  1. Someone must have made a nice donation. College sports are so seedy.
  2. Soild take. A franchise QB covers a lot of flaws. If you don't have one you aren't afforded the luxury of covering those flaws. If you have a front office who build a soild team you'll be in the playoffs. You won't likely win championships without a franchise QB though. There are some examples, but they are few and far between.
  3. Dak was great, but people are forgetting how stacked that Cowboys team is. He was put in a really good situation.
  4. I don't care either way. I don't see why the league needs to worry about it. I also don't have any need to watch men dance in the end zone either.
  5. You mentioned Bradford, and I responded. I'm done with him. His name came up because I mentioned how many QB classes were total busts. I think that this year will be too. People started claiming that Bradford is a better QB than he actually is. I'm just not fond of this years QB class. I really like next years QB class. I could very well be wrong. In reality no one knows, including the pros who get paid to know these things. I just felt the need to offer an opposing view to the idea that Mahomes is guaranteed to be the next Rodgers.
  6. He's been hurt his entire career, and when he's healthy he's average. Bradford is not any better than TT. This is the case of the "every other QB is better" syndrome. I just don't like this season class. I wouldn't have a problem doing what no one has discussed yet. Take a QB in the third or forth. That way you haven't invested much in a questionable class. Next year take a guy in the first. I just really like Darnold,Rosen,Luke Falk, and a guy from Wyoming named Josh Allen. I'm just not confident in this years class. I would be disappointed if we used the tenth pick on QB.
  7. Further proof that numbers don't tell the entire story. Watching a few Vikings games last year showed me that Bradford was clearly a liability. He played well the first few games, and had a miserable second half of the season. We can split hairs over the semantics of Bradford being a bust, but he certainly isn't what anyone dreams of from a first round QB. You draft a first round QB with the hopes of winning titles. Anything less is a disappointment barring other extreme weakness on the team. If I knew that a guy at the level of Bradford was the best I could get in the first round, I'd wait another year to select a QB. That's how I feel about this years QB class. I don't personally see anyone being much better than the level of Bradford. That would influence me if I were GM to wait until next year to draft a high round QB. The QB class of 2007 that included Bradford can't be considered anything other than a bust. If Bradford is the best of a QB class, it's not a class that I'd want to pick from.
  8. Agree. It's simple as that. Whaley has done a few things that make him seem like a bit of a jerk. The fanboys will never admit that.
  9. If you don't like it, don't read it. These posts crack me up. These writers are generating conversation. Thatmeans the writer did their job. That's all they want.
  10. Right, but if your assessment of a draft is the best you are going to get is a guy at Bradford's level you wouldn't draft him in the first. A draft with Bradford as the number one is a bust.
  11. If Bradford is the best you could get out of a QB in a draft I'd call that a bust. Bradford is a bust for a first pick. Would you be happy with drafting Watson number ten, and him having the production of Bradford? No we wouldn't, because the playoff drought would continue for another ten years.
  12. Correct, and you used an unfairly small sample size to benefit your personal point of view.
  13. You might want to check out 2010 and 2007 as well. We also need to wait on 2015. Bills fans have "other QB goggles"so that they have already annointed Winston and Mariota the next great ones. They have to sustain their success before they can be considered elite.
  14. No I wasn't. Why is it so unreasonable to think that an entire QB draft class can be a bust? It's not like it hasn't happened before. Why am I required to like one of the QB's this year?
  15. I would probably be called one of those people. I actually don't love TT (I think he's average) but I think that this years QB class will be an all around bust. I don't know why some people think that every QB class must have a future star in it. Talk to me about next year and it's a different story.
  16. Fair enough. I don't want it sound like all his success is becaue of no defense. I'm just really afraid of a predetermined read air raid offense QB. He has all time great arm talent. It means nothing if he can't adjust to the pro game. It won't be easy because he is already faced with a steep learning curve.
  17. All good examples, but I could make the arguement that both Wentz and Roethlisberger played in far more pro style systems than Mahomes. The elite DII teams can prepare a guy for the pros just as much as DI. The MAC was also producing some quality NFL QB's at the time of Roethlisberger. The Big 12 has produced nothing of quality at the QB position. It's like a different sport. Teams run screens and all go's as receivers run unhindered all over the field. The Big 12 QB is like the point guard, and the end zone is the basket. Scores like 70-63 are not uncommon. Mahomes has a ton of arm talent. It's unfair to compare him to anyone else. Playing in the Big 12 doesn't negate the talent he has. I just would be afraid to use a high pick on him. Having concerns about the conference and style of play is not hyperbole. It's just an opinion that leaves some feeling less enthusiastic about Mahomes than others.
  18. I was just saying that the defense in that league is certainly not major conference worthy. It's nonexistent. That's why they produced Bryce Petty and Geno Smith. Those guys lit it up on Saturday's. They even fooled teams into using relatively high draft picks on them. I'm not comparing Mahomes talent to those guys. I'm just saying that even a couple total busts put up all time great college numbers in that conference.
  19. I'm not going to claim that the Buffalo media writes Pulitzer worthy articles. They certainly don't. However, it is actually very difficult to miss the playoffs 17 years in a row in the NFL. You could almost intentionally try and still fail. I actually don't think it is a stretch to say that the "Bills don't know how to put their pants on in the morning". They don't.
  20. That's how I feel. The guy can make all the throws. There is no question that he has an incredibly good arm. Playing in the Big 12 just makes it so difficult to properly assess how he'll translate to the pros. Big 12 receivers are running open all over the field every game. Defense is optional in that conference. Moving from Big 12 football to the pros is almost akin to playing a different sport. It's like moving from softball to baseball. If he played in any of the other major conferences he'd be the number one pick. He is just too much of a wild card to use a top ten pick on.
  21. Football is just much more complicated than those other sports. This means that guys can't make it based solely on talent. The QB has to be like a coach on the field. The human mind is a very unpredictable entity. With the mind being such an important part of a QB it makes the QB position incredible unpredictable. It's also hard to tell if the mental aspect of a guys game translate from college to the pros.
  22. Yes. It's also a good reason not to draft a CB in the first round. I just don't see corner as a high value position for a first round pick. With all these guys looking good it should afford us the luxury of not being tied to drafting a corner in the first round.
