Brady took paycuts for different reasons than Star. Kroft’s contract is easily escapable. Maybe we should be paying JP and Levi $10M per because they also both started on a top 3 D. So your argument is that Star is the Sammy Watkins decoy of DT’s??

I also watched him this season. I watched the guy “eating up space” get driven back by single teams. Did he make some good plays? Sure. Did he have a decent amount of bad plays on tape? Absolutely. Combine that with his bloated contract, which McBeane restructured, it sounds like me, McD, Beane, and Star all thought that taking a paycut was reasonable due to his performance.

No. Minshew went 6-6 as a starter on a team Nick Foles couldn’t win a game on. Or put it this way, Minshew went .500 on a team with a bottom 10 D, who was actively trading star players with a fractured locker room. The competition was last year. Foles went 0-4. I agree about finding another body for a QB competition, a guy in the second or third would be right for that team. But Minshew is being severely underrated. You could EASILY make the argument he had a better rookie year than Josh did, and I love Josh. I’d still take Josh over Minshew going forward, but don’t sleep on him.

Minshew threw 6 INT’s last year. I also question his arm strength but he’s already far surpassed Fitzy. He may be a high end backup, or a journeyman starter in the NFL, or a guy who starts on a team for 6 years and gets them into the playoffs a couple times, none would surprise me. However, there is zero reason to think he can’t improve.

The Seahawks obviously went for the safe option with Wilson, and uh, they haven’t done anything since. That’s nothing, right? Didn’t they fail by playing it safe? FYI, Wilson did not carry his team when he had an All-Pro supporting cast either.

That's because your definition of good is wonky. The Seahawks haven't won since Russell Wilson got paid. In fact, they've gone 2-3 in the postseason (of course, one of those losses to the Boys), missed the playoffs one season. If you remember the time, it wasn’t that different at all. There were lots of prognosticators saying Russell Wilson only won with a stacked roster and didn’t deserve to be paid like Aaron Rodgers for it. Those people now have retreated back under the floor boards, but they existed and it was a hot TBD debate.
