What is the BEST pick you would trade for Saquon Barkley?
Augie replied to Rigotz's topic in The Stadium Wall
I thought it was silly when they drafted him where they did. I don’t want to pay him now that he’s all dinged up. If he didn’t cost a single draft pick I’d have reservations about the salary. But I would kick the tires. You can get good RB’s in all rounds. If my son were the best athlete capable of a high level college program and possibly a professional career, I’d lead him towards WR if possible. Twenty years ago that was different, but times change. -
Do NOT get me started! No, no Popeye’s is NOT on my list! Well, they are on A list. It’s a $&^% list. Permanently. I will forward my therapy invoices directly to you, thank you very much!

I’m in Publix almost every day. (I have no idea what I’ll want for dinner tomorrow!) It’s kind of like a Hampton Inn, nothing special buy reliable. Last trip to WNY for a game I went with the family into a Wegman’s. It was part tailgate shopping/part tourist attraction. We all enjoyed the experience, which is a VERY strange thing to say. I’m not sure if I’ve ever had a Publix sub, but they must be very popular based on the length of the line mid-day. But I’d be willing to bet Wegman’s would be my sub of choice.

Instead, The Pats* were awarded an extra comp pick, and that is where the tradition started. (My apologies, sometimes I can’t help myself.)

If it’s a “special brownie”, that might be a deal, and you get to eat your dessert first! Then DEVOUR the rest.

The craftsmen from the old country will appreciate your magnificent work! You could rent it out for other goat owners, like Chuck E. Cheese for goats on their birthdays! Count on me for your business manager. I have ideas!

So, you are planning a goat-ominium complex? Does zoning allow that? Let me know if you need help. I’m not very handy but I can come by and call 911 if you cut a finger off.

Todays Take on Generational Money Where is That Line ?
Augie replied to T master's topic in Off the Wall
My first job post-college was in banking in 1982. It was eye opening. You could get a CD for 17% but a mortgage was about 22%. CRAZY times! The people I thought were “wealthy”, the people in the beautiful houses with the fabulous cars, the flashy lawyers and brokers, taught me a lesson. My favorite house in Sea Pines (Hilton Head Island, SC) was bordering on foreclosure. The trophy wife would come in with tears streaming down her face several times a year, offering her jewelry if they could have another 30 days. The husband was a partner in one of the biggest law firms in town. My wife’s family probably had credit cards back then, but I never saw one. Lebanese family who said if you don’t have the cash to do it, you just don’t do it. Even if they took a couple dozen people to a nice restaurant, they paid cash. It’s a matter of mindset. Sadly, too many athletes grow up with little, and don’t understand that those giant paychecks won’t last forever. Put it aside and know you need a “second career” to make those earnings last. They went from zero to sixty in no time, and don’t understand they will soon go back to zero. -
All the more reason to seek and support the much smaller local places. They have a hard time competing against the giants, but they are where you go for a true quality meal, even if it’s a bit pricier. Even the “high end” restaurants named are just franchise joints. Some are OK, but none are great. Our favorite restaurants are often a hole in the wall next to a package store you wouldn’t DREAM of going into….unless you had local knowledge.

Almost the only time we ever do fast food is if we are driving long distance. Wendy’s is my first choice, and Arby’s would be next if there is one at our exit. I used to get Taco Bell for a late lunch a few times a year, and enjoyed it throughly…..until I regretted it. It’s fun, until the gross feeling sets in. Burger King does not react well with my system. I think I probably LOSE weight if I eat a Whopper. Bad idea when you never know when the next exit is coming up! McD’s…….has reliable bathrooms. I will say, Jersey Mike’s has some pretty good food. But I always prefer avoiding franchises in favor of independent local joints when I have the option.

He IS a small dog, and he wants to get paid before he gets broken (again).

Those are my favorite games! 😋 Unfortunately, punting turned out to be EXTREMELY DANGEROUS……… for us……….in the opener vs the Steelers.

Somehow, it just feels weird to see the word “beautiful” right next to “shack”. 🤷♂️ Your goat deserves more from you! Like….a goat palace! .

It was so awkward I couldn’t watch it all again. I felt badly for Dan Patrick. He still talks about that interview! Kyler was trying to play it coy like he didn’t know which sport he was going to play. It’s absolutely painful to watch, and I’m glad he’s not OUR guy! If you’re not going to talk, decline the interview. Pretty simple, as apparently is Kyler.
-
Put that up against ANY interview with Josh, and ask yourself which guy you prefer. It is NOT a difficult decision!
-
Look up Kyler on the Dan Patrick show then as yourself: Do you want this guy as your QB? I’ll pass, thank you. If you’ve seen it, you will remember it. It was THAT awkward. He ain’t no Josh Allen! https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwjF---OsKP2AhWkmuAKHXFwCPoQwqsBegQIAxAB&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3Daj8jG0aYdsU&usg=AOvVaw2hLXaJXL1iiBDUrqd1iKfN .

I used to go there for lunch when I lived in Sarasota. They moved the location a bit north and I’ve been to the new place once. They do a nice job of giving me a taste of my childhood. . Here in Atlanta there was a Ted’s knockoff called Barker’s Red Hots. They even had Loganberry and “Crystal Beach fries”. Sadly, they closed down a few years ago. Another “taste of home”. .

I played 18 holes of golf today for the first time in 20 years

The ridiculous cost of golf balls preceded the cost of “market price” chicken wings. WTF? I get mine online as used balls. I think it’s 80 balls per order. That gets me thru a few rounds. I may not be good, bit I am NOT slow. Wife gifted me new clubs a few years ago. I got her clubs in response. We have been out 3 times, tops. Maybe when she stops working, but she lives to work. -

This is the essence of the issue. I was a tennis guy. Dated tennis ladies in my adult single days. My wife had spent time in her youth playing tennis. She went to camps and took lessons. But we would never be close to the same level, so it was awkward. In golf you don’t need someone to hit you a good ball to hit a good ball. It’s not a back and forth thing. In golf, it’s you vs the course. And, of course, your mind. -
Again……an opportunity missed. Technically, it was the dog’s colorful poop that captivated me as a child. When I tried to emulate her results I got a reputation around the neighborhood. Dogs get away with almost anything! 😋

I was young. I failed to realize the financial opportunity. Millions lost! FAR more entertaining than an Andy Warhol soup can!

I just lost a little love for the horsey sauce…….
