Money, always about the money….. WTH did I just see at the end of the Creighton game?????

They exist because they do work at times, there is no doubt about that. Some are actually quite clever. I’m not sure how they know my 95 year old mother is such an easy mark, but they are ALL OVER her. We’ve taken away the bank accounts and credit cards, but the calls and emails are hard to stop. This is not just your typical Nigerian Prince stuff. This is his much smarter and better looking cousin.

They started the season hot, hit a rough patch but are now peaking at the right time. That’s the key in March Madness: play your best ball when it matters most. If Creighton can get past San Diego State the Big East will have half of the Final Four. Not too shabby. Big IF though.

This tournament has not disappointed. Almost every game is amazing. Sorry that Xavier las night was the exception.

But he is not actually Einstein, and even Einstein’s obit didn’t lead with something about how he didn’t get it. OK, I’m done for now.

Nowell continues to amaze. He just made what might be the best basketball pass I’ve ever seen. Spinning toward the basket he fit the ball thru a hole in the defenders smaller than a hoop to his guy under the basket. This is pure entertainment!

I believe you once said you’re not good at reading the room. Do you understand nuance? Maybe read what you just posted to the OP. It could be read like “so now we know who the idiot is.” I don’t think you meant it that way, but there should be no doubt. Saying sorry after that doesn’t clear the taste. I don’t mean this in a negative way, it’s just an observation. It’s not always WHAT you say, but more HOW you say it. It makes a big difference. And some things you just think 😋

I appreciate the distinction. I always had bosses. My wife had a boss who was also her mentor. The boss “bosses”, but the mentor made her career. .

I’m afraid you underestimate the capacity of our system. 😋 And it’s not all positive. These things tend to circle the drain pretty quickly.

I think a lot of people forget to some degree that Ed (and Gabe Davis as well) fought thru high ankle sprains. Somewhere there was a video that showed how difficult it is for a DT to anchor with a bad ankle with a 320 LB guy or two trying to move you. That hurt me just to watch. They both get a bit of slack in my mind for playing thru that.

Thank goodness! Owners write checks for football people, or at least the good ones do. EDIT: I think we can get to 200 pages by the end of this weekend!!! 😋 .

Yep, it’s like “successful surgery”. They rarely come out and say “yeah, I really effed that one up!”

I can fully assure you that it is not mine.

We were at an Embassy Suites in Florida a couple months ago. You get a couple free house drinks during happy hour if you’re staying there. I sit down at the bar and the drunk guy next to me starts blasting the bartender and some girl who must have been on her first week. “I don’t want the cheap stuff! Why do I have to show my room key? How dare you treat us like this?!? The Ritz would never treat us like this!” On and on, until I couldn’t take it. I asked if he had ever stayed at this hotel before. No, he says. Well I have, and they had locals from the neighborhood who came by nightly for 2 hours of free drinks (it used to be unlimited). Yes, you need to show a room key until they know you. Then I pointed out the window to the Ritz across the street. I told him we were there the night before, and they have no free drinks whatsoever. You can’t even get a seat there. Oh, and the rooms are $1,600 a night. You’re saving over $1k/night, you can afford to buy your own top shelf drinks. Level voice, but tore down everything he was saying. He pissed me off. And then he shut up, he just wanted to be a drunk bully. Upside, you ask? The bar staff treated me like a King for the rest of our stay. They couldn’t fight back, but somebody did it for them. I mean, the head guy set up a dinner table outside by the pool on the 8th floor (there were no dining tables outside) with a sunset view over Sarasota Bay, the Gulf of Mexico AND a view of the basketball game I wanted to see inside at the bar. He even went and got flowers for the table to please my wife. He was tipped accordingly. Moral of the story: life is better if you are NOT a jerk. .

This is outrageous! Isn’t the NFL responsible for accommodating our disability in some way? Maybe let the other guys only have 10 guys on defense? We need some justice!

The trades were making me dizzy. I had to stop. It was almost like those damn teacups at the fair. .

I’m not going back to look, but I think it was about making free throws helps you close out a basketball game. It’s winning time. Like being able to run when you have a lead in football.

It’s like having a running game: it’s nice to be capable closing out a game. I freely admit I don’t watch much outside of the Big East, so it’s fun to see a lot of new teams and players. When was the last time Kentucky won anything? He gets top recruits but wins very little for the talent level it seems.

Nowell sets an NCAA Tournament record with 19 assists. On a bum ankle. And makes his shots. That was some classic stuff!

It’s a good time to be retired! I think the game I want to see the most tonight is UCLA vs Gonzaga, and that’s going to be on til midnight! I don’t know how I don’t know anything about Florida Atlantic or how they ended up in the Sweet 16. I expect Tennessee to give them a drubbing, but that is why they play the games, and what makes this tournament so awesome!
