  1. Alcohol is so scary because it just brings out the real person imo.
  2. In some situations I'd agree, but there isn't a lot anyone can do to stop a guy with issues from flying off the handle. Fathers will never be able to teach there daughters how to have good taste in men. Sadly they hopefully live and learn. You just hope it never gets as ugly as an alleged incident like this.
  3. This guy allegedly seemed to have more issues than simply not knowing "what to walk away from". It's probably especially difficult to teach a young man these kinds of things when he likely feels privileged. I wouldn't be surprised if he does get out of it. He is innocent until proven guilty, but a innocent verdict wouldn't shock me in the slightest. This is part of the reason some of these spoiled college guys do these awful things. It's about power, and testing boundaries that they have always been able to push. PS Regardless of what kind of guy Greg Olsen was younger, I still hate stories like this. I don't see why the media feels the need to drag someone's name through the mud for the problems of their family members.
  4. I agree. It's one of those scenarios where I'm in favor if there were something in it for the fan. The problem is that there isn't. The sole purpose would be to further the profit margain of the league. In that context it seems totally unnecessary.
  5. There have been countless things that were once "woven into the fabric of American Culture" that have gone away. My opinion is that football itself will never go away. I agree with you on that point. What could go away is the NFL, or at least the league in its current form. Football will likely always be around, but there is nothing stopping it from being relegated to a less visible postition in American culture.
  6. Exactly my point. It's all a matter of opinion though. Watson passes your eye test, but he doesn't pass mine. Many scouts have plenty of reservations about him as well. I meant that too many people are simply judging him by his stats without looking any further.
  7. Yes they are judging him on passing years and games won. They aren't judging him on accuracy issues, inability to hang in the pocket, problems with turnovers, and less than ideal size. These are all major red flags in the pros. Tons of college QB's have thrown for lots of yards and won many games. There's far more to being a successful pro QB. Maybe they aren't, but the National Championship run sure gets mentioned around here a lot.
  8. It's stupid because it shows he doesn't "get it". He has to know it would get a ton of publicity and hurt his draft stock. After all his previous incidents he isn't going to get any breaks. If he is this clueless it shows that a team wouldn't be wise giving him the keys to the franchise.
  9. People are looking more at that one game than they are the actual player. So many have become enamored by his play in that game to the point that they aren't analyzing the actual player. Everyone keeps mentioning the national championship. My response is to tell them to take a look at a list of college national championship QB's. It proves that it doesn't always translate to the pros.
  10. Why did his brother need defended? He was playing a football game and was hit out of bounds. No one offended his brothers honor. It wasn't the actual act of running on the field that hurt Kelly. It was the fact that it shows he still doesn't get it. It doesn't matter how bad it really was. He has to know those kinds of things become big news these days. He didn't need to give the media another excuse to portray him in a negative light. It's not about the action itself. It's about the fact that if he is really that stupid, what is he going to next? My biggest issue with that incident is what it says about his intelligence. I don't think that big of bonehead can ever become the face of a franchise. I hate to use a lazy comparison but he's just a small time version of Manziel. He has more in common with Johnny Manziel than his uncle Jim (even with all the dirt out there on Jim in his youth).
  11. I'm going with system, and that's why he scares me so much. Clemson's speed helped them dominate college opponents. Watson won't have that advantage in the pros. He is often inaccurate and turns the ball over too much. That's a bad recipe for a pro QB. Of course he gets a lot of love around here. Bills fans are experts at bad NFL QB's.
  12. Well said. McCarron is the type of guy who I'd have no problem signing as a free agent. He's just not the kind of player that you trade crucial draft picks for. If you were a contending team who needed a backup it wouldn't be a bad move. We are not in that position. We need our draft picks too much to take that sort of risk.
  13. Yes they will, everyone has a price tag. If the league really followed through with pulling Super Bowl games out of the state they might change their tune. Money always trumps principals.
  14. I don't know how much I really believe in this "QB Guru" stuff. There's part of me that believes a QB either has it or doesn't. It's one thing when these guys are in high school, but it's another when they are already pros.
  15. Too many to pick from. I used to love sports programming. Now they have gone the way of the rest of the media. Sensationalism filled with gossip, lies, and endless chatter to draw attention to themselves.
  16. The difference is simply in how it looks to fans. Jordan won championships. McCoy hasn't won anything. Championship players and teams have earned the right to complain about whatever they want. When you are on a team that isn't championship caliber these type of rants resonate poorly with the fans. People (including myself) are left with the impression that the player should be more focused on winning games, and less focused on personal accomplishments. When a guy like Jordan wins titles they have reached the pinnacle of their team sport. At that point worrying about personal accomplishments doesn't come across as being quite so selfish. Guys like Jordan have achieved everything they can for their team. McCoy had a great season. He is certainly the least of this team's worries. Unfortunately the team failed to achieve any considerable success. That one simple fact makes him comments more ill advised.
  17. The only thing I hate about the Internet is how difficult it is to detect if something is meant as sarcasm.
  18. You are correct. High Wonderlic scores mean nothing. They do nothing to indicate that a guy will be a great QB. On the flip side extremely low Wonderlic scores indicate that a QB doesn't have the processing ability required to play QB in today's NFL. Guys with high Wonderlic scores don't always turn out to be great QB's. Guys with really low Wonderlic scores always turn out to be busts.
  19. I agree. I think he has the best potential at QB in this draft (given my thoughts on this QB class that isn't saying much),but it could be difficult for him to find open receivers from a jail cell.
  20. I don't see anything remotely wrong with this if it actually opened up a spot for someone more deserving. There is no reason that any program should "owe" it to a former player to recruit their siblings. I know nothing about Mack's brother. He might be a great football player, but if UB didn't see him as a fit there is nothing wrong with that imo. Apparently people find it a shocker when neopotism actually fails.
  21. Yeah. This is one of those stories where you know there is more to it. We just don't what as of now. Guys with tons of baggage get combine invites every season. The NFL can be unfair hypocrites, but even they know they aren't recruiting for the Tabernacle choir.
  22. Probably end up getting arrested or something in the process.
  23. This ^ I agree that "ten cent headed players" are a lot of the issue with this team. Successful franchises build through the draft by finding guys who fit a specific scheme. This franchise has no cohesive vision. We continue to find guys who are athletically gifted but lack all the intangibles of winners. I didn't care for Rex by the end of his tenure here. That doesn't change my opinion that it's sad we had a team full of guys whining that his scheme was "too complicated. There is nothing like not putting any effort into learning.
