  1. Let me put your mind at ease bandito. I guarantee Sammy will not have 157 targets or 1400 yards next year.
  2. That's not a block. When you need 7 and there's two minutes left, yes it does matter. You simply cannot rely on the run game in that situation. Period.
  3. I just don't know about that. Sammy playing with the Bills QB that threw the most in recent memory hit 8 targets a game. That was good for 29th. The top 10 WR's in targets per game in 2016 had QB's like: Jameis Big Ben Brady Eli Dalton Luck Bortles Brocketship Palmer Rodgers Now the only 2 QB's TT compares to on that list is Bortles and Brocketship. Maybe he can be one of those 2/10 next year, but I just don't think so.
  4. Ah, you responded to bandit and it looked like you agreed with him. My mistake.
  5. That's fantastic. The sneaky thing about the "per target production" stat is that you need X number of targets to hit those numbers. It's not gonna happen. Sammy Watkins is not going to be the tenth highest targeted WR in Dennison's offense with TT at the helm. I think you're the one "not paying attention." Now if we trade for Phillip Rivers or something, then I could see it. 5 WR's in the NFL recieved 10 targets per game in 2016. And Sammy Watkins paired with the 20th or so best QB in the NFL will be one of them next year? Check or cash?
  6. Some folks really think this. Insane. I think I'd bet $100k on Sammy not hitting those numbers if he played 15+ games this year.
  7. I think we should all expect growing pains this year. Too many decent players lost to be entirely offset by McD and the 4-3.
  8. I don't care if we rush and pass for 50 yards combined as long as we're winning.
  9. I think the real sticking point I have with this whole situation is are we really gonna let Sammy go if he doesn't play 10+ games? I get it if that's what they wanna do but man. I think I'd have rather exercised the option and given him another year to figure it out. Keeping him on the roster doesn't preclude us from looking for or finding a replacement, IMO. We have maybe 2 years of TT rebuilding. If the unthinkable happens and TT is starting opening day 2018 for any reason, why not give Watkins another year where SB isn't on the table realistically to figure it out? It's not like him or his one year cap hit is gonna be the reason we don't win the Lombardi. Besides, you gotta figure 8 games of Watkins is better than 0 games, no?
  10. Well, maybe. But 18th D versus 5th compared to #1 run game versus 25th? Might not be so large of an effect. There were always bad takes, now there's just more of them. All you can do is demonstrate how insane they are. Yeah that defense really carried Wilson to 35 TD's and 8 picks in 2015. Richard Sherman was calling his offensive plays, I bet.
  11. Wilson's run game was 25th last year. He still won 10 games and went to the playoffs.
  12. I can't believe we only got 1 first for pick 10 this year. Fire McDermott.
  13. He said without a hint of irony. Is your own sarcastic, condescending tone a satire of the highest level? Or, more likely, you don't find it nearly as intolerable, well, because you're the one doing it and clearly it's different. And it's not like you have Twitter followers. Behold, the words of man bashing others for being sarcastic and condescending. Because the moral high ground never tasted so good when you're playing in the mud with the rest of them. "Gather 'round and hear me out. Either you are closing your eyes to a situation you do not wish to acknowledge, or you are not aware of the caliber of disaster indicated by the presence of a football team in your community. You say you're embarrassed by a team that can never make the playoffs? You say you're embarrassed by upper management, middle management, and lower management? You say you can see Pegula buckling his knickerbockers below the knee? You say you're smarter than all of them? Smarter than the Owner? Smarter than the Coach? Smarter than the GM? Brothers. Sisters. I hear your plea. The team would be perfect if only you could call the shots! This team can't even get through the National Anthem without you insisting you can sing it better! In fact, you are sure you could make this team better simply by accident, because the odds say a brilliant person like yourself could field a winner, if for no other reason than because you're nowhere near the level of dumbassery that inhabits OBD. Well, good news is coming your way, and it starts right here, right now, on this very day and for a limited time with exclusive access to the entitled few who are brave enough, smart enough, and dare I say BRILLIANT enough to prove your genius, once and for all, in front of friends, peers and egocentric thin-skinned fist-humping sports writers."
  14. Every case is different, too. In terms of scheme fit, player role, etc. NE trading Collins and to a lesser extent Jones worked because they signed or acquired cheap vets to fill their roles adequately. The Browns trading for Collins also worked, because they were a team that needs young stars to build around and certainly had the money to lock Collins up long term. Ditto for the Richardson trade. The Browns got what looked like a decent RB at #3 overall. Rather than build around him as the focal point, because he wasn't good enough to do so, they shipped him off to a team who was looking for a decent RB as their final piece. Richardson nose-dived, but at the time, it almost made sense for both teams. Making it as simple as "Good teams don't do X, bad teams do X" is foolhardy and simplistic.
  15. Irrelevant. I'm responding to "he's a pick machine in big time situations and isn't clutch," which is factually incorrect.
  16. 3. He has 4 comebacks and 4 GWD's in 5 post season appearances. He has 21 GWD's in 5 regular seasons. In his career, his 4th Q numbers are 39 TD's to 12 INT's. In his career, trailing with 4 minutes to go, he throws 7 TD's to 4 INT's. In his career, when he's tied or trailing, he's thrown 68 TD's to 28 INT's and rushed for 6 more TD's. There's no evidence to support anything you're saying. It may be time to buy the hype. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/W/WilsRu00.htm
  17. Did thinking EJ sucked mean not supporting the team? What about Cassel?
  18. It has nothing to do with the truth of the statement. We DID in fact trade 2 first round picks for pick #4. It is false to say "we did not trade 2 first round picks for #4." I can see this is all in a misguided attempt to preemptively dig trenches in case we do end up trading Sammy for nothing. Good luck to you. "How many picks did we use to trade for Alex Smith?"
