THE big problem for the Bills QB situation is...
buffalostu2 replied to KingRex's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Was the injury to Matthews a "freak injury" - No. An obscure one maybe but not freak injury. Football has injuries and it was a normal play not a kevin kolb mat trip. A good "process" as coach continually preaches, has risk mitigation built in, The Bean/McDermott process fell down in this respect and we will see it week one with QB/WRs not being on the same page no matter who is at QB. Trading Sammy has multiple levels of impact that have been discussed in other threads and being ungodly thin at outside WR is just another one of them. So much in fact that a WR that could have been cut (Holmes) now looks like a starter. Processes have process controls are measured. -
Training camp practice will be live-streamed on BB.com

I now know that Marcel Dareus is not very flexible but willing to give his QB pre practice hugs. All in all it was a good reason to have an early beer here out west and kick off camp. -
Cousin Eddy to Clark Grizwold anyone????

Sour Sal Maiorana Strikes Again...
buffalostu2 replied to ROCBillsBeliever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Here is the positive spin. If you look at the results of losing that last game it was a brilliant move by Whaley. If we win that game we are in a log jam draft position wise with a bunch of other teams. By losing we secured the #10 pick which we parlayed into an additional first rounder next season by trading back. It is doubtful that Mahommes would have been available later in the draft for us to trade out of our pick had we won that final game. I am not a fan of tanking or losing games on purpose but in hindsight it meant nothing with the eventual house cleaning. It will all come down to who we select next year with the KC pick but right now losing that game looks brilliant. -
Tom Brady to release book in September
buffalostu2 replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wonder if there is a chapter on getting beaten the tar out (like the Texans playoff game last year) at age 39 and back at practice 3 days later fully recovered WITHOUT the use of HGH? If so maybe James Harrison could write the prologue. -
Well put! And while I wasn't around for the Bills games there, I am more impressed with the guys who carried kegs into the Rockpile to watch games than someone jumping off their father's Land Rover onto a folding table. Young and old have both been through the 17 year drought. It just seems like the older crowd is more focused on understanding the game, team infrastructure, and Xs and Os than the shock value of "Bills Mafia" tweets and videos.

Gil Brandt's Top NFL RBs and QBs of All Time
buffalostu2 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tony Dorsett won every award imaginable. Heisman, Rookie of the year, MVP, Superbowl, etc. He was way better than Emmit Smith and a cowboy fan over the age of 40 would tell you that. Emmit Smith benefitted from one of the top offensive lines in NFL history. -
How is this not a rebuild? New Coach and staff, new GM and administrative staff, new scouting staff and not to mention new Offensive and Defensive schemes. That is the entire organization. I wonder how they are even finding their way around the building. What examples are there out there where this much change has occurred and found immediate success for a franchise? What is the normal timeline for the successful full scale changes? For everyone who was clamoring for full scale change you are about to find out that change for the sake of change does not usually generate positive results (see original Obama campaign slogan).

Knowing what you know today about Kelly and Brady
buffalostu2 replied to mead107's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It depends, if I draft Brady do I get to pre snap headset him what the other defense is going to do for the first 4-5 years so he can cheat the QB learning curve and develop into a superstar? -
Who are your day 2 targets?
buffalostu2 replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I didn't see any mention of WR Dede Westbrook. If you have not watched anything on him it is worth a look. He has a different gear and could be had late in Rd 2 or early 3rd. I also like Webb as a prospect. -
Kouandjio to LT experiment.
buffalostu2 replied to ChanOverChin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Groy at RT? I know Groy played well at center down the stretch but did anyone watch him play guard in the pre season? I was surprised he made the roster honestly. He is a monster that can hide at center but at guard and especially tackle he would be exposed. I like him as a backup center and swing guard but nothing more. Go to the tape before you pencil him in at RT. If Kuanjo at LT is the best combo then go for it. -
Don't forget that if Gilmore does leave and signs for big money the Bills are looking at an end of the 3rd round draft pick in compensation for free agent loss. Does that nudge you to let him walk? For me his unwillingness to stick his nose in and make tackles says enough. While we may have growing pains we will not have that problem with Darby and Seymour.

Pats win SB because Brady's feelings are hurt
buffalostu2 replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Am I suppose to believe that Tom Brady is really playing for 9 million dollars a year? One of the most competitive guys in football is making less than half what the other top QBs are making? What's going to happen next. - the NFL finds out Kraft is shoveling cash Tom Brady's way outside of his NFL contract or Brady retires and "buys" a stake in the Patriots in where no cash actually changes hands. These guys are shady. Plain and simple. I can't give them the benefit of the doubt based on past behavior. -
Bills claim the Geno jaw breaker IK

I wonder if Joe B will ask Rex if he ordered the code red? -
Until one of the other RBs proves they can pass block Freddy is going to continue to make the roster and see reps on third downs. If it was all about running ability CJ would still be here.

Bills sat down with a lot of QBs
buffalostu2 replied to chris heff's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It looks as though this is a partial list. 17 names would just be a sample. I believe each team is allowed to interview 60 players at the combine. It is still a lot of QBs though. I guess Whaley is doing his due dilegence as they did when they selected EJ. -
Fred Jackson cut??(UPDATE: Pegula says Hell To The No)

Who is going to pass block? Not one other back on the roster can do it. -
The all Sam Bradford thread
buffalostu2 replied to NextYearGuys's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Doesn't throw better than EJ? Bradford has an elite arm and is worth whatever price at 27. We have $30+ M in cap room. Where are you going to spend that and not have 14M leftover for a QB? Please don't throw out a laundry list of the top free agents expecting them all to come to Buffalo. We are more realistic than that I would hope. -
What happened to the analytics guy?
buffalostu2 replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's fairly simple. Sticking a couple of resources in the corner to crunch numbers does not change the process of drafting players or ultimately winning games. The task at hand is to change the culture at One Bills Drive to a data driven decisioning making organization. For that you need a solution implementation resource who specializes in change management, not number crunchers. More important than the complexity of the data is how you utilize it. Like most organizations the Bills use traditional decision making methods, "I think.....". Organizations like this utilize data to back up their "I think" decisions rather than using the data to lead them to the course of action they should take. The culture at One Bills Drive is the problem. People need to be accountable and their processes measurable. Two guys in the corner analyzing data and sharing it in a weekly meeting will not help anything. An entire organization (owners, coaches, players, staff, etc.) measuring their processes and using data to drive their decision making will. -
WGR is so negative it's hard to listen too. It is a bunch of loud mouths that for whatever reason have risen to the level of reflecting the attitude of the Bills fan base (aside form Sal). They all buried the Bills for the last month and will not own up to being wrong for even one week. It really embarrasses me that EJ had to give a speech to the team about the Bills players against the world. I don't know if the Bills know how man fans support them and are behind them and don't waste each day playing arm chair GM second guessing every decision the organization makes. Go Bills! - Step on the gas and don't look back.
