  1. Too much extremism can be a bad thing. I’m sure of that.
  2. I think I remember seeing you there!!! You were short? With hair? People are getting mad like somebody stole something from them. I want to address our obvious shortcomings, improve, and advance further in the playoffs. But I also appreciate a team that can be expected to win 12 or more games on a regular basis.
  3. Well, that was a lovely diversion. I didn’t really expect…….oh, never mind. Maybe @mead107 would like to inspect the Doc’s handiwork?
  4. Please, tell us more about your vasectomy! 😋 I’d rather read about that than another “proposed trade” that will never happen, or who we should have drafted two years ago in the third round now that some poster got to see “the other guy” make a riveting Pro Bowl appearance. Oh, and don’t get me started on the “fire everybody” crowd. Good luck with the cough. Try turning your head, it may help. Doctors seem to think so.
  5. There are many, many different possible sources of revenue, of which real estate taxes is just one. We lived in Florida for many years where the design was to tax tourists and part time residents as much as possible to relieve the burden on full time residents. They do that with gas taxes, sales tax, bed tax on hotels and short term rentals, etc. They also reduce the impact of real estate taxes by allowing you to homestead the residence of “full time” residents (6 months and a day minimum) so your property taxes can only go up 2-3% annually so you don’t get taxed out of your home. A little quick math tells me a moderate priced player ($3 mil/year) will pay about $180k in GA state taxes. The property taxes on a multimillion dollar house will be just a very small fraction of that.
  6. Stef was on Dan Patrick this morning. He says he will never apologize for being passionate. I can live with that. The man wants to win, just go about it the right way. Oh, and who cares what some goof has out there on Twitter. He’s not an owner or GM….so whatever…..
  7. I’m sorry, I left you out of the go fund me part of this. We won’t make that mistake again! With @HOUSE it’s all an act. He’s really a very wealthy Nigerian Prince.
  8. I’ve never met her, but would it be rude of me to second that comment? 😋 Congrats, @Draconator, quite the accomplishment! EDIT: Wait! Will this be followed by a go fund me thread? This is right up @Gugny’s alley! Between him and @HOUSE you should have it all covered. Wishing her all the best!
  9. Maybe this should be in the Hall thread, as well? Things can seem odd when we don’t have enough info. This may be one of those cases? Maybe they were not pleased with how he brought along the younger guys, before they brought back the old guys. I’m not saying that is the case, but it’s a plausible explanation. Maybe the writing was on the wall already, and we just didn’t see it. .
  10. Also to be fair, they did try to keep him I believe, but were devastated by DB injuries and ran out of call-ups for Hodgins. I could be wrong there, but it seems they did not WANT to expose him to waivers, they were just left with few other options. Life in the NFL, especially with teams with above average talent. BUT, to the thread title, I’m happy for both of them. We knew we’d miss Daboll, but it seems a bit more difficult than many expected. Very happy for Hodgins to get a shot as well. .
  11. What we do NOT know is how many they wanted back. The ST coach was allowed to find his own gig (again in Jax) without the mess of firing him. I thought that was a classy way to handle that. I suspect Hall may be a great guy and well liked in the WR room, but as has been pointed out, he wasn’t doing much with what he had to work with. (I know, we need to add more talent regardless of who the coach is.) He could have been a great guy who we wanted to move on from for an upgrade. We have no way of knowing, and I won’t pretend to know. I think we should be hoping they go the weak replacement option. That will just make things more entertaining around here. 😋 .
  12. Well, especially that one. That stuff just goes on my “manual ignore” list, for the most part. I’ve asked, but not gotten any answer, regarding the team he actually roots for. Best to just keep moving rather than feed him, I think.
  13. Do you realize that just makes you look silly. It depends on whose math you decide to listen to. I say I can’t possibly know for sure, but somehow you can.
  14. And here I was trying to come up with an environmentally friendly way to get rid of the stench! No complaints, the better you do, the better I do!
  15. I agree the playing field should be leveled somehow. I have no suggestions on the best way to accomplish this, other than eliminating state taxes from the cap accounting. I think they have to pay taxes in the states where they play/earn paychecks, but half your games are at home so that matters more than road games. When we moved from tax free FL (state taxes only of course) to GA my wife got a 6% raise to account for state taxes. Surely the NFL can come up with a way to level the competitive disadvantage. It can be done.
  16. You sound a little like we already know all there is to be known. I happen to think we barely know more than we did a thousand years ago. What more could we learn in 10,000 years, or a million. We think we understand the laws of physics, but I think we’ve just scratched the surface, and much of what we “know” is subject to question. Remember when the sun and everything else revolved around earth? That was not that long ago. I’m not saying I know what is out there, because I have no way of knowing. Just like you cannot possibly know what is NOT out there. Don’t give me your “math nonsense”, because it is just that: nonsense. I’ve seen other people’s math that says the universe it loaded with life. I can’t say what is true and accurate. Nobody on this planet today can “know”.
  17. My wife was on the Board at St Jude for years. She was on the ALSAC (fundraising) side. The hospital has its own independent board. You will be hard pressed to find a better charity to give to. Nothing is perfect, but between the cause and the efficient structure, I feel this is a no brainer and I never even question how much my wife gives every year.
  18. I was in real estate here in Atlanta for a few years. The nicest (and most expensive) house I was in was listed for $25 Million. It sold for $17.5 Mil…..to a TV televangelist. That made me feel ill.
  19. Because we don’t see very well?
  20. People say SB or bust, but I plan on enjoying the ride. I certainly hope and pray for a SB victory, but it’s entertainment, not life and death. I enjoyed each of our 14 wins last year. Sorry if that isn’t “serious” enough for some, but perspective is important in the big picture.
  21. I’m torn. I like hearing good things about our Bills, but I was not enjoying all the hyper-hype we were getting early last season. It was just setting up some of our local Boo-Birds for the annual meltdown, but to a greater degree. I’ll take a little more “under-the-radar” action next year, with a deeper run in the playoffs.
  22. OK, another* real QB, as in he’s not going to the Jests or the Dolphins.
  23. I just heard Josh Jacobs interviewed at the SB. Asked which locations he might enjoy outside of Vegas, he listed all the tax free states and was openly all about the money. That is a very real consideration. Plus, the Jags have a real QB which helps make a WR coach look better. EDIT: It may be a “mutual decision” to move on, just like the ST coach who moved to Jax, but the tax thing is real, especially for players who have a limited number of years. .
  24. We knew we could count on you!!! 😋 Seriously, who are you really a fan of? We are curious. PSA - Stef Diggs on Dan Patrick right now. He thinks we can win it.
  25. Well, this should end well.
