium. The world is just no fun anymore.
  10. If you read the depth chart of their respective teams those guys are all listed as third string. That's what they are. I don't understand your theory of those guys being honorary backups. They are third stringers. A lot of third string QB's have started games. You don't get there or stay there from being great.
  11. Actually I agree with the not missing games for the birth of a child. Antonio Cromartie, and countless others would never be playing.
  12. Some people around here never fail to give me a good laugh. Even if you know it's temp work, who wouldn't take 100K for two weeks of work? If you have any money sense at all you could survive decently while you figure out what to do with your life. The median salary per household in Buffalo NY is 30K. Ponder earned what amounts to three plus years of that in two weeks. I don't think that's a bad deal. Apparently there must be more wealthy people on this board than I ever thought.
  13. I don't see the parelels between Vick and Taylor as much as you do. The only similarity that concerns me is the ability to stay healthy. Vick and Taylor are both small by QB standards. Therefore they are apt to injuries. That's my biggest concern with Taylor. TT has already displayed far more thorwing ability at this stage in his career than Vick did. Vick completly built his career on running, and occasionally finding an open reciever. Taylor looks to throw first. That being said Taylor may not be Super Bowl caliber, but who knows? We'd all take a deep run in the playoffs over the next five years. So if he can do for us what Vick did for Atlanta we'd all take it. Also there is no way I see Aaron Williams retiring for health reasons. Trust me, he's not that type of player. That type of move just wouldn't be in his nature.
  14. I agree with you, but it would actually shock me if he didn't have to wait. The sports media hold grudges. Fringe guys are often either in or out based on the likability factor. Owens isn't a fringe guy. He's a sure Hall of Famer that can't be left out. That being said, I can picture the voters making him wait longer than he should. This would their form of retribution for TO being TO.
  15. Agreed. The mere mention of four straight Super Bowl losses is enough negativity for me. Some people are just stating that it won't be a fully comprehensive look at the big picture. That would be a true statement. Off the field stuff can play a role in what happens on the field. They were known as the "Bickering Bills". That team had a lot of divas on it. I think some people were just hoping to learn a little more about that. Some of Thurman's Super Bowl antics were the biggest diva moments in the history of the big game. So that sort of behavior did impact the team between the lines.
  16. I keep reading this all over this forum. Of course it was, every loss is. The Jacksonville game shouldn't be viewed as a game that we should have won. EJ was the starting QB and Sammy was out. Looking back at it, we really shouldn't have expected any different. Plus mathematically speaking the KC loss was far more damaging. We are one game behind them with a loss to them. Add the fact they have an easy schedule coming up, and that loss affected us more. Had we beat Jacksonville and still lose to KC we would be in a 7-5 tie with them. Considering KC's easy schedule there is a high probability we lose out to them. Beat KC and we hold the tie breaker while controlling our own destiny. The Jacksonville loss was embarrassing, but the KC loss was more damaging imo. We were rolling heading into halftime. Then we decided to stop throwing to Sammy, and Rex's defense made Alex Smith look like Montana. We really shouldn't have lost that game. I'm not saying it isn't fair to be frustrated with the Jacksonville game. Personally I'm just more frustrated with the KC debacle. I don't expect any wins with EJ on the field.
  17. It has nothing to do with miserable Bills fans. It's just the fact that some of us believe it's too crucial to the story to overlook. If you're worried about "ripping apart" an all time great team I think that's done every time this story is told. I'm sure they'll talk in depth about wide right, and other on field failures. To non Bills fans in the rest of the country it will still be viewed as failure. How would adding the partying aspect make it any different to the casual fan? Living outside of Buffalo as a Bills fan the four losses are still the butt of occasional jokes. We all know how great this team was, but America loves champions. I really don't think it would taint the 90's Bills image. I will watch the piece, but honestly I view it somewhat negatively. I really don't look forward to being reminded of these failures for the hundredth time. Actually I think a documentary that follows the 90's teams through each years AFC Championship game would be more appealing. Skip the Super Bowl game clips and showcase this team as AFC Champions. This would show those teams in a light never before seen.
  18. I've always found it funny how they have to sanitize sports documentaries like they are childrens movies. It seems like that side of pro sports is rarely addressed. All of us adults can deal with the fact that pro athletes party, while the sports media likes to act like it doesn't happen. It's the opposite of the old behind the music where rock stars attempt to one up each other with tales of hard partying. I just find it interesting how the media still desire athletes to be the ones representing clean cut old fashion values.
  19. No they certainly couldn't. Waiting until you achieve something before partying just wouldn't be the Buffalo way of life.
  20. Wow someone really hates the Beatles. I'm a Stones over Beatles kind of guy, but I love the Beatles as well. I think maybe this guy is basing an entire argument on I Want To Hold Your Hand. The Beatles became very representative of the 60's on their later work. To say they represented the ideas of the 40's and 50's is absurb. I don't think Back in the USSR went over to well with people in that age group.
  21. To the people who actually think Kelly would be a good idea. Do you want him because he'll be the best option when he enters the draft? Or is this just another sad attempt to remind ourselves of the glory days? Much like the Levy as GM debacle.
  22. Put aside all the character flaws for my first point. Does anyone here follow college football? Does he look like a potential starting NFL Quarterback to you? He doesn't have me totally convinced. He seems to have a reckless style that could be disastrous in the NFL. Now to the the character questions. Bringing him back home could have ugly consequences. The last thing he needs to be able to hook up with old friends every day. Add the pressure of being a Kelly, and it could be bad.
  23. Post like these from football fans kind of confuse me. My logic is along the lines that some guys suffer from playing and others don't. The world is a dangerous place, and as we age our past starts to impact us all physically. Football players are no different. I'm just confused by all the football fans who say they'd never let their child play the game. For those of you feel football is solely responsible for ruining so many lives how do you watch the games with a clear conscience? You wouldn't let your child play, yet you root for the Bills while the players will suffer in the future. If you believe football is so destructive isn't it morally wrong to be watching?
