  1. Notice that he had to go back a few years to find one guy who stood out for his pure speed. Generational speed. The league is not littered with RB’s with THAT kind of speed! If people are still talking about Chris Johnson, it’s because he was THAT rare! Nobody is claiming Cook is that kind of player. But he has enough speed to help our team, and that’s what I care about. You can look at a 1.40 10 yard split vs a 1.52, and they are both pretty fast. I’ll take the guy who’s a football player. If this were a track team, I’d reconsider, but we play in the NFL.
  2. I played rugby in college. My prior football experience tells me it was time to wrap up and wait for help against that monster! Grab an ankle and act like an anchor to maybe slow him down a little! I guess being dragged 20 yards for the score sliding on my belly wouldn’t be much more attractive…….
  3. It’s something that highlight reels rarely focus on, but blitz recognition and pickup will likely determine how quickly he works into the rotation and how many snaps he gets. Keep Josh upright and healthy! Job #1!
  4. There shall be NO being happy! We are all to be outraged and 100% confident that we know better than Beane about everything! That’s how we roll around here! ….well, at least some of us. EDIT: Cook may or may not have the extra gear to run away from EVERYONE, but he’s going to look like a bolt of lightning compared to Singletary and his 4.66 second 40. I may not be able to tell between a 4.39 guy and a 4.42 guy, but I think the difference between a 4.42 and a 4.66 will be clearly visible. We wanted more speed, and we got more speed. I’m excited to see it all on the field! .
  5. I have a college buddy who goes to A LOT of concerts. I know when he’s been to one because I start getting this avalanche of videos (that I basically ignore). A few months ago I get a late night text from him after we had seen Eric Clapton. He sent me a video from almost EXACTLY where we were sitting. I was on the aisle, and he was walking around getting different angles. When I told him we were there and he was right next to me he was stunned. I told him “while you were walking around recording Eric Clapton, I was actually watching and listening to Eric Clapton.” He would have seen me if he hadn’t been watching thru his phone. We saw Van Morrison Sunday, BTW. Good show, but it was like he was going out of his way NOT to play his most popular music. He’s old and feeble, but still enjoyed it. I heard a few years back he played the same venue and would not allow alcohol sales on-site because he’s had a problem with alcohol. (That would put a serious dent in revenue with bottles of ok wine selling for $50-75.) Without the alcohol I might have missed his hits a little more.
  6. Everybody knew we wanted a CB, and there was apparently only one top tier CB left. I have no problem with the trade up given the situation. Might it have been unnecessary? Sure. Did we get the guy they wanted? Absolutely!
  7. I’m also predominantly a football fan. I even lost track of the Sabres when I left WNY for college in 1977. The Sabres would be cool, the Bills wining it all would be AWESOME!!! I don’t see Buffalo getting a MLB or NBA team, so I can’t waste too much mental energy on this. BUT, I can tell you I live 8 minutes from the Braves stadium and we go a couple times a year, just for the crowds, the hot dogs and drinks. The crack of the bat is background noise. As my wise young child once said, “half the guys are standing around, and the other half are sitting!” Not my idea of entertainment. We are now in the NBA playoff season. I was super into the Braves and the family had season tickets. They moved, the game changed, and they lost me. I have watched less and less NBA ever since. I might watch a game or two if the Finals get interesting. We spent over $600 taking the kids to a game in Charlotte a few years ago, the last time I paid money to attend an NBA game. About 5 minutes in, our youngest turns and says “they’re not even trying!” Yep, NBA with the season far too long to try on a Tuesday night in Charlotte. I enjoy college hoops where they actually try. If the NBA went away I wouldn’t miss it. Give me football all day, every day over the other options. I’m all in on a Bills Super Bowl victory. If someone else won, I’d be happy for the local folks who actually cared.
  8. And……..he will probably sue because they were hard on him. Well, dude, you brought that on yourself!
  9. Well, that was painful. I’m guessing he would have rather been anywhere else!
  10. With the wind in WNY at some of our games, it feels like a mini-miracle if they can even make contact with the ball to punt it. The drop from hand to foot is not very far, unless you are doing it with 35 mph gusts. That will take some getting used to! .
  11. It’s funny when you read the scouting reports and they repeat the same theme. Yeah, maybe he gave up a long TD to some current NFL player in 2001. WOW, if that’s be best you have, he’s probably pretty good!
  12. I’ll be happy to post one if it might create some controversy and help get this thread about the 6th round punter past 100 pages! How long was the Mario Williams thread? We should just shoot for the record!
  13. There is literally no better place for him to be and get coached up, IMO. I can’t wait to see what they can bring out of him given his physical traits and attitude.
  14. I think my wife considers me to be her spouse on an extended trial basis. So far, so good! But there’s always tomorrow….. We actually got married sooner than would have been my style. I am one to ponder a decision (over and over and….) to be sure I get it right. The wife makes a decision, acts, and fixes what she got wrong before I’ve formed an opinion as to how to begin. From first meeting to wedding day was about 14 months, but most of that was wedding planning. My wife’s dad had cancer and she wanted him to be able to walk her (the oldest and first married) down the aisle while he still was able. Turns out he rebounded and lasted another 8+ years, and she’s still stuck with me! I’m the luckiest person I know! My own mother would probably tell you I don’t deserve my wife.
  15. Did you want to be a thumper when you grow up? 😋
  16. Going to see Van Morrison tonight. He’s right up there on my wish list with Eric Clapton who we saw a few months ago.
  17. Congrats on the anniversary! That 34 years is impressive! We hit 37 years back in February. Of course, we were mere children when we we married.
  18. THANY YOU for the CliffsNote version!
  19. Will that never die? I was young, startled and in a hurry! The lampshade? Well, it was a wild night!
  20. I’m on the Board for a foundation trying to serve the needs of Little Pink Ponies. I might be able to help you there. I’m not sure what to tell you about OG. Maybe Kromer has a miracle left to share?
  21. Remember that guy? Williams something, I think. Might have started with an “M”? But THIS guy can PUNT! EDIT: Punting = not something we do often, but very important to do it faster than I can go up and get a beer!!! 😋
  22. Well, I know which one of you I HOPE is right! 😋
  23. Somewhat strangely, LB’s and DB’s seem to be going the way of college basketball. Most of the top college hoops recruits are 6’5”-6’8” and are “position-less”. Everybody can switch and cover anybody. Sure, it’s not entirely like that, but to a large extent we are blending size and speed so you can do a little bit of everything. Long gone are the days of the big, slow, thumping MLB and the other guys who are restricted to certain limited roles. LB’s need to cover TE’s and RB’s and CB’s need to tackle. Safeties need to come down into the box and plug the running game. The new NFL requires new kinds of players. I trust our FO and like our draft!
  24. Are you surprised Belichick didn’t beat us to him in the 4th when we didn’t have a pick?
