Football is resistant to analytics because defensive alignment, offensive alignment and talent are rarely accounted for. If R-R-P is “effective” 70% of the time versus a nickel alignment in a 10 offensive set, then “run on first down and you’re screwed” is an embarrassing conclusion.

They didn't ruin the bowl system. OSU/Washington still meant something to a lot of fans. You forget the matchups we've missed over the years. College players WANT to play the Bamas and Clemsons of the world. They want their shots. As fun as the Bowl System was, the change was a response to the change in football culture. Winning the Peach Bowl doesn't matter to LSU players like beating Bama in the CFP does. The SEC championship is the most watched game all year for a reason.

Revisionist history alert. All year, we heard how Bama was the best CFB team in history, and everyone was a first rounder and no team could hold a candle to them. No team could cover 28 against the Bills or Cards or Raiders except this Bama team. Not from you, mind you. But Clemson was an afterthought by National Media types.
