Jeremy Maclin (Agrees to 2 year deal with Ravens)
BringBackOrton replied to BillsDiehard's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's exactly right. That's why Maclin picked Baltimore. -
What if he stays healthy and plays at a high level all year?

I'm not sure you know what replaced means, seeing as they were on the team at the same time. Ah, yes. "Statistics are lies when I don't agree with them." Always a classic. The last 3 CB's signed or traded for by the Pats were Talib, Revis and Gilmore. The one who got the most significant contract was Gilmore. But yeah, those statistics and Bill Belichick are just lies and fools. It's not like BB knows CB talent. He only developed one of the best young CB's in the game in Butler, and signed those guys above. I'm sure Gilmore is truly the deficient one by a large margin. Because Jon Williams stunk.
-
Are you just making things up? Here's a list of the dog crap we've seen take snaps at RB. Boobie Dixon, Boom Herron, Jon WIlliams, Reggie Bush, Bryce Brown, Cierre Wood. We still haven't replaced Karlos Williams, FYI. And now we need to replace Gilly too. Gilmore is top 10 by yards allowed, TD's allowed, passer rating etc. And Talib played on the Pats for 2 years.
-
And it's a silly one because the Pats have 3 quality RB's in their stable, as opposed to the Bills one very good RB and then trash, in a position that's traditionally injury prone. Gilmore is absolutely top 10 by the numbers. The last 3 CB's the Pats have acquired via trade or FA? Talib, Revis and Gilmore. What's the common theme there?

I basically invalidated your "woe is me, the million dollar athlete" post, so I'd say I subtracted the nonsense from the conversation. -

Imagine having to do your job when someone close to you has recently gotten ill or died. No Americans can relate, I'm sure. -
They acquired Chad Johnson and Haynesworth for peanuts.

Absolutely agreed. The only place a guy like Yates fits in today's NFL is behind an entrenched young guy like Carr, where he has something to offer in the mentorship/film room role. He's not good enough to offer any real competition and not young enough to earn development time. He would deserve it.

4 players versus 1. What an equal comparison. He was a Pro Bowler his final year here. The Pro Bowl is a joke anyway. Gilmore was a top 10 CB in the NFL. Not sure what more you can reasonably expect from a first rounder besides top 10 at a premium position. He probably won't make the HoF though. Shaq Lawson and Tre White better prepare for this fan's expectations.

If Cardale wasn't recruited for Urban's system and was such a clear great NFL prospect and never lost a game, why did going back to school drop him 4 rounds? If Cardale and/or his agent thought going in the top ten was likely or worth risking, why did he return to college? We all know he didn't go to OSU to play school. Any GM who would take a QB who started 3 games in the top ten would've joined Doug Whaley in the bread line. Cardale went back for a year and STILL wasn't ready for the pros. Anyone arguing he was a better prospect than a guy like Mahomes with almost 3 years of film probably roots for the Buckeyes.
-
That's one guy talking about "could be's." I "could" go as high as the first round if I declared tomorrow. Johnny Manziel "could be" the #1 overall pick over Clowney. He wasn't though... The bottom line is that 32 GM's decided he wasn't worth more than a late 4th. And 3 of those same GM's thought the 2017 class were worth 3 top 12 picks. You're welcome to die on the hill that the next Brian Brohm or whoever is a better prospect than someone who went in the top 10. I know that Bills QB's taken after round 3 are basically the next Brady until they retire at 25.

Can we get Zay Jones at 44?
BringBackOrton replied to BrycePaup4ever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If every player we draft ends up great, it won't matter what it cost to draft them. -
Cardale was never a top 10 pick. That's a gross exaggeration. Then why didn't Cardale go higher? Just because Tom Brady was better than Brady Quinn doesn't mean that worse prospects are better than better prospects. They are better talents. They were prospects that were good enough to go in the top 10. Cardale was not. This is inarguable. You sound like one of those fans who argue that Peterman will be the best QB in the draft. Nonsense.

What would you trade for Phil Rivers right now?

You didn't even watch Rivers play, so I would hope not. -

Was that before his "rehab" at Bruce's? -

Would that make it fair to say "I'm guessing lots of his TD's and yards were in garbage time" then? I can understand your contention, and I may even agree. I just think 2016 Rivers is the exception, not the rule. -

That's really unfair. 12 of their 16 games in 2015 had final score differentials of 8 points or less. 11 of their 16 had final score differentials of 7 points or less. That was 8 of their losses that year. And looking at 2016, 13 of their 16 games had final score differentials of 8 or less. 9 of their losses. You don't even watch Rivers but you're assuming he's in decline? I assure you, at this juncture, Rivers is a leagues better passer than TT. Mobility is nice, but QB ability is better. Brady is also a statue. -

Yeah, he added nothing. To answer your question, the guy I responded to was talking about planning for a new QB taking the helm in 2019. I normally don't respond to folks with less than 100 posts for this very reason. Too much time spouting off and too little time reading. I think Rivers got unlucky and had a "down" year, like most QB's not named Brady or Rodgers have every once in a while. He's one year removed from 4700 yards, 29 TD's and 13 INT's. I think it's likely he returns to that form for at least 1 to 2 years. And with those numbers, I find it hard to lay the blame of the last two seasons entirely on him, but him having a down year and the team unable to be successful with him on the roster both made him easier to attain. Rivers is one of the better QB's in the NFL, can make all the throws, can run a two minute drill, and is consistently above average almost every week. I think it's clear why I'd take him over TT in 2017. Is there any doubt guys like Clay and Sammy would be utilized much more with Rivers under center? His skill set would take advantage of our three best players on offense, Shady, Watkins and Clay. And seeing as our defensive improvement this year will be limited, I think the only way for the Bills to be competitive in 2017 is to improve the offense even more. Rivers would do that. We are talking all things being equal now. -

Woah! You may be the only man on that particular hill.
