  1. So, if someone is on ignore, does that mean the threads they start don’t show up? Asking for a friend.
  2. And yet the Crusade continues! Go figure!
  3. That sounds like exhausting work! Maybe I can make bar research my retirement job? 😋 🍺 Looks great! Nice place to enjoy the season with like minded fans.
  4. Having virtually all the knowledge of mankind in my pocket might have helped my GPA. 😋
  5. Sexism is alive and well. My wife went to the Lexus dealer today to drive the Hybrid version of her current car. She went alone on her way home from a hair appointment. I was walking the dog at the park and saw no reason to join her. She can do whatever she wants as far as a new car goes. It’s pretty simple. Or, so we thought! She went into the sales office to find a few sales people engaged with customers, and other employees (sales and otherwise) just engaged with each other. When a guy or a couple went by they were always greeted and asked if they could be helped. My wife stood and watched this over and over, while nobody said so much as hello to the female standing there, in a sales office, by herself. She watched in amazement….until she stormed out. “It was like I was INVISIBLE!”
  6. I know this is a WNY thread, but I’ve never seen a place celebrate summer like Minneapolis! Everything is covered in flowers and the people walk, bike and jog everywhere! We tried to get into a nice restaurant on our first night there, a Thursday. It was packed with a super long wait so we went with plan B and promised ourselves to be earlier the next night to get a table. We showed up Friday night to find the place EMPTY! WTF? We asked about it and were told “it’s Friday, always quiet.” Huh? They had to explain to us that all summer long people take long weekends to go to their lake houses. The city emptied out to go enjoy summer! After all, winter is the time to hibernate! Enjoy it while you can!
  7. Au contraire! I will be leaving soon to work a cargo ship crossing the Atlantic in order to pay for my bed at the hostel. I hope to sneak into the game, or at least listen to the roar of the crowd from the grounds outside. I’m on a strict budget, unlike my rich Uncle @HOUSE. EDIT: I just looked at tix out of curiosity. A single ticket looked like a good seat and out of place in the pricing scheme. I went to the stadium site to identify how far buried in the middle of the section seat #77 is (I’ll pay EXTRA to be on/near the aisle) only to learn that row 21 only has 76 seats in that section. That’s a bit of a concern……should it be? .
  8. I just have one seat to buy, so it’s not as big of a deal. BUT, if it’s absolutely ridiculous, I have the bold to fall back on. Can’t lose, the way I see it!
  9. Please! Do tell us more!
  10. My wife wants to run a foundation after she retires. She has worked in and knows that world. She says “everybody LOVES you for giving away someone else’s money!” Good point! I don’t think she’ll ever have a lazy stage. Her mother didn’t need to, but she worked until she died. I seem to have settled into the lazy stage just fine.
  11. Another clue I’ve learned in life, the people who are the most successful and wealthiest rarely make that immediately apparent. NEVER do they offer tax returns on an internet message board. We have known some incredibly successful people, some who can’t remember the last time they flew commercial, but you would never know it to sit down with them. EDIT: It seems a lot of the most successful people seem more interested in you than themselves. .
  12. I looked at the cheapest of cheap seats on StubHub yesterday and you could get in for $250-300 USD. Not sure if the upper deck for $500 is better seats? There was no shortage of secondary tickets after the people who do this to put food on the table scarfed up all they could.
  13. It’s pointless. Nice try, but it reason will go nowhere. If your child isn’t the Valedictorian every year, you really need to look into an orphanage somewhere.
  14. No, to contend means that you have a good chance of doing well in something upcoming. That is what the word means.
  15. Vegas has us behind only KC and Philly. Is that not contending as a favorite to you? Or should we listen to the people here?
  16. Who are you calling “old-timer”, you creepy guy looking over my shoulder! 😋 …….they were not just family trips, we spent the entire summer up there in a cottage. My dad drove back in for work every day. I slept on the screened porch, which I now realize was because all the beds were full inside. To this day I love sleeping on a hammock on the back porch! EDIT: I was actually looking at WNY real estate today thinking of how lovely it is, much of the year. It’s the rest of the year that is concerning. .
  17. I had reasons for not quoting someone there. You’re welcome! 😋 .
  18. I hope it wasn’t one of the first things you learned about him…..like so many of the people who ever attended Harvard.
  19. A high IQ can be wasted by a low EQ, sadly.
  20. If you can’t get a 1,600 on your SAT’s there’s no point in getting out of bed that morning.
  21. I feel like someone is trying to sell me on the Ignore feature.
  22. I live in the college football land of Atlanta. It’s not just UGA plates around here, you see Auburn, Bama, FSU, UF and so on. Any chance to charge a little extra! 💰
  23. I think they must be using the Ignore feature. 🤷‍♂️
  24. I know I’ve heard that before. I just can’t remember if it was in Physics or Philosophy.
