  1. So do I. Unfortunatley, my team is terrible, so this won't move the needle, but a good trade for the Bills.
  2. I assume the original post was sarcasm. I'd like to see the Bills make a move to pick up some OL help or a safety, but I'm fine with things if they don't. There are not too many players out there better than what the Bills have on their roster already that are 1) available for trade; 2) worth giving up the assets for; and 3) worth giving up the cap space for. I don't see them dumping a player they drafted and developed to free up a spot for a guy who is expensive, doesn't know the playbook, might disrupt the chemistry of the team, etc. I'm sure Beane is working the phones and will make a deal if the right one comes along.
  3. When I was that age, I drove like that. I also still drive 80+ all the time on the highway (just did a bit on my way to work this AM), but I only do so when the traffic conditions permit it. I wouldn't hold it too much against Rousseau. I'm sure he has better hand-eye coordination than I do or ever did. I do NOT give guys a break that put their hands on women and children or commit serious crimes.
  4. Probably not the best choice to ruin your entire family life over football, when your football career only has about 2 months left.
  5. Two comments in response to some of the posts above: 1. Rodgers isn't retiring. He has 50 million reasons to play out this season and next. 2. The only logic to the Packers trading this guy is that he's a UFA, so he could potentially leave after the season and they could get nothing and/or they don't have the cap space to sign him to a market value contract next year. (Two caveats - 1. I only know he's a UFA because someone said it above; and 2. I have not factored in compensatory picks, but I don't know how that system works. I can guarantee that someone else on this board does.)
  6. I always liked Sam. He was my best friend's favorite Bill. Good to hear that Sam has responded well to the cancer treatments so far. For college football fans, an interesting tidbit - Sam's son Isaiah Gash is a running back for Michigan. He's 4th or 5th on the depth chart, so he doesn't get a lot of snaps, but because the team is having a good year, there are a lot of blowouts, affording reps to some of the guys further down the depth chart like Isaiah. https://mgoblue.com/sports/football/roster/isaiah-gash/23052
  7. I guess each of the Bills and Dolphins are now down a starting safety. In the case of the Dolphins, I feel bad for the player, but not for the team.
  8. I watched a few Texas games when Ehlinger was the QB there. He's got a lot of moxie and is an excellent football player. He's a scrapper. He'll work hard and know the playbook. He's athletic and mobile and seems to be a tough runner. He lacks elite NFL QB arm talent, but can compensate with his other strenghts. I think he's good enough to play competent football and win some games, but lacks the talent for him or his team to be elite. With a great defense and running game, I could seem him being a decent starting QB and maybe getting to the playoffs, but probably not good enough to get to a Super Bowl.
  9. Yes, Brady yelled at his offensive linemen last week, but I think that he's historically been a pretty good team player and I think that he's a guy that is willing to take the blame on himself. I'm not providing any hard evidence - it's just an opinion from watching a lot of football over the years. Also, guys were lining up to sign with Tampa when Brady went down there so they could play with Brady and potentially win a Super Bowl. It worked out pretty well for them. His 7 Super Bowl titles and tremendous team success also speaks to him being a great leader, love him or hate him. I also think that Brady, on mulitiple occasions, took less than his market value in salary so that the team would have money to sign other players. Rodgers, on the other hand, as this thread points out, is a total douche and despite his tremendous talent, has not achieved the same level of team success that Brady has. Off the top of my head, Brady has played in 10 Super Bowls and won 7 and Rodgers has only made it to the Super Bowl once (winning it), despite getting close many times.
  10. I'd like one spot for Mike W (MSW2112). Thank you!
  11. I'm not sure where to post this, but I am flying into Buffalo from Arizona for the Sunday night Packers game and two friends are driving in from Chicago. It's my first Bills home game in many years and my friends' first one ever. We've been planning this for several years. Based on my time on this board, there's no better place to park than Hammer's Lot. I'd like some help on how to reserve a space if possible (we only have 1 vehicle), how much it will cost, and how early need to be there on Sunday. Thank you! If I don't get any response here, I will post to "The Stadium Wall."
  12. I posted in another thread that given that the Bills have 1 loss at this point in the season, the loss to the Dolphins is the "best" game for them to have lost. They needed to beat the Rams. It was the league opener, prime time, against the defending Super Bowl champs. It set the tone for the season. They only get to play the Chiefs, Ravens, and Titans once, so beating those fellow AFC contenders was critical, as each win amounts to a 2-game lead over those teams. They will have a 2nd shot at Miami, in which they can negate the first loss. Plus, the way things have shaken out, Miami now has 3 losses, so despite beating the Bills, the Bills have a 2 game lead on them which will be difficult for Miami to close. At home, with a healthy Tua and no heat issues, they beat a mediocre (at best) Steelers team by 6. The Bills dispached that same team by 35, sitting all of their starters for the 4th quarter.
  13. While there's probably nothing here (as mentioned above, refs have families, kids, grandkids, etc. who are fans and might like a player), it still is a bad look and shouldn't happen. This official should be fined or suspended or terminated.
  14. As much as I hate the Jests, I feel bad for this kid. He's got great talent and was off to a great start in his NFL career. I also don't think the Jests were a real threat to the Bills this season, even with Hall at 100%. There are two issues with this injury: 1) he's lost for THIS season; and 2) given the severity of the injury, he might never be the same player he was. Given today's medical technology, many players bounce back in a year or 2 and are just as good as before, but every player is different and RBs take a lot of pounding. Wish him the best.
  15. There's a lot of parity in the NFL right now. Teams like the Jets, Dolphins, Patriots, Broncos, Steelers, Colts, Browns, Chargers, Titans, etc. (and most teams, the list goes on) play close games against each other and given a play or two here or there, one team wins. These are usually 1-score games. Teams like the Bills and Chiefs are above the parity fray. They beat the "parity" teams by large margins. By way of example, the Fins beat the Steelers 16-10 at home, whereas the Bills beat the Steelers 41-7 at home. Sure the top teams have off weeks (Bills @Ravens), letdowns, or fluky games (Bills@Dolphins), but, athough the Jets and Dolphins have greatly improved and are decent teams, they are not of the Bills' (or Chiefs') caliber.
  16. I'm not upset that the Dolphins put Tua back in the game from a Bills perspective. I'm no fan of Tua, but the real problem I have with it is that they put this guy's health and life in danger. They had no business sending a severly concussed guy back on to the football field. It was a pretty scary scene the following Thursday when he got laid out against the Bengals. The Bills loss was mostly about an uprecedented number of injuries and a crazy heat situation. The Bills were playing with third string offensive linemen, DBs and WRs, with lots of guys playing out of position. It's pretty amazing that they still dominated the stat line and were a play of two away from winning that game. If Allen makes the throw to McKenzie on 4th down in the front corner of the end zone, a THROW he makes 90% of the time, they probably win the game. (Now it's true that McKenzie might not make the CATCH 90% of the time....) As to the Bills record, I think most would agree that to be 5-1 after that start to the schedule is fantastic. And it is truly better that we lost to the Dolphins, who 1) we get to play again, so we can negate the loss in the standings, and 2) they have now lost 3 games already, so we are up 2 games on them without even having played them again, than having lost to the Chiefs, Titans, or Ravens, who we only play once and have better records than Miami. Sure, it would have been better, standings-wise, to lose to the Rams (an NFC team), but winning that opener on the road, in prime time, against the defending Super Bowl champs was critical for setting the tone for the season and sending a message to the rest of the league. So, all in all, I think the Bills are in the best position they could be in, given 1 loss.
  17. I did not watch any of Allen's games when he was at Wyoming. I did and do still subscribe to Sports Illustrated (maybe that shows my age) and I distinctly remember an issue with Allen being on the cover in his Wyoming uniform. Usually you are not on the cover of SI unless you are pretty good at what you do. Boy I wish I had kept that old issue of SI. When Allen gets his gold jacket, that would have been worth something. Not so much in the recycle bin.
  18. Packers fans are very similar to Bills fans, although I think that they are nicer to opposing fans than many Bills fans are. In addition to that game, I was at one other Bills-Packers preseason game a few years before that one. Both times were great and the Wisconsin people were awesome. Hopefully, Bills fans will return the favor to my 2 Wisconsin friends who are meeting me in Buffalo for the game. They are Bills fans when the Packers are not playing. That game in Green Bay was right after rookie Josh had the big performance in Minnesota when the Bills were such a huge underdog, so I was hoping for a repeat performance. Unfortunately, it didn't happen that day, but we've had many since then and will have many more for years to come. It was worth the wait!
  19. I was at that game. It was a rough one for Bills fans. Josh was so green and the offense was putrid. I used to work for a firm that was founded in, and has its HQ in Milwaukee. I spent a lot of time there and became good friends with some guys who live there. They are great guys and passionate sports fans that love their team, similar to Buffalo folks. I flew into town and we drove from Milwaukee to Green Bay for the game. The Lambeau experience was great. We literally parked in some random guy's back yard and drank beers and ate food in his garage. We used the bathroom in his house. We also set up shop in a public park about three doors down from the guys house and grilled brats, ate, drank, etc. This was all about a block and a half from Lamebau Field. That day, we agreed that when the Packers came to Buffalo, we would all meet there for the game. They have seen and heard so much about the great gameday experience in Buffalo and want to experience it. I bought my flight into Buffalo (I live in the southwest now) and my buddies are driving in from Milwaukee. We are hitting the Sabres game Saturday night and the Bills-Packers on Sunday night. We're still working on tickets (who isn't - prices are crazy high) and I think the best place to park would be Hammer's Lot for the true Buffalo experience. It's been many years since I have been there, but I remember well bringing my then-girlfriend and now wife of 15 years to a game and doing shots out of a bowling ball....Any insight (how to get there - coming from the UB North Campus area), what time to get there to get a spot, what it costs, etc. would be greatly appreciated. Also, and I realize it's a longshot, but any information on tickets would be useful. We found some on Craigslist, but they looked too good to be true, so we took a pass. There are 3 of us, which is an odd number and making it harder to find something decent on the resale sites that is with any type of reason. Looks like $380 for pretty far up in the upper deck is the current best price.
  20. My biggest issue with the Amazon broadcast is that I always watch the games later than they are played, so I take advantage of the "recording" feature. When I finally get to watch the game, I like to fast forward through the pregame stuff and through the commercials. I have a Fire Stick attached to my TV. Using fast-forward on the Fire Stick is maddening. You can either go 15 seconds at a time which is miseably slow and tedious, or, if you go for the next option, the thing goes so ridiculously fast that you miss large chunks of the game. For example, if I try to fast-forward through a commercial break (other than 15 seconds at a time), but the time I press stop, I've blown through 3 or 4 mintues of game time after the commericals. I usually miss a drive or two. This is fine for a Bears-Commanders game, or a Broncos-Colts game, but this would not be acceptable for a Bills game or another competitive game. I don't have this issue when I watch through Amazon on my laptop, but I much prefer it on a full-sized television. I also don't have this issue with games I record on my Directv DVR or with other streaming services. I'm curous if a) anyone else is having this same issue; and b) if anyone has a suggestion for how I could make this work better. Perhaps I'm just "challenged" and that's the way it is....
  21. As awesome as it would be, I don't think Buffalo would get a SB, even if they built a dome. I don't think the area has enough hotel space, a large enough airport, etc. to accommodate a Super Bowl, not to mention the weather about town (regardless of the stadium) in February for other activities. Yes, Minneapolis has pulled it off, but that city is much larger, more cosmopolitan, more hotel space, a major hub airport, etc. While Minneapolis is colder than Buffalo, it isn't as susceptible to huge lake effect snow storms. And I'm a big a Buffalo supporter as any. So Buffalo isn't building a dome to attract a Super Bowl. Nashville probably can attract one. There may be other reasons to build a dome in Buffalo, but I am not jumping into that debate. Just commenting on the Super Bowl part. But hey, just because they can't bring the Super Bowl to Buffalo, there's nothing stopping the Bills from bringing Buffalo to the Super Bowl!
  22. Here's an interesting take and a different perspective: we're seeing lots of these really long kicks throughout the league. And the 62 yarder from yesterday cleared the bar by a lot. That kick might have been good from 70. The same kicker missed a much shorter kick later in the game. I think that he made the 62 yarder, and we are seeing these longer kicks succed, because nobody expects the kickers to make these. They just go out and give it a boot without much pressure. If they miss, nobody is going to criticize them. They are literally and figuratively "long shots." They are EXPECTED to make shorter kicks, however, which creates more pressure and leads to misses. The same thing happened to the Chiefs the prior week. Their kicker made a 59 yard FG, but missed a PAT. I see it when I play golf. Early in the round, I go out there expecting to play well. I muff makeable putts and shank drives into wide open fairways. My score on the front 9 is terrible. I basically give up on trying to get a decent score, have a few beers, relax, and just play out the back 9 for fun. No more pressure on myself. And guess what - that's when I boom the 300 yard drive and make the log putt. It's not an exact parallel, but clearly there's a significant mental part to golf that similarly applies to FG kicking. I don't know that NFL FG kickers are having a few beers at halftime to relax, but maybe it would help them too.
  23. To be honest, the NFL should set a minimum standard for visiting team facilities. Locker rooms should have a minimum amount of square footage, a minimum number of working showers, toilets, etc. On the sidelines, Miami should provide shade structures and working cooling equipment for the visiting sideline and northern teams like Buffalo should provide heaters, etc. in the winter Altenatively, the league should warehouse this type of equipment and deliver it to stadiums where weather conditions require it. The players are human beings whose ability to play is predicated on their health. What happened in Miami was a joke and, in addition to costing the Bills a game, it put the health of some players in jeopardy. It just shouldn't happen. That said, until it's legislated, the Bills may as well use it to their advantage, just like Miami did a few weeks ago.
  24. In my other (lenghy) post, I forgot to mention that I have a co-worker from KC who is a big Chiefs fan. He stopped by my office on Monday to tell me that 1) the Bills are great; 2) Josh Allen is awesome; and 3) he's very concerned about Sunday. He's a good guy that loves his team, just like I love mine. He knows good football when he sees it and respects it. He seems like a pretty typical Chiefs fan and I can work with that. Very different from obnoxious Cowboys, Raiders, Steelers, and Dolphins fans whose arrogance and false sense of superiority is tied to things that happened 20, 30, and 40 years ago.
  25. I did some work in KC a long time ago and enjoyed my time there. They have a really good team right now - an excellent coach, a great QB, a great TE, and a front office that has aggressively put pieces in place to be successful. They've won a Super Bowl with the current regime and have advanced deep in the playoffs many times. I respect them as an organization and they have a passionate fan base. I think that the Chiefs and Bills are the best 2 teams in the NFL by a pretty wide margin. If the Bills win on Sunday (which I think they will), the Bills will be the better team for right now, but truly, until the Bills can beat them in the playoffs and win a Super Bowl, you have to give the nod to Chiefs. I love the Bills, but I can also be objective. As to 13 seconds, while the Bills definitely screwed the pooch, it can't be lost that the Chiefs made some great plays when they had to, and took advantage of the Bills' mistakes. I hate Mahomes' brother and girlfriend/wife/baby momma, but they are really not significant. Neither one plays for or works for the Chiefs. The brother, in particular, should be nowhere near the field at an NFL game. For the sake of the Bills' playoff seeding and home-field advantage, I root against the Chiefs. I wanted them to lose to the Raiders, I want them to lose every week, and I want the Bills to crush them on Sunday.
