  1. I have a buddy who is seriously into his music. He’s got a music studio in his basement with mixing gear, a couple dozen guitars, a grand piano, etc. A couple decades ago my wife became friends with the lead singer for a big time band (I saw not one but TWO of the shirts at the grocery store today). We got into trading dinner parties at each other’s houses since it’s very difficult for them to go out in public. They would invite all these musicians and I had no idea who they were. It was very cool, and often some live music would break out, which was AWESOME! My buddy BEGGED me to get invited into this circle. This is decades ago and just recently he shared the names of some people who would attend these dinners with another music buff. I suppose he got them right, but it meant nothing to me. When he brought it up 20 years later I told him “and THAT is why you could never come!” We were mostly accepted because we didn’t go all crazy over them.
  2. He’s not helping to make his point there, is he? In fact, it seems quite the opposite.
  3. I was at the game IN NASHVILLE last year where Josh slipped at the goal line or we probably win that game. It “proves” nothing. That could have gone either way. Are the Jags a better roster, too, because we lost down there? The Rams are indeed loaded, and they won’t face the gauntlet that is the AFC. Tell yourself what you’d like, the Bills have one of the top rosters in the NFL and to argue otherwise is either delusional or disingenuous. Have a nice night.
  4. I have a sister-in-law who also confuses her opinions with reality. It’s annoying. PROVE to me that Beane would not try to get a Franchise QB if Josh didn’t pan out. PROVE to me that would have been impossible. The Cards took the wrong guy, then fixed it. Could we have landed on Herbert? You can’t prove what might have happened in another reality. I know you just want to make a point, but we just won’t see eye to eye on this because your mind appears set.
  5. 1) You can’t take away Allen without taking away every other teams QB. 2) You can’t do that either, because WE DO HAVE ALLEN! We have no idea what might have been. If Allen was a bust, maybe we have Herbert. Let’s just stick to reality, it makes things so much more simple!
  6. Staying with the big picture, how may rosters in the NFL, top to bottom, would you trade the Bills roster for? That should not be a big number, if any. Vegas seems to agree as we are again considered a top Super Bowl contender. That tells me what I need to know about Beane and the job he’s done.
  7. Apparently, they weren’t imagining that Beane picked Rosen. Tell them to get with the imaginary program!!!
  8. Careful, this guy may have a truck? .
  9. Yeah, but with all the drinking and carrying on, how am I supposed to remember little details like that??? That was a bit different in that there wasn’t a regular tailgate. I went into town, cruised the LOUD honky tonks along Broadway, quickly got tired of the insane noise level and went back to the hotel to have a relatively quiet pre-game with Bills fans at the bar. OK, I’ll try again. I haven’t been to a Bills HOME Monday night game since I was a teenager. Unless I was. 🤷‍♂️
  10. This message sent to you by the Department of Redundancy Department.
  11. It’s deja vu………… all over again!
  12. I bet he’s claiming auto-correct. But sure, let’s just go along with it……
  13. Strangely, I was much happier “having to do something” I enjoyed more than not having to do anything at all. Total freedom is nice, but as a self employed individual I had enough control to suit me. Being good at what you do is rewarding all by itself. And if you love it? WINNER!!!
  14. It’s funny how easy it is to put off things I know I should do. In college I could easily have gone to the Kentucky Derby or the Indy 500. I was always too lazy or had “something better” to do, though I have no idea what I did instead. I have little to no interest in horses or car races, but I should have made time for those events, at least once. I’m trying to do better with making myself do the things that seem easy to skip. Good luck with getting to attend Wimbledon one day. Better yet, I’d love to meet you there! We all need to do our best to check off those important boxes before it’s too late. Make those memories! .
  15. His family makes cartoon balloons in town….must be a good business.
  16. I haven’t been to a Monday Night game since I was in high school. (That was a while ago.) What time do tailgating festivities generally start?
  17. Dave had the best two, I’m sure.
  18. So did my wife’s Covid test. Garbage = Garbage.
  19. She’s one of the top two US women players in the world. Top 10 overall in the world. It’s awesome and amazing! Personally, I’d consider just attending Wimbledon a huge accomplishment! Jessica has taken this to a new level!
  20. See, you miss the point once again. AMAZING! We don’t know enough to know what we should believe.
  21. I might wait until an hour before kickoff, then send the StayPuft Marshmallow Man to take them all out!
  22. Did you hear about the guy in NC who won the lottery…..twice? I had a tennis buddy in Florida who would walk of the court immediately as the lightning alarm went off, meaning strikes within 5 miles. He wasn’t messing around, he’s been hit before…….twice. When we lived in Hilton Head, SC we invited the wife’s cousin to come watch the PGA tournament outside our back door. Good old Tommy went out to watch and got hit by a golf ball…….twice! (Albeit one was a short hop of the cart path, the other a drive.) I could go on and on (some of it improper for this family site, but that one night at the bar made a legend of my buddy Dave), but unlikely things happen all the time! Multiply that by nearly Infiniti…… I don’t know what IS, and I can’t say what ISN’T. I did all that without any math.
  23. I thought I saw an interview with her saying the grass should work to her advantage because she hits a such a flat ball making it tough on her opponents. It’s the opposite of clay (think Nadal with his ridiculous topspin). I couldn’t find that interview, but came across this. She says she’s more comfortable on grass now as she’s become more open to working on her slice and getting to the net. I include this link to show what she says about her game, but probably more so to show how incredibly likable she is. https://www.tennis.com/news/videos/interview-j-pegula-wimbledon-2r-win It’s a shame she lost with a good looking draw in front of her, but she does say the grass can lead to some crazy outcomes. Bummer. At least she’s a regular at majors and always a threat to go deep. She’s come a long way! .
  24. The bold is the key. The first half of my working life I worked in a regular office/banking environment. It was fine….but it was “just a job”. The second half I followed a passion and was self-employed. I felt like the luckiest guy in the world and I loved almost every day (hey, nothing is perfect!). Life and 2008 happened, and we ended up moving to Atlanta for my wife’s work leaving my old life behind. I tried some things here, but nothing I loved and I retired in my mid-50’s. The people who had “just a job” like I had early would be jealous. The people who LOVE what they do would understand the sense of loss. It wasn’t until my wife started working at home due to Covid that I realized how much she LOVES what she does. I hear her all day long, and I’m happy for her. All this time I thought she was “working” and sacrificing for the family, but it truly makes her happy. Her job that she loves pays far, FAR more than my job that I loved. Case closed. I’m stuck in Atlanta for now, but one day when our son and grandkids move away, we’ll be able to follow them and nobody will be able to tell us we can’t. The wife is in wealth management. There are numerous studies and real life cases where people sell their business for huge sums, like $100 million or more. They think they “won” and hit the big time. It doesn’t take long before many of them wake up wondering why they sold their baby. What is the reason for getting up every day? You can only golf or travel so much. One guy went back out, bought an undervalued company and did it again……he sold a second business making another $100 million. Best of both worlds! Obviously long-winded here because it strikes a nerve. Maybe it’s not strictly unpopular, but I’d rather be happy than rich.
