  1. I think he smoked it before every game this season. I’ve never seen a rookie who gave me less hope for his future than this clown.
  2. This reminds me of that time when Bill Walsh told Marv that Trent Edwards was the next Montana.
  3. It’s not awful, but I’d prefer not to waste the #22 pick on Jackson. I’d prefer to bring in a WR with that pick over Jackson. I’m in the camp of wanting Darnold, Rosen, or Mayfield, and I won’t be completely satisfied with anything less. With that said, if we can’t/don’t get one of those guys; I think I’d rather roll with what we have before using a pick on a second tier QB.
  4. Am I the only one who thought this was a warning against drafting a drunk QB ? I expected a list of drunken QB’s.
  5. I NEVER claimed to understand anything. I’m just saying that I’m sure Beane has some opinion on the QB’s, no matter how informal they may be. We are in agreement that he has some impression of them. That’s exactly what I meant. It’s all in the semantics of how we interpreted his quote. Admittedly I might be ignorant to the genius intellect required to select a QB. They all know just as much as we do. Sure, they recieve paychecks for their assessments, but it’s all a crapshoot at that position.
  6. I agree, for instance your chance of drafting a franchise QB in the first round is profoundly greater than choosing one in the third round.
  7. Nice post, just a few too many Bens , Bradys, and Mannings
  8. Sure, but you also have to factor QB inflation into the equation. The perceived value of the position in 2018 is far greater than it was in past era’s as late as the 90’s. A lot of those 2nd round guys would have been first round picks in 2018. The fact that so many teams missed out on guys like Favre taught teams to look further at potential.
  9. I see more 1’s on that list than any other number.
  10. Beane on the QB’s “I haven’t spent enough time to have an opinion about any of them yet, honestly”. I’m calling BS on this one.
  11. You can’t guarantee anything in football or life. That should go without saying. Just because something could fail, doesn’t mean you don’t give it a try. If that’s how we all lived our lives, we’d be doing nothing. That’s why this team has been stuck in mediocrity for almost two decades. The Buffalo Bills are a nationally irrelevant football team. What is there to be afraid of by selling the farm? Is it losing our illustrious .500 record?
  12. Yes, because I believe their long term potential is better than Dak’s. They might turn out to be busts, but they have all the tools. A team who hasn’t had a legit QB since Kelly should be willing to give up a lot for those guys.
  13. The story of Dak’s career has yet to be written. People are still stuck on his rookie season. He needs to prove himself this year.
  14. Something tells me you’re slightly biased ? , I’m willing to give McCarron a chance, but the reality is that his skill set translates to a backup in the pros. Hopefully I’m wrong. It would just be a mistake to go all in on McCarron as the franchise guy. He couldn’t even beat out Dalton in Cincy.1 It’d be the same mistake we made with Edwards and Fitz by giving a backup level talent too long to prove himself as a starter.
  15. This narrative has become common around here, and I don’t understand it. The Bills don’t think he’s a franchise QB. They wouldn’t have waited for all the chips to fall before signing him. It appeared that we waited to sign the least costly bridge QB option. It’s possible that the Bills brass felt all of the FA QB’s were close to being equals. This allowed them to wait for the cheapest option to come to them. They wouldn’t have risked McCarron signing elsewhere if they felt he was a franchise QB. I’m not saying that he won’t be the starting QB this season though. The Jets may have put a monkey wrench in their original plans.
  16. I’m slowly beginning to worry that McBeane’s requirement to be “their type of guy” might lead to the eventually demise of their reign.
  17. I couldn’t care less about anything that comes out of that mans mouth. He’s a guy you should definitely trust.
  18. Sure, no one knows what these guys will become, but all of the top guys have a chance at greatness. You can’t say that about every QB class. They might become busts, but now is as good a time as any to sell the farm for a QB. You have to do it at some point. Do we want another Keenum? It’s nice to say that he led his team to the NFC championship, but his team replaced him immediately. That speaks volumes to the importance of a real franchise QB imo. Losman and Manuel never possessed the traits that Mayfield, Rosen, and Darnold possess. They were both poor draft choices from the start. Drafting Mayfield, Rosen, or Darnold would never be a poor decision, regardless of what level of success they achieve. They have almost everything you’d want from a QB coming into the league. You’d be playing the right cards, now you just have to see if they’re winning cards. Drafting Losman and Manuel was like playing the wrong cards from the start.
  19. NFL.com gave my phone an alert with the news while I was at work today. After reading the alert, I immediately had the thought that we might be screwed. This was before I read anything on this forum. So much for your “echo chamber theory”. With that said, I’m not ready to fire Beane ?
  20. I’ve noticed something strange on this board today regarding posters attitudes towards non-QB’s. Lots of people are making statements that sound as if only QB’s can be draft busts. Somehow, if we draft other positions with our first round picks they are a guaranteed success.
  21. True, and the team is very lucky they are old enough to think you can recreate the electric company to be a winning team. In 2018 you need a franchise QB. Depth doesn’t matter when you might not have a legitimate NFL starting QB on the roster.
  22. Fair enough. Plenty of college QB’s will improve their pro stock, but they won’t posses the polish and raw talent of this class. Every season new college QB’s rise to the top. Pro teams are desperate to find a franchise QB. Naturally the value of the position becomes inflated each draft. Teams will convince themselves that guys like Christian Ponder are the answer regardless of the tools they possess. The potential 2018 class was highly regarded last year at this time. They possess all the tools a scout looks for at the pro QB. None of next seasons potential QB draft class can claim that. This class is deep enough for one to hope they have greater odds at hitting the jackpot. GM’s won’t be afforded that luxury next year.
  23. This draft class has at least three guys who are better than Chevy four doors. That’s why you mortgage the farm. Who are the hot QB prospects next season? None of them are close to what’s available this year.
  24. Rudolph would be a wasted pick. If we aren’t serious about getting a top tier QB, we need to use those two picks elsewhere. We already have multiple backups on the roster. No need to add another.
  25. I don’t think that anyone here ever said that we were guaranteed the ability to trade with the Colts. Some have simply questioned what we may have offered, and I pondered if I’d rather have two firsts as opposed to the #6 as Colts GM.
