  1. He will spend some time in-line next to a tackle, I’m sure, but he will be mostly in the slot. If you have him in the slot he needs to be blocking on every running play. Even the WR’s need to block. You don’t take a play off because the ball is not coming to you. Somebody else has the ball, and you need to keep your guy off of him. You block for the man with the ball, not just Josh. Kincaid seems fine with throwing himself into the mix to do his best, even if it’s not his strength. I loved his attitude and willingness in the clip I saw of him NOT getting the ball. That’s a team guy.
  2. Was it Chris Rock who said “you are only as loyal as your options”? If he can find a better option, we will hear a revised statement. I don’t blame him for anything he has said, but I also know it is subject to change.

    King Charles

I didn’t see a second of it. But my wife had it on around 6:15am so I did get to hear some of it before I cranked up the white noise machine. That fixed THAT!
  4. Including…………..the Random Thoughts thread! I am nothing if not full of random thoughts. I’m still working on coherent thoughts. Always a work in progress. 😋 I have no idea what kind of a fit Simmons might be, but I’m sure Beane & Co are leaving no stone unturned (despite what they say publicly). I’d feel a lot better with someone who has done this before. We have too much talent to waste by leaving a weak spot in the middle of the D to be exploited.
  5. I’m sorry, maybe I should have been more clear. We all know he’s not an every down, in-line blocker. But 90%+ of the time the ball is not going to him. I saw a clip somewhere that showed him getting the ball less than half of the plays. It’s what he did when the ball did NOT go to him that left me impressed by his willingness. Blocking in the run game and down field is an important ingredient. EVERYBODY blocks in the run game, and downfield. He’s game, he just needs some work there for the next level. .
  6. I think we are all trained to think of TE’s as questionable first round value. But the game is changing, and they can be game changing playmakers too as we see here. I’m glad he is at least a wiling blocker, even if it needs some work. The more well rounded you can be, the more dangerous you can be.
  7. Take that thing to a tailgate and get a few bowling ball shots in him. Death will ensue, but you might not like the details. 🤷‍♂️ I was offended at first, but my wife has done a pretty good job of getting me ready to go out in public.
  8. That was great, but I didn’t see the TD catch I was talking about. Maybe I blinked, but they stay on one play for a while so I don’t think I missed it. I’ll look for it later. It shows his flexibility and ball tracking while making it all look SO EASY and natural. He’s not a big stiff, he’s athletic as hell.
  9. We’ll never know what might have happened if the little run on WR’s didn’t take place, but I like having a guy who is a mismatch and can put pressure on a defense. He’s not just another good WR, he’s a different part like a new chess piece. We have a bishop/rook hybrid!
  10. I didn’t watch enough to have an opinion on his hands. People rarely have drops in their highlight reel, so I really like your stats. That’s VERY encouraging. What DID stand out to me on film was how fluid he is and how well he tracks the ball. It’s only one play, but that TD catch in the end zone where he’s looking over the left shoulder, then adjusts to the catch over his right shoulder is only one play, but it was a very impressive one to me. I can’t wait to see this guy in a Bills uniform! I hope Dorsey and the OLine make strides, because we could be even more dangerous going forward. .
  11. It was around that time that he was playing donkey noises endlessly on the radio as I was working in my office. It just would not stop! I got up, walked across the room, and turned Rome off. Forever. It’s sort of a shame, because he does good interviews, but I couldn’t take all of his schtick.
  12. The Jests thought there was something fishy about that delivery. They immediately identified Bill as the culprit, since he is the Dean of the Fishy Department.
  13. Oh, I was afraid to go to the ex. I fear what terrible things I might do wrong if I went down that road.
  14. There are two names who would have immediately screamed Hall of Fame at you, if they only had the drive. I feel like it’s a sad waste of talent, but then it’s not my life.
  15. I’m generally not cheap, but that feels like a stupidity tax I am not willing to pay.
  16. I think my biggest concern with him is his weight. He dropped 17 lbs to get down to 330 LBS? That concerns me over time. Is he one of “those guys”? On the flip side, he doesn’t give up sacks and went all year without a penalty. That sounds like a disciplined guy, and that is encouraging. Let us hope this is a pick we are rejoicing over a decade from now.
  17. It’s not about the signs. They weren’t all exactly $3.25, but not much more than $.05 different. EXCEPT the guy at $3.89, and people are still lining up to buy his gas. That was my point. I asked a friend what he thought of that, and he said he never looked or paid attention to the price. He just pulls in and fills up. But unless you are traveling, don’t you know how high that is?
  18. That’s like finding a bunch of $20 bills in your pants pocket. HEY! I forgot all about that! A pleasant moment, indeed. 😋 .

    RIP Jerry

Because I lived in Cincinnati when I did, and I never saw more than 30 seconds of his show, the personal check thing is my first thought. He also had a place on Bird Key in Sarasota, as a number of celebrities do. There would be sightings all over town. But writing those checks is the first thing I think of. Jerry being Jerry, I doubt he would mind.
  20. I passed by gas stations around us with gas for $3.25 today. I get to the gas station outside our neighborhood and cars are lined up to buy gas for $3.89. I’m not cheap, but I’m not stupid, either. I want to pull in and question these people, which would result in absolutely nothing good.

    RIP Jerry

I lived in Cincinnati around his time during college. Another interesting fact about him is that he thought it was a good idea to pay hookers with personal checks. That might give a little insight to the man and the show he created. It wasn’t for me, but it worked for him. I did NOT know about his birth, which is interesting. RIP
  22. I had some lessons as a kid, but didn’t really start playing tennis seriously until after college. I moved to Hilton Head Island where life revolves around golf and tennis. Almost every day after work we’d all meet up at the courts for a couple sets, then off for pizza and a couple pitchers. Those were great times. When we moved to Florida I joined a club. They had a Monday night league with 14 courts of doubles under the lights. You would play one set with each guy, so if you won all three sets you’d have 18 points. The higher your point average, the higher the court you played on. It was a great format. If you were the best or worst player there, you got spread amongst the others. The players ranged from average club hacks (3.5ish players) to guys who played in college or even professionally. One Monday early in a league season I had a couple good weeks behind me and got assigned to court #1. I know two of the guys are. One guy got a full ride to play for Univ of Florida and a neighbor of mine who was the doubles partner with the UF guy when they played competitive tournaments. I had played with them before and it’s part intimidating, part exhilarating. A buddy taps me on the shoulder and says “I know you’re probably a bit anxious to be on the court with Tom and Chris, but you don’t need to worry about them tonight.” I’m a little confused and he nods to a tall guy who is our fourth. My buddy tells me that guy is named Mark Dickson, lives up the street from him, and he sat in his family room and watched a replay of him playing Connors and Lendl at the US Open. He made the quarterfinals in 1983. Rut roh! Quick summary of the highlight of my tennis career……. I got 9 games that night, so lost by an average of 6-3, and I held my serve every time. I was thrilled! Mr US Open was a gracious man who could hit a kick serve to my backhand I had to jump to just touch while standing at the baseline. It seemed to defy the laws of physics. Mr UF works with me to do the unthinkable, which is to charge that serve and take it on the rise. In recent years I’d go to a park Mon-Fri and see the same group of guys playing doubles, maybe 3-4 courts full. I’d go and mostly hit ground strokes for 2-3 hours. I’ve got a partially torn rotator cuff which makes serving or overheads a problem, and if you can’t serve, what’s the point? I haven’t hit a ball in over 2 years now but just returned from the park where I walked the dog and saw my buddies. I have some rotator cuff exercises from previous bouts causing me to take a year or more off. I think I’m going to give it a go again. Sorry, that was long but tennis was a big part of my life for decades. .
  23. I was the author, but I’m not in the mood to argue right now. I am clearly credible. I’m on the internet! 😋 I am strangely hopeful about Von’s recovery. Watching Tre struggle was painful. We’ll never know how much was physical and how much was emotional, but I hope the young man finds his form this year. He’s just so easy to like.
  24. I’m fully on board with going offense first. I loved the first couple rounds. But we need a solid presence in the middle of the zone, and that’s not Klein. He didn’t play enough to get too much film on what we were doing. He’s a stop gap, not the answer.
  25. I’ll defer to anyone with better medical knowledge, but ACL surgery is ACL surgery. My son had it in HS. Von had a partial tear, but there’s no way to patch it back. It was going to tear, so they just went ahead and replaced it with a patella, hamstring or donor graft. ACL’s are not repaired, they are replaced. The biggest difference is associated damage, especially meniscus which may need additional surgery. The MCL just heals itself if that’s damaged. Von is a man of discipline, drive and competitiveness. I think he’ll be back when we need him, and he will be a difference maker. Super Bowl MVP part Deux??? 😋
