If I had to guess, some form of life is all over the place, including places on this planet you wouldn’t think possible. Does intelligent life have to develop from that? My experience on TSW tells me intelligent life is far more difficult to find. 😂

I appreciate your unwillingness to say anything with 100% certainty. THAT is my main point. We can not know. I’m NOT saying anything is out there, but it could be just as simple as they are not interested in visiting? Maybe they are out there and very advanced, but the travel is in fact still not possible for them? Or, if they didn’t want us to be aware of them, I’m sure we wouldn’t. Because I can’t see them does not mean they are not there. I just don’t think we are as smart as we think we are. We study species all over the world who have no real knowledge of our civilization while living here on the same planet. If they exist why don’t we know about them? Maybe because they like it that way? This sounds like I’m pushing something, but that’s not the case. I just don’t think Fermi’s Paradox is all that convincing of anything. In the big picture, there is very little we DO know. We’ve only had television broadcasts for less than a 100 years, for heavens sake. We are just here for a blink of an eye, who am I to say what is or isn’t out there after billions of years. I don’t know, because we cannot know. That applies to all of us. No, I didn’t read it, so I could be way off here. But I’m guessing he was a fairly young and impressionable person who saw a top national celebrity. I was stupid once too. Josh needed people to get past some of his tweets when he was young. Aside from that, I’m more focused on the thread title. It speaks some truth, IMO.

Sorry, but I have to disagree to some extent. I think 95% of the complaining comes from the 5% who feel the “need to vent”. They do it repeatedly with redundant threads because everyone thinks their take is just a little bit different, and they like attention. They reword the titles to make it look different, but they all want their own personal complaint forum, when the same thought is already out there a dozen ways. They just don’t want their personal thought getting lost in an existing thread, it seems. NOW, do NOT get me wrong! There ARE things that need fixing. There are things that are fine to vent about. But we can beat that poor dead horse deader than a horse should ever be. Complaining about the complainers is but a grain of sand on the beach compared to the redundant complaints about the Bills FO, coaches and players. To me, it’s OK to flip the coin sometimes and point that out. I know many will disagree, and that’s fine. I’m not the Bills Booster Club president, I just like reason and balance.

They raise money by promising hope, then spend it on a mansion, or at least this guy did. Little old ladies send in money they dearly need hoping to get into Heaven. You don’t have to go full blown St Francis of Assisi, but their bottom line should not be THE bottom line. They promise heaven, but they often take more than they give. What they preach is not always what they live. For every good televangelist out there, there are far too many Jerry Falwell’s. Too many pure scam artists. I have nothing against people of wealth, quite the opposite. But HOW you got the wealth matters to me. Buying a house for $17.5 MILLION dollars tells me they are not all about ministering to their faithful. Book deals or not. The people buying the books are the same people who watch them on Sunday’s and buying his $17.5 Mil mansion for him on 17 acres in a prime Atlanta location. Feel free to respond, but I probably will not reply again. That is a dirty world so many of those people live in. And don’t get me started on the addiction/rehab industry. Again, it sounds like a good cause, but it’s dirty as hell.

Fermi Paradox aside (I’m not going down that rabbit hole), nobody can KNOW for sure one way or the other. THAT is my main point. To say you are certain, due to your own version of “the math” or anything else is just indefensible posturing. It is nothing more than one more opinion.

As long as Mississippi is on the agenda, I used to review real estate appraisal reports from Mississippi and Alabama. It is a different world down there! GUYS WOULD WRITE PAGES AND PAGES OF HOT GARBAGE IN ALL CAPS WITHOUT BOTHERING WITH PARAGRAPHS AND VERY LITTLE PUNCTUATION. THEY WOULD TELL ME THEY WERE TAUGHT TO WORK FOR SPEED I SUGGESTED THEY TAKE SOME PRIDE IN THEIR WORK AND TRY TO THROW A LITTLE QUALITY IN WITH THEIR SPEED THEY DIDN’T LIKE THAT ONE LITTLE BIT SO WE HAD A BIT OF A STAND-OFF FOR MONTHS I WOULD FIND EVERY NITPICKY LITTLE THING AND MAKE HIM FIX IT TIME AFTER TIME. HE WAS TWO STUBBORN AND STUPID TO CHANGE HIS WAYS BUT I THINK I EVENTUALLY STARTED TO WEAR HIM DOWN. HE COULDN’T GET PAID UNTIL I HAD A REPORT THAT WAS ACCEPTABLE NOW IMAGINE IF THIS WENT ON FOR THREE MORE PAGES AND YOU WERE TRYING TO MAKE SENSE OF IT ITS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE One guy actually said to me “come on, don’t I get a break? I’m in Tupelo MS! What do you want from me?” Parts of MS and AL do not have MLS, and they are non-disclosure states, meaning no information of value (transfer amounts, dates, etc.) were available in public records. They relied upon uncle JimBob the only real estate agent in 5 counties for information, which is far from cool in the appraisal world, but it was all there was. I found myself wondering if Bangladesh ran better than Mississippi. Sorry, but that little bit of venting helped. 😋 I don’t think he’s even been charged yet, and maybe he never will be. The former Gov was the one who failed to play by the rules, and I’m pretty sure this isn’t an isolated case of bad deeds. .

That knowledge may come from an alleged highway rest area rendezvous between Favre and @Gugny. It’s the stuff of legend down thar in Mississippi. Favre certainly comes off looking bad, but I hope the Governor gets actual jail time. (I know, call me a dreamer!) Anybody can ask for something. I remember a few years ago people complaining that the TBN links were there, but you had to pay to read them. This happened because….people saw an opportunity to complain. You know how we hate missed opportunities! 😋 My college hoops board has a totally voluntary fee of $12.50/year to be a “supporting member”. I’s peanuts to any one person, and a great investment. It’s well worth the tiny investment to keep things running smoothly. .

Please point out the posts that say this. Take your time, because I don’t recall seeing any. I’m not perfectly content making the playoffs. I want to win a Super Bowl as much as anybody. BUT, I’d rather win 14 games and not win the SB than win 7 and not be in the playoffs. That seems pretty simple to me. I enjoy the season, one win at a time. .

How many hours is the internet open every day? Put me down for that much! My iPad will tell you I’m good for about 8 hours a day of screen time. That’s a FULL DAY! The truth is I have certain tabs up and they stay up all day long. I come back and check in on a regular basis, but I’m not active nearly that much…..but it’s still too much. Gotta go now! Trying to cut back! You sound like you have friends, and a life and stuff. I am unburdened by such issues. 😋

WAIT! Your actual math doesn’t seem to say the same thing as “generic, undisclosed math”. How could that be??? Did that say the Drake formulas dates back to 1961? That’s over 60 years ago, which is enough time to allow for all kinds of new info. New starting points. The recent and frequent discovery of habitable planets in the Goldilocks strike zone has astonished scientists. What will the next generation of telescopes uncover? The one thing I know for sure is how little we know. Unlike some small minded people who think we already have all the knowledge we will ever have. Wait until we figure out if wormholes are real, and if they could be used by a far more advanced civilization. I’d guess that there is all kinds of mind blowing stuff we can’t even imagine, much less explain!
