  1. 1. Fair enough. But those numbers are also based on number of attempts. 30+ passes versus 20 carries. A normal good YPA passing is 7, and YPC is 5. So let's multiply Taylor's rushing totals by 1.4 to match a good passing total and still see where it lands hm. Right at 20th, just above an unadjusted Cam Newton and below an unadjusted Mariota. Still mediocre. 2. Funny how critical and accurate dance along the same line... 3. We are missing 1 starter on our rushing attack, that facet of our offense is "unhealthy?" Have you seen the rest of the NFL? 4. Sammy would've contributed more with good QB play yesterday. It's a common theme. He's waiting around wide open for passes that aren't coming. The tape doesn't lie.
  2. In the middle of the season, there are no options to fix anything. So stop talking coaching, defense, special teams, QB, OL, WR, offense in general, drafting, ownership, Sabres, Jack Eichel, Dak Prescott, your wife who hates you on Sundays, your boss who is making you work Christmas eve, your kids who don't call you anymore, your crippling spiral into self-doubt because you don't have enough money for retirement, okay? All of that pissing and moaning is useless! Just don't say anything.
  3. 1. If you total his rushing and passing number, he is still mediocre. And we have a terrible deep pass game this season. 2. Agree. 3. We still have far too many 3 and outs and failed conversions. With a pretty healthy OL and McCoy having a career year, I'm struggling to see how you are casting "blame" on them for offensive woes instead of the below average QB who is BRUTAL on third down and against the blitz. 4. Who cares what he's labeled? He isn't contributing enough on this team due to a host of factors, mostly his injury and our QB inadequacies. More nails in Taylor's coffin if he can't use a "top 5 WR." This offense will be "good enough to get us to the playoffs," when we have a dominant defense. We don't have that. We'll be on the outside looking in unless the D or O really steps up over the next 5 weeks.
  4. If his overall production sucked, but he was still efficient when targeted, I'd agree it was a lack of targets. That's clearly not the case. See above.
  5. It only takes 1 week against a good team to spiral back to .500. Let's hope this week isn't it.
  6. This is the excuse that seemingly every crappy QB gets right before his career ends. See: Trentative, EJ.
  7. Added along with games played. However, targets is effectively used in catch rate (which is plummeting), and would also have little to do with yards per catch.
  8. He's late because he's afraid of picks. Can't get intercepted if you don't throw.
  9. We had a winning record with Orton as a starter too. Being a solitary uptick from .500 doesn't get you into the postseason.
  10. Charles Clay, one of the Bills most expensive FA signings in the last few years, is on a steady decline that the Dolphins luckily missed out on. Not only have his numbers only gotten worse every year, the whispers about his bad knee that "needs draining" and on the eye test, he looks slow and ineffective both as a runner and pass catcher. His YPC this year has dipped below 10 yards! By the numbers: 2013: 102 tgt's, 69 catches for 759 yards, 6 TD's, 11 YPC, 67.6% catch rate over 16 games 2014: 84 tgt's, 58 carthes for 605 yards, 3 TD's, 10.4 YPC, 69% catch rate over 14 games 2015: 77 tgt's, 51 catches for 528 yards, 3 TD's, 10.4 YPC, 66.2% catch rate over 13 games 2016: (so far) 57 tgt's, 36 catches for 323 yards, 0 TD's, 9 YPC, 63.2% catch rate over 11 games Is Clay's lack of productivity something to watch going forward? With him basically being uncuttable due to our restructure of his deal, can this team afford a top 5 TE contract albatross around their neck for 300 yards and 0 TD's in 11 games? Do his contributions in the run game justify his bloated contract?
  11. There's a middle-ground. I don't believe if this team has Marcus Mariota under center, we only call 17 pass plays per game. Maybe we call only 24-26, but there's no way we take the ball out of his hands for quarters of a game. Not to mention it's a chicken and egg scenario. Are we super run dominant because we are deficient at QB and it's worked out for us? Or it's worked and in reality TT can actually shine as a passer? I tend to the former. A different game, but Michigan didn't run the offense they did with Denard Robinson just because they scored a lot. To your question, no. Because that stat doesn't tell the whole story. EJ put us in the top 5 for scoring over the two weeks he played last season and you'd "expect" us to have been in a winning team if that was the only stat you got. When you throw the rest of the stats in the pot, as well as what you see with your eyes, we're right were I expected to be. Some games where we hit a bunch of HR's and blow teams out. Other games where we sputter for 3Q's and our defense dies on the field. And right around .500.
  12. I think Fitz on this team would be the polar opposite offense. Much longer possessions with better 3rd downs, worse RZ and TO percentages. Hard to say if that would be an improvement or just a different kind of mediocre.
  13. They don't ask him to do that because he can't, though. And when you have an offense with that glaring deficiency, you are easier to stop. Especially when your biggest strength (deep passes) seemingly are no longer in your repertoire. TT has been worse in almost every way this season and I have seen no reason to expect that to change. Have you?
  14. I believe we were #2 in the NFL in rushing with all QB rushing yards eliminated last year. Not saying it's not a bonus but is the difference of #1 to #2 worth the fewest TD passes and 3rd fewest passing yards?
  15. Tyrod is a big reason why. Nothing is more frustrating than watching a defense simultaneously attempt to contain and spy him on a 3rd and 4 and all he needs to do is play pitch and catch in a beautiful pocket, and he can't do it. If he was getting no time or opportunities, it'd be one thing. On every third down passing situation, a play is there to be made almost every single time. And we still suck in that situation.
