  1. I took it as snark, as I thought what I posted was abundantly clear. Apparently not clear enough, so I edited the post. There is nothing “average” about winning a couple dozen or so matches in Major tournaments in a single year. More than every other woman player not named Swiatec, I believe. Unfortunately, to be THE best, you have to beat the best and she hasn’t cleared that hurdle yet. That does NOT make you average. This sounds like the fools who said she was a little rich kid playing a country club game. I find that take to be both ignorant and offensive. .
  2. Thank you for adding your own special twist. So you can only be above average if you win a Major? Good to know. I thought I stated a relevant stat. It was either misunderstood, or you used the Congrats to Jessica thread for another purpose. She has done very well in Majors this year against the top players, proving she is one of the best women’s tennis players in the world. Only one female player has more match victories in Majors this year. But maybe that’s not good enough for you. I’m sure she will be very upset and try harder to gain your approval. I was responding to someone who thinks that other than her forehand she is just average. That is simply not true. Somebody doesn’t know as much about tennis as they think. Yes, she can improve (like every other player) and her serve would be a good place to start, but the results don’t lie. .
  3. ……and rampant. RIP to the Queen. That was quite a run!
  4. She has the second most major victories on the women’s tour this year. Nothing average about that. It’s just hard to get past the #1 Swiatec. EDIT: Match victories in Majors, for those who do not follow tennis at all. She has had several deep runs, and that is very impressive for such an “average” player. .
  5. It’s not often we have the chance for Overreaction Fridays! It’s a long season, let’s peak at the right time. Never too high nor too low over a single outcome, that is my advice. Sometimes I struggle to heed my own advice, but I try. I’m much better than I used to be.
  6. I call TAILS! Has tails been taken yet?
  7. Umm, was there an umbrella full of crap or something? OK, you might be right.
  8. That reminds me of Mary Poppins for some reason…….
  9. As somebody else pointed out (I wish I could remember who to give them credit), this is an extension. It’s added to the last year of his rookie deal, and if you do the math it looks more like $11 Mil/year. I’m good with that 100%.
  10. How many people in your troop? Get old, go empty nester and things change. I cook for one and sometimes two. Which is to say, I used to love to cook, but it’s rarely worth it now.
  11. Hey, it’s tennis! On now is Jessie Pegula on ESPN. Not getting the ball as deep as Swiatek so far, but on serve in the first. Yeah, yeah, probably a Pegula thread, but I was excited and had premature positivist.
  12. Because in certain games you can take advantage of the mismatch he creates. Covering a 4th (or 5th) serious threat stretches a defense thin. I think you are confusing stats with value.
  13. I think of them as a safety net back there. They so rarely make a mistake (I know, it’s happens so you don’t need to remind me) that it gives me a level of comfort. But age is age, and dollars are dollars. They have to find a way to make it all work, even if it might be at the expense of some older guys. I’m pretty confident they can find and develop replacement DB’s if need be.
  14. Serious question in my mind: What % of users are actually paying for it? I know people who “just get it”. I don’t know whose account they are using, or how, but they watch the games free. And the follow up questions like what is the average fee paid? How does that bell curve look? It feels like haggling in a dark market trying to get a real price, and what’s your best deal. I like the world where you tell me how much it costs, and I decide whether to pay for it. I guess I’m old fashioned. Bottom line, I guess that’s exactly what I do. 🤷‍♂️
  15. How soon are you moving? We will have a previously hard to imagine number of games on National TV this year. I forget after the first two, and of course I’m too lazy to look it up, but you won’t need special access that often. Maybe just a sports bar when needed? Even Sunday games will likely be covered in most markets barring a conflict. Even my wife asked “do we really need it this year?” I think she was kidding.
  16. yep, he’s screwing up the salary cap! What was he thinking?
  17. Not to mention, one is an ascending 25 year old player, while the other is on the wrong side of 30. If you are offered either player, straight up, for the next 4-5 years, who are you taking? I knox who I want. (That was a hint.)
  18. I don’t think you, your silly facts or common sense can dissuade those who insist upon being the contrarian on nearly every topic. It seems like some kind of craving for attention.
  19. The next guy up almost always gets the biggest deal. Who would have thought we’d have $50 Mil/year QB’s 3-4 years ago? I think Gesicki is making a bit north of $10 Mil, and as you point out he can’t block. If you are paying attention you realize the numbers only go up. Beane has been signing guys before he has to, and in return for them getting paid early, we get decent value.
  20. Before this contract is up he will look cheap.
  21. I certainly don’t want to become a run first team, but I DO want an effective running game. Maybe get a safety up in the box to make the passing game easier. I want ALL our options to actually be viable. Make the defense worry about everything!
  22. It is my hope that Kromer can make Dorsey look better by coaching up the OL so we can have a respectable running game. Everything gets easier when all the options are on the table and the defense has to account for all of them.
  23. A) I watch the football games, and….. B) Points matter. A LOT! We have weapons ahead of him, but he’s going to be an important piece of the puzzle.
  24. Cleveland is busy throwing kerosene on their own dumpster fire. Hoping the rest of the league isn’t stupid enough to use them as comps, despite what the agents will attempt to do. Even Russell Wilson didn’t get fully guaranteed QB money in Denver. The Browns are the outlier, not the trend setter, I hope.
  25. And will buy a very nice house in OP, which he apparently purchased one back in December. That tells me he knew what to expect, and the FO came thru as promised. Love that!
