11/14/21 Gameday Thread: Bills at Jets First Half
Augie replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
I have lost faith in their ability to get that type of call right. We were fortunate there for sure based upon the way they have been calling games lately. -
Her mother and grandmother made it to 92. My dad made it to 89. People are living longer. It doesn’t matter that much to me as I’m not counting on SSI to be around as a primary source of income. I’m 62 and don’t need an extra income stream at this point as the wife is still working. I’ll wait, but that’s just me. People need to do what is best for their personal situation, and I won’t argue against that.
-
My mother is subsisting now and regretting taking her SSI early. She didn’t REALLY need it then, but it seemed wise to take it in her mind. She turns 94 in a couple weeks and regrets many of her decisions, especially this one. People live longer these days, so if you can, wait until you really need it. For us, I never counted on it still being around, to be honest. It will be nice to have if and when it happens.

Come on! Make the world a better place! This is an anonymous message board, and you should be able to afford the blackmail! Compliance is a growing nightmare as I understand it.

I heard your guy is kinda sketchy…..but he has mad knife skills! My wife is in wealth management. We’ve always been conservative and avoid debt other than a mortgage because money is so cheap. I get a kick out of all the get rich quick and easy ideas. Start saving early, save as much as you can afford even if it means some sacrifices and live well within your means. Too many people live their lives according to the “we’ll be fine if everything goes right” method. Things inevitably go wrong at times. Be ready for that.

My BIL basically maxed out his pension as a teacher in Rhode Island. It was as good as it was going to get, so he went to Massachusetts for 5+ years and got a second pension. Nice move! RI is so small it was no farther to drive to MA than the school he had been working at! I thought the difference was more dramatic than that after our last meeting with a financial planner. He shocked me with how large the difference was between taking at 62 vs 65. I guess it’s a gamble on how long you think you’ll live.

Buffalo are returning to the (near) Buffalo area

I think I know how to fix our running game!!! -
A) It should not have been released. Period. B) If he were not the jerk that he is, he wouldn’t have to worry about people finding out. .

This is what my FIL taught my wife. She came from a family that never used a credit card, even if they had 20 family members out to dinner. Cash. Always cash. If you don’t have the money, you don’t do it. Our son uses my wife’s bill paying method and maxes out his 401k beyond the company match. She figures out ALL the expenses of the year, divides it by 12 and sets that amount aside in a special account every month. You THINK you have it covered, but then the semi-annual car insurance bill shows up, or some other kick in the *&^%. Put the money aside knowing it's coming. No surprises, no pain. I promise it makes for a better life!
-
Start immediately, and go in seriously. Max out in every way you can. Get the full 401k company match if available. Best if you start immediately after school and get the advantage of compounding. Not too late to play catch up. Please don’t put it off, even if starting ASAP means some short term abstinence. We started in as soon as we got out of school. Time is your friend, don’t wait. Just my two cents since you asked.

Oh Sammy...I don't miss you. Pathetic effort here.

He didn’t alligator arm it for fear of getting hit. There was no danger involved. He just lost the ball. It happens. -
Thanks! We’ve found a great AV guy and he sends us links with stuff we need to order. Certainly not MY forte! He’s a great guy and we trust him. Big East basketball is on Fox Sports, so I just might have plenty of opportunities to enjoy 4K. .
-
So, am I correct that I have to stream it on the app to get 4k? I like to flip around, and that would be a little cumbersome (yes, I’m kinda lazy! ). Cable or DTV won’t get me there? If it’s a Bills game I’m all in all day, but I wish it was easier. Getting 4k has been a bit of a struggle after getting the TV’s a few years ago. Just sold our house and the mounted 4k TV’s stay, so I got a bigger one for the new house! .

I don’t mean to cast stones from my glass house, but this sounds a bit like a Bills fans in general. 🤷♀️ Who am I to judge?

Xavier barely held on vs Niagara for the win. It just may be a LOOOOONG year, and the last for our HC. Great recruiter, but Niagara is not Villanova.

I doubt they can possibly be as spectacular as she thinks she is. Cute young lady, but hardly the accomplishment she seems to think it is. I hate to be the wet blanket, but people who over sell themselves annoy me. .

Calling all RB and OL Gurus, Your Input Please
Augie replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
My son kept texting begging NOT to throw screens behind Sanders. I calmly explained that it was outside of my control. 🤷♀️. But yes, he’s like a matador on screen plays out there. Put Davis, or the peanut vendor, out there and it has to improve! Put them in positions to do what they do best. Blocking is NOT Sander’s thing. Having said all that, our blocking problems are 95% on the OLine. We will never be a serious contender until we have a solid and well coached OLine. I hope we can get there this year, but it has to be a MAJOR focus for NEXT year. . -
Calling all RB and OL Gurus, Your Input Please
Augie replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Does Vegas have odds on our OL coach being back next year? They should, because that would be interesting. I know we need some more talent, but I think there is more to it than that. -
What prompted the change to our offense, and other questions?
Augie replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
People gave me crap when I said we NEED to be able to run the ball. “WHY?” they asked, when it looked so easy to throw, especially in meaningless preseason. We need at least two new starters on the OLine. I expect that to happen this offseason. Guys we have starting could be decent depth, but are not starting material. I also think our OL coach has at best a 50/50 chance of being back next year. We have issues, but I think when we get our starters back we have a good chance to rebound. We were a top scoring team before last week, albeit against generally weak opponents. There is ZERO doubt they will be fired up and having Knox back adds a dimension we were sorely missing last week. -
Kurt Warner breakdown on Bills vsJaguars game
Augie replied to Buffalo Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’ve seen a few of Warner’s clips. I don’t hate the guy (and I love his story), but I never found them very entertaining or enlightening. I didn’t even click on the link above. Maybe my sample size wasn’t large enough to be valid, but there are people out there I’d rather spend my time and clicks on. -
Kurt Warner breakdown on Bills vsJaguars game
Augie replied to Buffalo Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
It seems the underdog JUCO experience might seem almost as cool as stocking shelves. He doesn’t seem to give Josh his due, for some reason. 🤷♀️ -
[Vague Title] Nothing new to me (us i guess)
Augie replied to Italian Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall
Thank you for the Cliff Notes version of the sequel. I missed the original version. Was it equally insightful? -
Making it to the bathroom in time still feels important to me. But that is waning just a bit…….
