  1. Trubisky would be great in Cleveland. He has a rust belt sounding surname, and will be a bust.
  2. I worry that Trubisky's has been overvalued because he is viewed as the sole "prototype" NFL QB in this draft. It happens with at least one guy every season. It's the same reason that Christian Ponder was a first round draft pick.
  3. I agree to an extent, but with a couple good drafts you can turn things around quickly in the NFL. The real problem is that everyone who has followed Donahoe has been no better.
  4. Yes, but Parker ran for 102 yards in that game. Ajayi ran for over 200. James Harrisons strip sack of Bledsoe with the Bills only down by two that resulted in a TD was a major turning point. The strip sack occurred because Bledsoe was a washed up statue who was incapable of making plays in 2004. I know that I'm slightly digressing from the topic. I'm just making the point that both Bledsoe and Losman were what really did Donahoe in.
  5. Who cares about any of this stuff? Go live your life and I'll live mine. Exactly. A lot of people GAF and I don't understand why.
  6. Parker ran for 102 yards with one long run thrown in. It's was demoralizing more than anything that a third string RB could run for over 100 yards against us. I know that it was the first thing I noticed while watching that game. In reality Bledsoe was awful as well. He threw for less than 200 yards and was 16 out of 30. He did nothing to keep the Steelers off the field. In fact we were carried by McGahee that entire season. When the Steelers were able to shut him down we were finished.
  7. Yeah but the game was lost because Bledsoe was a washed up has been. Donahoe was the guy who decided to pick up the washed has been.
  8. I agree. However, I could easily make the arguement that our early draft picks haven't been very good either. The majority of our best talent has been found through free agency and trades. This franchise has done a terrible job drafting. The draft is how you build a winner. That's why we don't have one. It's also the reason this team has so many holes.
  9. It's kind of scary seeing it this way. I know I'll get beat up for this comment, but this team has a ton of holes. We need to have an amazing draft this year. We need a lot of players who can step in and play immediately.
  10. Has there ever been "a one year wonder" college QB who has been a successful pro? It's just difficult for me to feel good about Trubisky.
  11. These careers often have more earning potential than being a social worker. I could list thousands of more college degrees with similar issues. Academia looking down on many careers is a big problem.
  12. It's just difficult for me to believe that someone who grabs money off a table at Applebee's is smart. His interviews would also indicate otherwise. I'm not trying to pick on the guy. I just don't understand how everyone has determined he is intelligent. Everything he says and does indicate otherwise. The majority of NFL players grew up in urban environments. As pro athletes the majority of them choose to live in the suburbs. Based on your theory this would mean that every NFL player would be getting in trouble due to cultural misunderstandings. The majority of NFL players don't steal money at Applebee's or run people over. Marshawn Lynch is responsible for every problem that Marshawn Lynch has had. Blaiming them on cultural differences just seems absurd to me.
  13. I understand your points. I was really just using the stupid is as stupid does theory. Lynch has done a lot of dumb things. Due to this it's difficult for me to say that he's intelligent. There are a lot of guys with similar upbringings to Lynch in the league. Most of them avoid getting caught doing such dumb things. People with intelligence can understand where their "social norms" are acceptable vs where they are not. You learn to adjust accordingly. Grabbing money off a table at Applebee's or wherever that happened shows very poor decision making. If you're saying that he didn't understand it was socially unacceptable than he isn't the brightest crayon in the box.
  14. Thanks for the link. It was a good read. The problem I have with politics now days is the liberal conservative divide. People tend to align themselves with a specific side, and they form options based solely on that. Liberals are going to say they love the free plan. Conservatives are going to say they hate it. Many of these people will reach these conclusions before knowing any details of the plan. Politically speaking I just want what's best. Often this places me at odds with both sides. I have looked at the tuition plan with an open mind. The more I learn about it the more I know that it's a deeply flawed plan with potentially disastrous consequences. I'm not necessarily against the idea. I'm against the way Cuomo's plan is going to work. I have a lot of problems with it. This article confirmed my thoughts.
  15. I think that both of you guys are overthinking this. Marshwan Lynch's biggest problem is the fact that he isn't very intelligent. The reason most other players "adapt" is simply because they are at least slightly more intelligent than Lynch.
  16. I'm not the type of person to hand out compliments often, but Rooney seemed like a genuinely good guy. There aren't many NFL owners you can say that about. He lived a life that exhibited class and practicality over flash. There aren't many people at Rooney's level that you can say the same for.
  17. I hope the Pats don't steal him. This board will probably crash. It would get ugly.
  18. The Mannings have the same thing going for them that Favre did. They seem like your average everyday "good ole boys" who lots of Americans can relate to. Most guys who spend Sundays watching the NFL on their couch feel a connection to these guys. This allows the court of public opinion to always fall in their favor. Other players would be crucified in the court of public opinion for doing what the Mannings and Favre have done.
  19. I've always enjoyed my bourbon neat and personally have found that you mostly get what you pay for. With that said, there are cheaper bourbons that are worth drinking. The thing that hipsters and bourbon snobs don't always understand is that if it taste good to you, just drink it. Do you enjoy the standard Wild Turkey or Wild Turkey 101? I think Wild Turkey 101 can hold its own against most of the more expensive highly rated bourbons. If you haven't tried it, I highly recommend it.
  20. It's funny how fans and the media both love the Manning family. They seem exempt from backlash even though both Eli and Peyton haven't always been choir boys. I'm sure Eli's name will be cleared somehow.
  21. Good point. I knew they at were Applebee's, I just didn't consider fast food until now.
  22. It won't be long before people with Bachelors degree are working fast food. There are professions where college degrees are completely necessary. The rest have simply created arbitrary job requirements for no reason other than the fact they can. When millions of jobless young people are on the streets with bachelors degrees, employers are afforded this luxury. I believe that a return to the traditional meaning of college would greatly benefit our country. College should be a place for the academically talented. It shouldn't be a place for everyone. While we push liberal arts degrees we ignore the shortage of trade workers. We are no longer an industrial nation, but there is no lack of need for skilled trade workers. Sadly academia looks down on these careers. As a high school student I recall being immediately discouraged from pursuing a career in trucking. I was essentially told that going through life with no education is no way live. This attitude does nothing to benefit or society or to build a strong diverse economy. I am not against education. I just believe that it is time to rethink what we hope to get out of it as a society.
  23. I understand your point, but who ever said that part of the deal will be giving spots away to less deserving students? I didn't hear anything about that. As I said, deserving students get shut out for less deserving ones all the time already. I don't see how this will change that. There are some great SUNY schools and good programs. There are also SUNY schools that require nothing more than a pulse. I'm sure this will remain the same. I mentioned in a previous that my biggest problem with this was not expanding it to everyone regardless of income. It creates too much resentment, and adds a class element to it that I don't like. K-12 is free for everyone, so I don't think this should have been different. They should have either made it free for everyone, or not have done it at all.
  24. Well there are good private schools if you've got the cash to pay. As an added bonus you get to avoid all the New Yorkers and Long Islanders. I'm certain that our tax money already pays for the tutition of academically unworthy students. Students get rejected by schools all the time in favor of inferior students. The entire college system is loaded with problems and morally questionable practices. I totally understand your point. Just don't think that this doesn't happen already.
  25. A lot of Bills fans have a soft spot for the Packers due to similar reasons. That's why I don't understand how come I hate them so much. Sadly, I think I'm jealous of the success such a small market has enjoyed. It also annoyed me that in Buffalo we worried about losing our team for years. Yet Green Bay is deemed special and have been grandfathered into community ownership being allowed. If Pegula didn't save us the Bills would be gone to greener pastures. Plus I know too many bandwagaon Pack fans. They are almost as annoying as Cowboys and Pats fans. Regardless, I do understand why Bills fans often like the Packers.
