  1. I agree with your point, and I hate to give such a simple answer. Our QB doesn't know the middle of the field exists. That's the reason I don't draft Howard.
  2. I wonder if there is a chance we decline Watkins option if we can get Davis or Williams? They still haven't picked it up so it makes me wonder. I think it may depend upon if McDermott or Whaley is running the show.
  3. Fair enough. I can see this conversation will go no deeper, and that's fine. I feel like no one read the actual article.
  4. Good post. He would have to turn out to be a consistent All Pro/Hall of Fame type guy for it to make sense. Those kind of guys are rare. Unfortunately a lot of people reach the conclusion that they think they know he'll be that type of player. In reality no one can be certain of that. We have already gone all in at that postition. Lets place our bets elsewhere. Personally I don't think his size is what I'd prefer for a DT though.
  5. That white football players are discounted based on race. What else explains 97% of corners being black. It doesn't make sense.
  6. When did I group an entire race together? I said blacks and whites have equal athletic ability ability. Some sports are just played by specific demographics. That doesn't mean that every race wouldn't be just as a good. You might want to read the original article. I think it makes a point about football. Football is played by both blacks and whites. Yet one race is disproportionately represented.
  7. No I think you're wrong. I think that's what this article is trying to say. There is a lot of reverse racism in American sports. Racist people have assumed that black athletes are better. That's why they have been the majority. BTW European counties almost always win World Cups, and the Pats win Super Bowls. Blacks and Whites have equal athletic ability. It's simply reverse racism.
  8. I hear you, but I'm just more in favor of drafting for need this year. We have enough needs where we could still get a great player. Lawson is no guarantee, but neither is Thomas. You don't ldraft Lawson last year if you didn't have confidence in him.
  9. I'm just not a fan. Especially when we lack depth in so many areas and already have Hughes and Lawson. That is why I'd view the pick as a typical cute Bills pick.
  10. Solomon Thomas sounds about right. It would be a cute and stupid Bills type draft pick.
  11. What a joke we even put the effort into policing these things. I feel sorry for all parties involved. They have already been punished enough. Leave them alone.
  12. Good post. This has always been one of my questions with Sammy. He was big at Clemson, then the Bills make a huge trade to get him. He was elevated to a status he didn't earn. I don't know how willing he is to do the little things. I've always got the impression that Sammy thinks he deserves better.
  13. Good points, but there's a big difference between being a stoned hippy and an athlete with millions coming their way. They faced consequences too. At least the ones who took it too far. Aids didn't exist, but there have always been fun diseases. Babies have always existed too. Half the league has 5 babies with 5 different women. It's difficult for me to think these guys are good decision makers.
  14. I believe it's a combination of multiple factors. For arguement sake let's say that half of the athletes accused are guilty and the other half are innocent. I think the innocent athlete find themselves in bad situations due to poor choices. Rock stars and musicians often pick up women who are fans. These women love them as people without even knowing them. This lowers the odds of those guys picking up women who will falsely accuse them. From what I've witnessed many athletes will pick up anyone. Many times these women know nothing more about the athlete than who they are. They don't care about them as people or know anything about them. Compare this to a guy like Channing Tatum who most American women think they are in love with. There are lots of mental factors in play here. As far as guilty athletes I think there are cultural aspects in place which are a major problem with pro sports. Many athletes grew up in poverty. Statistics show a direct correlation with poverty and sexual/domestic violence. Sadly many people become destined to repeat the cycle they grew up in. Compare this to actors and musicians who come mostly from middle class environments. My basic point is the fact that there are problems with the athlete culture, and these guys need to do better. Trouble can occasionally find anyone, but these young men need to a better job staying out of it. Rape accusations are becoming an epidemic with football players. Why don't we hear as many regarding other sports and public figures? True, but that's kind of my point. These guys should stop going around sleeping with everyone under the sun. He'll have it soon enough.
  15. Its funny how athletes always seem to be "targeted" while it's far more rare for actors and musicians to be "targeted". I think that says a lot.
  16. Best post on this topic. It's as simple as that. There really isn't much else to debate. Picking up random women at the bar before the draft just isn't a good idea.
  17. College football is weird that way. There are entire conferences where basically no one attends the games. The MAC is just one of them.
  18. That's the problem with these crimes though. How many times do we throw away the key on someone who didn't do it? How many times is someone cleared when they should have been held accountable? I think the answer is a lot to both questions.
  19. I'm sure everyone's daughter/son turns out exactly how their parents plan. Consider yourself lucky if you are such an amazing parent that your daughter never does anything stupid. It's easy to say things like that until you see what the world can do some people.
  20. I don't feel remotely sorry for these guys though. Poor choices often lead to these kinds of things. You hang around the wrong types of people, you will get burned. Maybe some of these guys should be a little more selective.
  21. Sometimes I feel like a grumpy old man, but I have one simple question. Wouldn't it be a good idea just to stay out of bars before the draft? Nothing good is going to come from it. At least wait to get drafted before being stupid.
  22. I hope to attend at the Dome. Everything I've read says that he generally performs for about 2 1/2 to 3 hours each show. I respect performers who do that. Too many guys are touring the world playing hour long shows. I'm not really the biggest Beatles fan (compared to many people) but McCartney seems like a bucket list type concert. He has so many great songs to perform.
  23. This is what complicates Whaley's legacy. He has done great with FA's and waiver wire guys, but has drafted terribly.
