Training Camp practice 8/11 - last one at Fisher
Augie replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
This sounds like training camp time for tailgating! Tables everywhere are getting nervous!!! -
It was a tough choice but AB announces his biggest regret…

Yeah, but other than that……. -
Tom Brady Away From Bucs to "Deal With Some Personal Things"

At least it didn’t come at halftime! -
I think the word “healed” would have to be defined. It’s a matter of degrees when it comes to strengthening the ACL and surrounding muscle groups, I suppose. Our son tore his ACL and MCL in HS football. I was shocked by the atrophy and how quickly his leg visibly shrank. Having said that, we took him out of state for surgery with a sports specialist and his physical therapist moved on to do research at UVA after his rehab. These guys really knew what they are doing, like the Bills people. He had surgery on June 24 and played in a Thanksgiving basketball tournament. No, he was definitely not 100% himself, but that’s only 5 months and I find that shocking! Of course, the NFL is not high school basketball, but I’m still amazed. I remember when a torn ACL meant you might be done forever. It’s still bad, but how far they have come in recent decades is miraculous. The physical part is obviously serious so you avoid setbacks, but learning to really trust that knee again is a battle in itself.

Tom Brady Away From Bucs to "Deal With Some Personal Things"

This is what I had heard, but just as speculation. Even Tom Brady gets my best wishes for his family if this is the case. I feel dirty……. -
He juuuuust a bit sleepy. Odd hours, you know.

There’s a pizza joint on a cute little square near us I like to hit for lunch. In nice weather I like to eat on the sidewalk of the corner location. The north/south street doesn’t line up quite right. When you cross the east/west street you have to jog over about 15 feet. They have dotted lane lines for the two lanes going north/south, but people tend to ignore them. There’s almost a 50% chance that I’ll hear at least one horn honk during my time there, and I’ve seen/heard at least a couple accidents. It is inherently dangerous, but I don’t know what more they could do. People need to pay attention! The good news is you are going slow and it’s just fender benders. Nobody is going to stand a car on end at this sleepy little intersection……unless you are a complete idiot…..like this kid.

Maybe next time. Take good care of yourself, it may be a while!

My early years were in Hamburg. It’s really cute now, as witnessed on a trip back for an opener a few years ago. I have fond childhood memories of East Aurora as well. I hope I’m wrong, as I’d love to have some cool stuff around the stadium, especially a game day hotel. I just don’t know if it can support enough stuff to make it a magnet on non-game days. I live in Atlanta about 3 miles from where the Braves play at The Battery. Lots of shops, restaurants, bars and entertainment. It does well, and I love it on non-game days. The difference is there are literally millions of people within an easy drive. Having 100k +/- people nearby is small potatoes, especially when their needs are already met with things more convenient. Now, you don’t need all THAT (The Battery), but I think most of the places you mentioned have enough in their immediate areas that they don’t need to drive out into a “giant empty field” that is the area surrounding the stadium. You need enough to be a draw, but not so much that you can’t possibly support it. As others have said, If they’ve had since pre-1973 to develop the area, and it hasn’t been done, there might be a reason. Again, I will say as long as they remain in WNY I’m happy, and if stuff develops around the stadium, all the better.

Reminds me of PPV for Mike Tyson fights. I was glad the guy next door was willing to pay for it!

OK, OP around the stadium is a wasteland. The word “most” is there for a reason, and it may be a bit of hyperbole, but anywhere near the stadium it fits. We just said the same thing. There is ZERO similarity between OP near the stadium and the Lambeau area which is surrounded by dense residential housing. .

Isn’t that what he did after he went bowling for Canadians? Good thing those curbs were there to stop him! It’s like putting the bumpers down when you go bowling with kids, or drain the bar.

I suggest we find out! A life size Josh statue would be pretty huge.

A) I like our top paid players being QB, CB1, Edge, WR and LT. The Pats* are a couple TE’s and a LB. I like our plan better. B) You don’t even have to mention the Browns by name. The 💩 says it all!

He might get a nice Pay Per View check if they put him in a cage match with Dareus fighting over a single donut! The human body is just not meant to be that heavy. To expect him to still be athletic enough to play in the NFL is a tough ask. I was skeptical the first time I saw him, and I hope I’m wrong but….I’m afraid he may be done if he can’t find the discipline to keep his weight in check. Even if he can, he’s still a very big boy on compromised knees. I’ll root for the person and hope he finds a way.

Too many Skittles and all reason is lost! I’m just glad nobody got hurt, and I’ll hope he learns from it…..this time. History says that is unlikely.

We went to some nice places on the water, but what stood out most to me, as I walked around town in my Bills gear, was all the people saying “welcome to Wisconsin!” in their funny little accents. I got that all over town!

Was this your most recent gig in Williamsville?

My sister lives in Appleton (nice town!) and we attended the Bills game in Green Bay a few years ago. I must say, I didn’t really see Titletown and I wish I’d made a point of doing that. Having said that, the thing that stands out to many people is that Lambeau is an NFL stadium sitting right in the middle of a normal, middle class residential neighborhood. All those houses contain potential customers/users of the shops. Highmark stadium sits in the middle of the vast wasteland that is most of Orchard Park. There are very few people living near the stadium. I’d love a hotel and some more shops/restaurants/bars within an easy walk of the stadium, but I don’t see that happening. Maybe a new stadium will cause that to happen, but I doubt it. It’s too remote to draw much attention other than on game days, when they are probably too busy to be of much use while being overwhelmed 8-10 days a year. What might be possible is some kind of shuttle/light rail from downtown. I’m NOT an expert on WNY or the obstacles related to connecting downtown to the stadium, but it would be more practical than building out around the stadium, it seems.

But it will be in your dreams!

I take Venmo. @plenzmd1 made me! .

This, from the guy who was “a problem” in his last location. He and Josh are a team for the ages!
