  1. We have watermelon all summer long, but have never frozen it. I’ll give that a try! EDIT: It’s in the freezer now! 🍉 .
  2. I generally try to do one home game (preferably the opener) and one road game each season. I love the experience in OP and I love seeing new cities and venues, but that’s about all I want to handle in person. The comfort, convenience and overall experience of viewing from home is much better than it used to be, and I’m getting too old for the hassle.
  3. On a related note, someone tried to rob one of my bank branches……from the drive-thru. It was after 4pm so the lobby was closed. He pulled up in the first lane and demanded $20k in cash. The teller stepped back, out of his view, and he eventually drove away. She told the police “I knew something was up, he was the first person all day to drive up with a towel over their head.”
  4. Nailing a stud WR (or two) in the draft is sounding better all the time.
  5. I had a buddy in college who walked from a bar to some friends to sleep it off on their couch. He stumbled into the wrong house, then peed on the couch. He woke up to a lady and her son standing over him. He was embarrassed, but not as embarrassed as she should be.
  6. I actually had to stop it, I didn’t get half way thru.
  7. I think he has the internet.
  8. I don’t see how running in the wrong direction is very helpful. Although, Jim Marshall is kinda famous. 🤷‍♂️
  9. I know, what happens in Vegas…….and I failed. My apologies. Can I tell this in a recipe thread?
  10. The Texans are helped here by the Browns being the Browns.
  11. That reminds me……First time to Vegas and we were staying at Caesars Palace. It is hot. VERY HOT out by the pool. Some scantily clad young lady comes around with a silver tray full of frozen grapes. I didn’t know there was such a thing, but that was an exceptional treat I clearly remember a quarter century later. I still do it from time to time at home. You could stick a toothpick in it to get into authentic “popsicle form.”
  12. We did 2-3 nights in Paris last spring before heading to Italy. Then I went to the Bills game in London in October. My wife has never been to London, and I’m fascinated by the Chunnel. I’d like the next trip to Europe to start with London and the relatively quick ride to Paris, I think just over 2 hours travel. One night in Paris would be a very quick trip, but it could also be very memorable. We did a sunset dinner cruise on the Seine and it was one of the highlights of our trip. IF you go, that might be fun to look into as you see a lot of highlights from the water. EDIT: There are a lot of dinner cruise options, but on the advice of a local travel expert we chose Bateaux Parisiens and it was well done. One day in Paris is better than never seeing Paris, at least the way I see it. Then you can decide what you want more or less of in the future. I assume much of the ride would be like the trains in Italy, it’s not wasted travel time, it’s a tour of the countryside. .
  13. The first arrest was for speeding in a Lamborghini, and now he’s passed out on the side of the highway in a Rolls Royce. This guy sure knows how to flame out in style! 🔥 What are the odds he’s filed bankruptcy within 5 years of retirement? Does Vegas have lines on these things?
  14. Anything that helps the Vikes 2nd round draft pick sink is good with me. As long as nobody is hurt, of course.
  15. You can stand on a stool if you have to, and we don’t want to hear any whining from you!
  16. I think Knox fixed his concentration drops, but was hampered by the wrist injury/surgery last year. Cook I pray can fix his concentration drops, which seem to happen when points are at stake. Bad timing, settle down. I don’t think it’s a matter of having bad hands.
  17. I agree on this season. Depending on how this year goes, the WR position may still be a high priority again next offseason. If someone doesn’t emerge to get the attention of the defense, we need to keep looking. We will probably need a top threat to open things up more for the “other guys”, I think. Time will tell.
  18. WAY too young. Died in his sleep at 40 years old. No cause of death disclosed. Here’s a link without a paywall. https://www.click2houston.com/sports/2024/07/14/former-texans-ravens-wide-receiver-super-bowl-standout-jacoby-jones-died-overnight-at-his-home-in-houston-area/ RIP
  19. Nyheim Hines says it is MUCH better for you than jet skiing. I‘ll check in on this event every time for a little bit, just because it’s so stunningly beautiful there. Lake Tahoe is a place I’d love to see in person at least once.
  20. Social hour with terrible food? We were in different leagues, apparently. We had 14 courts of doubles with lights (21 Har-Tru courts total, plus the hard courts), and the top few courts had former college (and even professional) players. The food afterward came out of a tap, and we poured it from a pitcher. Then I’d go home and float on a raft in the pool watching the clouds past the moon…..and it was one of the best times of my life. To each their own. Those were great times, times that I miss. Side note: Nick from Gary, IN mentioned to me once “I know you’re probably a bit nervous about Tom and Chris (Tom had a full ride to Univ of FL, and Chris was his tournament doubles partner who lived in my neighborhood and filled in when they had someone fall out from the pro exhibitions). He said “the tall guy is your 4th, and I sat in his family room and watched video of him playing Connors and Lendl at the US Open.” Some people would pay a lot more than the league fee to have that experience, and that would include me. Sorry, long ramble over good times is over.
  21. I was in a tennis league and meeting the guys on my court for that night. One guy I was meeting for the first time, and we were doing the whole what do you do, where are you from thing. I explained I was originally from Buffalo, went to school in Cincinnati, etc. I asked him and he said “I’m from the armpit of the United States.” I replied “Gary, Indiana? I drove thru once, about as fast as I could.” He said “if you’ve been there, you get it.” What are the odds of that? Turned out to be a really good guy.
  22. That was his intent, I’m sure. I suggest you settle it like men at the next tailgate. (It can be part of his pre-game warmup.) I can spring for a ride for you, unless you are hiding like Bin Laden to avoid the encounter.
  23. I forget the exact numbers, but the owner of the NBA Timberwolves years ago was talking about the Kevin Garnett contract and said “I only paid $95 million to own the team, now I have to pay this one guy $126 million?” 😂
