The sheer numbers make me wonder who gets traded before the season. It’s a very Beane thing to do, some of these guys will have value, even if it’s a late round pick. Beane likes those to move around in the draft.

True! The best year was indeed a contract year. The good news is……this is also a contract year!

He was. I think most of the hate came because people thought he didn’t live up to his draft position. Where he was drafted is not his fault. He was solid against the run.

Some are whining, most are just curious about the structure. I trust Beane so I’m not too worried, but I AM curious what the real deal is. I just ignore those other people who think they are smarter than Beane, although sometimes it’s good for a chuckle or two.

Met a guy on my wife’s work team at Anchor Bar the day before the opener vs Steelers. I knew he was diabetic, but apparently there was a lot I don’t know. I expected a heavy guy, but he was very thin and in his 30’s. The longer I live, the more I realize how much I don’t know. I am an expert at ignorance!

I heard they wanted him in the NFC, which made me chuckle. Houston thinks they are relevant! 😂

I was in college driving home from Cincinnati to Buffalo with a buddy for Thanksgiving one night. For some reason I was in my parents Cadillac with all kinds of crazy features I was unfamiliar with. We get to Cleveland and veer right to go along the lake and the snow starts. Then it gets worse, then it gets REALLY BAD. Nobody on the roads but trucks. A night you just don’t go out. One feature I was unfamiliar with was a high beam setting where if no headlights are coming at you it automatically turns on the high beams. That annoyed the trucks ahead of me. I learned that the truckers did NOT like that, and they had spotlights they could shine back at me, blinding me like I was blinding them. This would turn my high beams off, until a few seconds after they turned the spotlights off. Then they flip back on. It’s snowing HARD, and there is nowhere to pull over. I can’t figure out how to change the settings in the dark while white knuckling just to stay on the road. I keep pissing off trucker after trucker. I slow down to get way behind them so as not to annoy, but along comes another truck. They must have been on the radio with each other, because eventually my buddy says “OK, now I think they are trying to kill us!”

I don’t know how it’s going to evolve, but we have a son still in his 20’s and it will affect those people the most. He’s spent about half of his working life at home and he’s been spoiled by the Covid work from home life style. He argues, correctly I believe, that he is MORE productive working from home. He lives near us in Atlanta, and one hour daily is generally considered a light commute. He could be working instead, and save his company on office space. My wife, on the other hand, has heard from those up top that it is time to get back to the office, and she mostly agrees. She deals with people and feels she’s more effective when it’s in person. She was in Boston and Philly last week, and NYC this week. She misses the interaction and it’s her job to inspire others. That is harder to do on a screen in your extra bedroom. I think it will come back, but there will be far less new construction of commercial high rises. They will be happy to fill the space they already have, so I think the actual skylines will not change as much from commercial construction as residential construction. Many people moved away from city centers, but I think that will come back more than the commercial space.

Looking at reviews and their website it appears to be alive and well. I’m not sure where I got that impression.

Strangely, I had just looked up Tempo a couple hours ago. I thought they had closed for some reason. Maybe that was just a Covid thing? Not much on the menu for my vegetarian DIL, but almost every place has something to accommodate them. Usually a bowl of pasta that costs about a dollar to make. Chandler Jones would be great as a player and a mentor……IF the deal is right. He’s no spring chicken. I hope he comes at a reasonable price for a chance to get a ring. I’m doing my part so we can maybe eventually rival the Mario Williams thread! 😋 .
