  1. Good player, good guy, but too often injured. I wish him well in his recovery and in his career, but I don't wish his current team well. That said, the Jests don't need my ill wishes - they are plenty terrible on their own.
  2. You have to pick your poison. Haack is a better placeholder on FGs and PATs, but he clearly doesn't have the blig leg to flip field position that Bojo has. In a couple Green Bay games I have seen, Bojo has launched some huge kicks, but there have also been compaints by PK Mason Crosby about his poor holds.
  3. If I recall, Tuel had played a pretty good game up to that point.
  4. Thanks for the tip. I watched the video and went right to the 50 second mark, and you can pretty clearly that AJ partially blocked and redirected the kick.
  5. No Sprio Dedes or Beth Mowins. That makes me happy. Andrew Catalon isn't the best, but he's tolerable.
  6. Bad teams are not trading young, talented starters on their rookie deals. A more realistic type of player to get is a veteran guy who can still play but is on the downside of his career. It makes sense for a bad team to move on from the veteran so they can give a younger guy a chance to play and develop, shed some salary (if not this year, then next), and obtain some assets. The Von Miller of guards. The Jerry Hughes of guards (if the Bills were a bad team). What guards fill this profile? I have no idea, but I suspect that many on this board do. Does Norwell fit that profile?
  7. The only time I went to a Bills bar in NYC, it was McFadden's. That was 15 or 20 years ago. It was a lot of fun and perfect for me because I was staying in Midtown. Too bad they're no longer in business, but there are great Bills fans everywhere and it sounds like there are several great new options.
  8. Hey - we could use Lee Smith for the next 2 weeks while Knox is out. He can be our blocking TE and Sweeney our pass catching (I will not say field stretchng) TE. But we have Gilliam and PS players, plus don't play anyone good in the next 2 weeks, so no need to give up an asset.
  9. My apologies if I offended anyone. I deleted the post. Probably not the best attempt at humor in the year 2021.
  10. I agree that AZ has had a lot of luck this year. Those kinds of teams tend to fade in the playoffs, when their luck runs out. Anyone remember the year Dick Jauron was the NFL coach of the year with Chicago? That team had every lucky bounce known to man all season long, but went nowhere in the playoffs and they never came anywhere close to the same level of success and Jauron was fired. I won't get into what he did next, as it's too painful for all of us. I think the top AFC teams can compete just fine with the top NFC teams, the Bills included. I think the Rams and Tampa are the two biggest challenges in the NFC and would be tough to beat in the Super Bowl, but them winning the game is not a foregone conclusion by any means. The current NFC winning streak in the Super Bowl stands at 1.
  11. I've mentioned on this board before that I lived in the same neighborhood in Chicago as Marv Levy and saw him in the grocery store once. He wasn't in Buffalo and had long-since been retired, so most people didn't recognize him. I did a double-take and then said a friendly hello, mentioned I was from Buffalo and told him I was at the greatest comeback game vs. Houston. He replied "I was there too..." Classic response from a great guy. I met him again at a sports bar (up the block from the grocery store) where he was signing copies of his then-new book. His wife and step daughter also used to periodically watch the Bills games at one of the main Bills bars in town (Marv did not join them). Very nice people. Generally speaking, I agree with the OP and I leave celebrities (including athletes) alone when I bump into them. There are occasions where a brief conversation or more are appropriate (golf tournament, charity event, etc.), but as another poster said, you need to "read the room."
  12. I feel the same way. I thought that Sanders was, at 34, past his prime and that the fact that he was on his 5th team in about 3 years was indicative that he wasn't a valuable asset. I also said on this board that I hoped to be proven wrong, and I have been. Sanders has been great. I can only conclude that Beane, as a competent NFL GM, knows more than I, as a fan, know. And yes, I am a big Davis fan and would like to see him get more targets, but he's made some big catches nonetheless and his time will come. The team is also making a greater commitment to the run, which is necessary and important, but also results in fewer targets for a guy like Davis.
  13. In all seriousness, the Bills have now lost 2 offensive linemen from their Practice Squad, so they need to replace this depth in the event of injuries. I'm sure they can find a veteran backup looking for work to take Hart's spot.
  14. I could be wrong, but I believe that only 2 teams in the 50+ year history of the Super Bowl were undefeated going into the game. The Dolphins in 1972 won the game and the Patroits in 2015 lost it. The likelihood of the Bills going undefeated was extremely small and the chances that they drop a couple of games were high. They lost a tough game on the road, at night, against a good opponent and still had a chance to win if their QB had not slipped on a sneak late in the game. Yes, I am still frustrated about Monday night, but looking at the bigger picture, the Bills will be fine and still have as good a shot to win it all as anyone.
  15. This does not sound crazy at all. I had the same thought as it all unfolded.
  16. The two plays were similar in that both were forward passes.
  17. I don't dip my wings in either white substance. I like the flavor of the wings just as they are. Either blue cheese or ranch is fine for dipping the carrots and celery, but being a tranditionalist, I go with the blue cheese. As a Buffalo native, I just know that's how it's done. It is similar to Chicago, where ketchup on a hot dog is simply not done.
  18. Early in his career, I liked Watt. He was a great player that became more than he was expected to be. After he got some notariety, he became full of himself, and almost a caricature. The word on the street is that there isn't a camera he doesn't like. I don't see that as a great fit for a pretty humble Bills team. Not to mention Watt's age, injury history, and price tag. We are way better off with the young guys. In the same vain, as much as I respect Mahomes as a player, I was getting sick and tired of seeing those State Farm commercials featuring him and talking about the "Patrick price." During Sunday's game, it was great to see NBC cut from a "Patrick price" State Farm commercial to seeing Mahomes' sullen face on the sideline while the Bills were dominating the Chiefs. We'll see what happens, but Allen is a guy who would likely be a great pitch man and a guy who could land a bunch of endorsement deals. I don't begrudge him any of it, but I don't want anything to detract from his focus as a player and his drive to improve every year.
  19. Over the years, I have tried to temper my emotions during the games. It hasn't worked very well. I try not to scare my wife and kids. All that said, I lead a very busy life with a lot of stress and very little free time, so the Bills games are a bit of an escape for me and an opportunity to emote. So, yes, I curse loudly and frequently during Bills games. The good news is that in the last couple of seasons, they have been curses of joy and elation and not of anger and disappointment like in the past.... I should add that this is my behavior while watching the game at home. When out in public (at a sports bar or stadium), I keep it a little bit more in check. My wife and kids are stuck with me, but I don't want to scare or offend other people and I don't want to end up in jail or be taken away to a padded room in a straight jacket.
  20. I subscribe to Sports Illustrated and I recall a feature article about Allen a year or two before he declared for the draft. He may have even been on the cover. Had I known that he would be a Bill and an MVP-caliber player, I would have saved that issue. Same goes for all of my hockey, football, and baseball cards that got lost over the years....
  21. The takes in this video are fair. The Bills D is playing great, but need to show it against a stronger offensive opponent. They will get their opportunity on Sunday.
  22. Gilmore is the thin version of Dareus.
  23. Does anyone know of the Texans #1 (mentioned in the previous post), who is named Lonnie Johnson Jr., is the son of former Bills TE Lonnie Johnson? I did some searches online and couldn't find anything. Just curious. You'd think that the TV crew would have brought it up, but I'm not sure that Beth Mowins or Tiki Barber have ever heard of the Lonnie Johnson that played for the Bills.
  24. After seeing those shots during the game last night, I was waiting for the reaction on the internet and on this board...Even Al Michaels said that some "memes would be coming" or something along those lines. I was impressed, as I didn't think a guy as old as Michaels would even know what memes are.
