  1. I am fortunate that as the youngest my parents followed us (actually our kids). My sisters come to see my parents several times a year so I felt no need to visit them…..until the Bills played the Packers near my sister in Wisconsin. She had lived there 23 years and I had never visited, but it was a great trip! If/When our son eventually moves back to Florida to be closer to his wife’s family we will follow. That’s years from now, and the wife will be sure we have a summer place to escape the looooong hot summers.
  2. You are not alone. We moved to Sarasota, Florida in 1993. My parents came to visit one weekend and it was eye opening. We went out to dinner on Saturday and they ran into people they knew from WNY. We went to church Sunday morning, and they ran into more people they knew. We went out to see a Bills game Sunday and my father ran into a guy he went to high school with. They hadn’t seen each other in about 50 years so I don’t even know how they recognized each other! It seems half the people who fled WNY landed in Florida. My wife works with someone who lives in L.A. The co-worker is originally from WNY. How she got to LA came up and she volunteered that she is there for the weather. She puts up with the taxes and the traffic so she can have the weather she craves. My kids say growing up in Buffalo scarred me. That connotation may be a little harsh, but there is a LOT of truth to it. My happiness is largely weather dependent. I’d rather have two modest homes with good weather options than one more grand home where I had to suffer bad seasonal weather.
  3. If not, he’s being well compensated for getting the tar beaten out of him!
  4. You can vote with your feet, and I’ll vote with mine. Not many places in FL that I know and really like, but I love Sarasota. (The Naples, Venice and St Augustine areas also intrigue me.) It’s “home” to me where we raised our kids and most of our friends are there. It gets long summers, much like Buffalo’s winters. It’s rarely severe enough to bother me, but it can last FAR too long. I have Blowing Rock weather on my phone app which I check almost daily. My “happy window” in BR weather is relatively brief. The summer, a little fall and maybe one week of what they call winter. I need 6 months and a day to avoid state taxes and homestead my FL place, so that slant works for me. I don’t recall restrictions, just the where and the why. What would you enjoy, and why?
  5. Sarasota, FL where we lived for 18 years. Love downtown and the different walkable areas with sidewalk cafes, great water views and fantastic restaurants! Hot summers, but not hotter than Atlanta, just longer. It’s CRAZY expensive right now (like most places) but I see that correcting a bit. We were in Blowing Rock, NC all of last week, and that would be our summer escape from the heat, I think. It’s optimistic, but also realistic. Blowing Rock is cute touristy, while Boone a few minutes north is a college town (Appalachian State) with the vibe that offers. My wife LOVES the mountains and plans to do a month there next summer. I could do the ENTIRE summer, so maybe one day. .
  6. He knew if you had to actually PAY for your breakfast….well…..you know how elusive that wallet is.
  7. If you think getting sprayed by some whacko after you were engaged for a massage is OK, we will just have to agree to disagree.
  8. Yep. I won’t rehash the details, but I am a firm believer that some of that behavior was in fact sexual assault. Being able to prove it in court is another issue, but the fact that dozens of women have come forward is indeed curious. Look at the big picture, and this clearly seems to be a pattern he enjoyed in some perverse way. He needs to be punished for how this has reflected on the NFL. I’m not going to continue arguing this. I’ll sleep fine tonight. Many were not even licensed masseuses, it wasn’t about the “massage” for him. It was about what got him off. .
  9. The grand jury deals with criminal charges based upon what was presented to them. It’s very different from civil charges. The NFL is concerned with the image of the league. Do you think this has been good for the league? I don’t have a guess how this turns out, but it has definitely blemished the shield. I’ll wait and see, but if he were the Bills QB I’d take a step back until something changed. I feel bad for Browns fans as I kind of relate to them. It’s hard to get behind the Browns FO with this hanging over them. A serial sexual predator as your QB is hardly a selling point for 1/32 of your league and tarnishes the entire league to some degree. There is no question, this reflects poorly on the NFL. There are rules against that. Sadly, it’s more complicated because the owners have not been held to the same standard (by themselves, basically) often enough. .
  10. And here might be your answer.
  11. Ride? I need a flight from Atlanta. I can get my own breakfast, but I prefer a private flight. Kind of @Doc to make them available. I hope they find some worthy and grateful recipients.
  12. You should have stuck to the highlights like Applebee’s or Dave & Busters!
  13. Some people are just natural winners. What an amazing life. RIP.
  14. I known a couple guys who drive for Uber/Lyft just for something to do. It’s a chance to get out and talk with people while seeing new places. It’s almost like being a mobile bartender chatting with people who have often had a few pops. A little extra money isn’t a bad thing, either. I actually think I might enjoy it, as I think it’s great on the user end. When I get back to Cincinnati (my college town) an old buddy who drives for Lyft can’t wait to pick me up and take me to cool new places where his riders have been. It’s educational! .
  15. ….and…..well……they have these tiny little necks….. …
  16. He never wore a bra, I’ll give him that. I swear I changed that to “barmaid” for that EXACT reason! Oops! I’m glad you guys never disappoint!
  17. I have never in my life run up that kind of bar tab, but I did date the barmaid in college. My glass was never empty. 🍺
  18. I mostly agree, but I’m not sure what the ratio would look like, or how different it will be. I added the one bolded word nobody can argue with. We need to be able to run effectively to close games out. It’s pretty cool that we can expect to be ahead late in a lot of games!
  19. HEY! He signed my shirt! Did you see that? Leave him alone!
  20. Weren’t there rumors that Wayne Huizenga (owner of Blockbuster Video, Waste Management, etc) got Dan Marino in on some IPO’s and other stuff as a way of raising his compensation? I have no idea if that was true, but I’m pretty sure I heard it. In the current cap environment I’m sure the league would find a way to crush that today.
  21. If he was the Super Bowl MVP and Al Davis were still alive, he’d be offered enough to take the sting out of not winning the Mega-Millions. I’d be all for it once he’s healthy and if we can make cap space. I think he came out looking like the grown up from the Cleveland situation. .
  22. It’s like sacks or home runs, it’s what gets you the big bucks because people focus on and measure it, but it doesn’t mean you’re a well rounded player. Sometimes you need to just “do your job” to win the game.
  23. Those ears get me every time! A head like that cannot be contained in a helmet, I’m afraid.
  24. Well, now they can get out of Illinois? Or buy about half of it? 🤷‍♂️
  25. After closing the bar in college about 2:30am we went to all all-night diner. We are in the condition you might expect. When it’s time to pay, of the 4 others guys only one paid. Three out of five do NOT pay the check. We are backing the car out of the spot when the waitress comes out and blocks the exit. The ONLY exit. It turns out the other guy who paid got nervous and paid way too much. She came out to give it back. And then some drunk guy drove me home. Ahh, the “good ol’ days”! There’s a thread for you! 😂
