Goodbye Dan Carpenter!

He's probably already been castrated, so why would he have the stones? -

This team has a lot of problems, so I hate to go after the place kicker but this guy has killed us all season. -

I thought they love Rex. Why have they given up? -

I get what you mean, I'm just not willing to attribute a team marching down the field on their second possession due to the defense being tired. We had two three and outs, but it was only the second time the defense was on the field. Later in the game I would complete agree with your statement. We just have too many fundamentally unsound tacklers. -

Yep Lynn for HC. That looked great. -

That's the issue. Too many boneheads without enough drive to succeed. It all starts at the top with Rex too. -

These guys are supposed to be world class athletes. I'll buy into what you're saying if it was the second half, but halfway through the first quarter with commercial breaks to rest they shouldn't be exhausted. Rex is issue. This offense does hurt the defense, but it's too early in the game to blame it on being tired. -

Yes. We are going to see some real atrocious offensive play on both sides. -
The 12 Best Coaching Candidates...what about Dave Toub?
DriveFor1Outta5 replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Broke into a woman's house through the window, and jumped into bed with her. The police were called, and he was still in the bed. Yes, I understand there is potentially more to the story. We have no clue if there are any other circumstances surrounding this incident. There might be more than meets the eye. However, this is also the kind of thing that could get dragged up again. Next thing you know you are forced to fire the guy. If ugly details ever do surface it could become too much of scandal for my liking. As I said, there might be more to it. At the same time plenty of guys are doing prison time for similar offenses. Cooter happened to be a former QB at Tennessee so magically the records got wiped out. It's just something would definitely scare me away from hiring him. -
Yeah I understand how it feels. I guess Christmas kind of steals the games thunder when it's another stumble to 8-8 or 9-7. Plus I just find it hard to follow the playoff chase because no matter what happens we're not getting in. Sure there's a chance, but it's just not realistic. With that said, I really don't want to see Miami in the playoffs. That's the most intriguing aspect of this game to me.

He also has a couple arrests. They include one that I worry could become quite controversial if the national media got ahold of it. They did "disappear" from his record down in Tennessee (He did play ball at Tenneseee) but I think it could become something potentially distracting. -
Town boards set up public hearings whenever new business attempt to come to town. Your statement would be accurate if the town actually rejects them. Until then this has nothing to do with politics. I'm pretty sure they will be allowed in.

Because they aren't "entitled" to get paid like so many are arguing. Just because an entity makes millions off you doesn't mean you are "entitled" to anything.

Unfortunately I think this proves that education and its value really does take a back seat for most football players. That's why people don't see any value in it. No one ever mentions how college football scholarships likely take away scholarships from more deserving students. Many things are unjust and unfair about universities in this country. Football is the least of my concerns in that department.
-
Lots of business also makes billions while their employees see little of that wealth. How is college football any different? It's just the way life works. They get free tuition plus room and board. Sure that isn't equal to the amount of money the institutions bring in, but since when has the amount of money an entity brings in had to impact how much they compensate? It doesn't.
-
So do guys start sitting out high school games too? There really wouldn't be a difference. You wouldn't want to risk your scholarship that could lead to the pros.
-
Great point. The system is "corrupt" and unfair, but so is life. College football's treatment of athletes is far from the only unfair thing one will face in life. Marcus Lattimore's injury for instance was devastating to him. He would have made far more by playing in the pros. With that said, he had an insurance policy that paid him nearly 2 million dollars. If he is properly advised he's still in very good shape. Far worse things have happened to people in life. Maybe I just lack empathy. I know it's unfair, but I guess you might as well learn that things aren't always fair. Anyone who who has ever seen elite college athletes know they already get paid anyway. College students don't generally drive Escalades and wear high end jewelry.

PFW: Tom Coughlin the favorite to replace Rex Ryan

Question for all the "too old" people. What health problems do you know he has? If not then what's the problem? People can live well past 70 these days. -

DriveFor1Outta5 replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good link. I wouldn't mind Coughlin coming here at all, but it seems like there are far more articles linking him to the the Jags. It makes Coughlin in Buffalo seem unlikely to me. -
"They don't let them track to a meaningful degree"? I have to admit that I don't understand that perspective. Most of the guys pursuing meaningless degrees where lucky to get into college at all. Of course they are going to be encouraged to pursue lightweight degrees if they can't do the work. Plenty of football players who are capable students have gotten good degrees. No question the universities take advantage of these guys, it's all very unfair. I wouldn't have a major issue with guys getting paid, but life is unfair so sometimes I get tired of hearing that angle. With that said, if a guy wants to sit a game out that's up to him. The consequences will naturally fall on them.
-
I hate this question because there is no way to respond to the posts without it getting political. With that said, Pegula is the only guy who was going to keep the team here. There is a lot more money to be made elsewhere. Only someone with a vested interest in the area was going to keep the team in Buffalo. For anyone else it really doesn't financial sense to keep the team in Buffalo.

Breaking down the 7-7 record
DriveFor1Outta5 replied to Billsguy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The only issue I have with this analysis is that almost doesn't count. The Seattle and Oakland games are irrelevant as to showing the kind of team we are. In the NFL bad teams "almost" beat good teams every week. It's the wins and losses that separate NFL teams.
