We moved to Sarasota in 1993. My parents came to visit a few months later. We went out to dinner Saturday night, and they ran into people they knew from Buffalo. We went to church Sunday morning, and they ran into people they used to work with. I took my dad to the Cabana Inn (a dump along the Trail for those familiar that was then the go-to Bills joint prior to Sunday Ticket at home or nicer Bills bars) for the Bills game. It was mostly big projection TV’s so the windows are all blocked out to see the screen (and NOT see how disgusting the place was/is). My dad gets up to go to the rest room and literally bumps into a guy he went to high school with 50 years earlier, and they had not seen each other since. How they recognized each other, I have NO idea after 50 year! They were there 72 hours and knew more people than we did after months of living and working there. After growing up in Buffalo (which I LOVED!) you deserve something nice! My dream is to get back to Sarasota one day, at least part-time. Maybe a summer place somewhere cooler, like the mountains……..or Buffalo? .

But we will be safe in our cubicles while he runs the risk of limping off the edge of the earth! Who’s a dummy now, Sammy? Wait! I thought they were being no nice!!!

Bills have almost $10 million in cap space available
Augie replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall
As I’ve been saying, I fully expect a vet CB before the draft. Beane likes to go into he draft without any real holes in the roster. Nobody too expensive, but fairly serviceable. I don’t have any idea who that might be, but it’s how he goes into the draft. That will get you a beer in the new stadium. . -
Are boneless wings with ranch the best game day dish?
Augie replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in Off the Wall
I took beef on weck and grilled wing in sauce to my neighbor from Kenmore on game day a few years ago. She STILL talks about the wings. -

They want you to think you’re getting chicken meat, when instead @Royale with Cheese and others try to feed you chicken parts. Well, I’m not buying it either! BTW - at lunch today a guy at the bar ordered the Buffalo Chicken Wrap…..with ranch instead of blue cheese. We had to have words. I alerted the authorities and he was taken in for 72 hours of observation. -

HEY, PEOPLE!!! It’s only 14 days until the draft! Unfortunately, this thread may survive that long, then pick back up in that long dry spell after the draft. I’m heading to lunch at a place with good wings. They have bones because…..well, they are actual CHICKEN WINGS! Unfortunately, their blue cheese is so weak and runny I’ll be getting a Cobb salad instead. I would never dream to ask for ranch, unless the dream was a nightmare! -
And…….as the face of the franchise, I’d rather have the guy you’d want your daughter to marry. On the surface, that is no contest. Superficial, I know, but it is entertainment. None of us know what’s beneath the surface, but I know which way I lean.

5th year option, what positions constitute it the most?
Augie replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall
You be you…. We KNEW what the deal was with Josh. It would be a long term deal, not a way to buy time until we decided if he could be the guy. I was speaking to the essence of the question, while it could be taken more literally. I get that. Do you get what I’m saying? We KNEW, the Browns did not. -

Did he play under it, or was it a placeholder? -

If you know you nailed it with a QB, they probably never get the 5th year. They get a new deal. See Mayfield, Baker. Same with most positions, but especially QB. Nail it down before the price goes up!!! -

Probably the best actual wing/sauce around here is served with tiny chips of flavorless blue cheese (?) in a watery runny sauce. The owner is from Buffalo I’m told, but I’ve never met him. I won’t punch him in the face or anything, I just want to tell him I no longer get wings there because it’s the worst excuse for blue cheese I’ve ever experienced. AND IT IS STILL BETTER THAN RANCH! Take that! @Royale with Cheese -

I swear I have seen menus that say “Market Price” for chicken wings! Like it’s lobster or caviar or something. It used to be just you got a side of to go with you pizza. Or 25 cents wings at happy hour. What is this world coming to? I blame the Federal Reserve for The Great Chicken Wing Crisis! -

Ranch is more like ruining a beer by putting a cigarette butt in it! -

Ranch actually IS good with home made chips. Save it for the chips! Oh, the humanity! 😱 -

I’ve never reported anyone! How does that work???!!! . -
I’ve never even BEEN to Austin, so don’t listen to me, but I always thought it would be like Atlanta which is a college football town with an NFL afterthought. That could be completely incorrect. You see UGA, Georgia Tech, Bama, Auburn, FSU, etc gear everywhere in Atlanta. And there is an occasional sighting of a Falcons hat or shirt.

Admittedly, I clicked the link, saw the product and turned around (because I have the attention span of a gnat at times). I don’t understand people or companies who live on the edge like that. I just couldn’t sleep at night. When I was young and even more stupid, I’d see lovely homes and fancy cars and be jealous of those people. I quickly learned they were often living paycheck to paycheck and 30 days behind on the AMEX card and 60 days late on the BMW loan. The lady of my favorite house came into the bank sobbing and begging for another 30 days to bring the mortgage current. No thanks. Hats off to people who do the right things, and for the right reasons.

Just playing devil’s advocate, but one COULD argue that their margins might shrink but they could actually come out ahead on increased volume due to the positive publicity. I mean, I would never be that cynical (as far as you know), but……. 🤷♂️ We’ll never know who did what (and why) behind the scenes, but sometimes what looks like a gallant act is just another way to make more money. And now I will remove my cynic’s tin foil hat and eyeglasses and hope this was exactly what it looked like. We all know there are plenty of companies gouging out there, especially the oil companies who are so lightning quick to raise prices, and so excruciatingly slow to lower them.

I graduated from college and started a career in banking in the early 80’s. I knew it was crazy times, but I didn’t realize how historically significant it was. A bank might give you 15-18% on a CD, but also wanted over 20% on a fixed rate mortgage. (My FIL loaded up on the longest term CD’s he could find.) NOBODY could buy much of anything unless you had cash. Real estate prices were naturally down with those rates, so cash was indeed King! Rates have been ridiculously low for a looong time, well before Covid. They were starting to rise some but then Covid arrived and dropped back to almost free money. We have a mortgage below 3% fixed for 15 years (on a 30 year amortization). Everybody can buy more at those rates! Lots of demand, almost zero supply. I recently looked at my last two neighborhoods in Florida. Combined there are well over 1,000 houses, and only ONE house was listed for sale. You can ask anything you want! Rates are going up. They have started, and they are certainly not done. Our first house we had a 30 year fixed at 8% and thought that was pretty good in 1986, after the spike. It will be a tricky balancing act. Add those prolonged low rates and the mountains of stimulus money they printed, and inflation was inevitable. For some perspective, check out the chart on the link below: https://www.macrotrends.net/2015/fed-funds-rate-historical-chart .

We have a LOT of good players who want to be PAID. We need all these high picks, and we need to I hit on them to lower our labor costs. One great prospect sounds awesome, but is it better than 3-4 solid starters who allow for more cap space to pay your stars? 🤷♂️

I guess this is why we play the games? I don’t know what to make of that division, especially Denver, but I’m glad the Bills don’t play in it! Let them all beat the tar out of each other, and let the playoffs run thru Buffalo!

I think Josh knows he could have held on trying to get more, but he also knows he’s got generational money coming in regardless. Josh is far more likely to restructure to allow for a better team around him and more wins than he is to ask for more. Just how I see him. He’s got plenty and I don’t think it will ever be an ego thing like a certain QB in Green Bay.
