  1. Takeo Spikes would be VERY disappointed! .
  2. We are 3 games in and averaging 34 points/game with a 3-0 record. Nobody is giving away a Randy Moss in his prime, and I think this is less of a problem than some people make it out to be. I’m looking forward to seeing this play out this season so we’ll have a better idea of how active we need to be in the offseason, but for now I think we’ve got our WR room set. Keep running the ball effectively and we will get our shots downfield in time.
  3. Let’s play a fun game and list all the NFL teams that do not have some type of need(s) as perceived by their fans. Well, THAT was fun! You do the best you can with what you have, and you never have everything you want. Yes, we have some thin spots for sure, but overall I like our roster and potential.* *EDIT: I really love our potential late in the year on D if we have everyone healthy and available. That could be fun for a change, though you can never be deep enough at DB. .
  4. If we can stay successful running the ball we should force a safety down into the box to help open things up. The long ball doesn’t have to be a staple of the offense, but it has to be a legit threat.
  5. Nothing was open but the touchdown. Bummer. Josh also could have run it in, and someone else had a half step in the back of the end zone as well, I think.
  6. This is difficult to impossible. I can’t play GM based on what I know today, because I don’t know what the GM knows. Beane knows more than we do, that’s just a fact. He may not always be right (especially according to some here), but he knows more about injury situations and player preparedness than we do. How long is Hairston really looking at from a health perspective. If 100% healthy tomorrow, how ready is he to actually help? How long is Milano realistically expected to miss? What would we like to do against our upcoming opponents? There is so much we don’t know. I know we all want to be smarter than our GM, but we are not. I promise you don’t want me as our GM, and I’ll go ahead and say I like our odds better with Beane than with the rank and file here.
  7. You learned what a persistent bunch we are, but I’m not quitting until I know what this is about!!!
  8. That actually just replayed on NFLN, and I had to chuckle. There was less than nothing there for them. One of the Big Guy’s shining moments too, so I had to back up a few times. Yep, I saw him interviewed and he said he got a little piece. I’m glad it wasn’t much more!
  9. Reading the post you quoted made me wonder how much the Dolphins decided to win by.
  10. I will give them credit for tremendous stamina, however.
  11. The bar is pretty low, so it’s easy to expect too much. Yet here we are.
  12. I’m glad these are the kind of things people are clinging to to complain about. It’s also amusing to see the same predictable crowd agreeing.
  13. The kickoff is a much uglier play in person. TV coverage helps to hide what an ugly play that is with the kicker so far behind the actual football players. Yes, that’s an odd first reaction, but I wish the NFL played football like the rest of the world.
  14. When my father could no longer hear well enough to communicate even with his hearing aids, his decline was obvious and fairly rapid. He just withdrew from everything and I still feel sorry about the isolated state he was in. Any suggestions as far as brands or types? I know nothing about this world. .
  15. A little inside joke with my wife from a dinner we had at an old blue hair place in Sarasota, the Bijou Cafe across from the Opera House. I don’t think we needed fake ID’s to get in, but we were the only working couple there at the time. A couple at the table next to us gets animated and we hear the wife say “Frank, you forgot your hearing aids, didn’t you?” Frank responds “WHAT???” I swear we still laugh at that, so we need to laugh at ourselves as well moving forward.
  16. Serious (but silly sounding) question: What can’t you hear? I think I’m hearing just fine, but I often have a hard time picking the words out from the music and background noise watching a movie. I can hear my wife in the kitchen, but I’m not always sure what she just said. It’s not volume as much as clarity for me. This got considerably worse when we moved a few years ago to a house with higher ceilings. I know we need more fabric in here, because I can hear just fine in the basement acoustics with lower ceilings and fully carpeted. I’ve had a couple friends try hearing aids with varying satisfaction. Background noise in a restaurant or crowd is a frequent issue. I’m not far off from needing them myself, so I’m eager to hear what others have to say. I don’t even know the questions yet, much less answers. BTW - I don’t know if they are like that everywhere, but the Costco near us if full of saints dealing with my 97 year old mother and her basic hearing aids. They didn’t try to upsell to something fancy, and they have the patience of Job.
  17. Physics does not apply downtown on the lake, but only if you are beneath a dome. That has been verified on the internet.
  18. Elvis did it??? Trust nobody!
  19. “The Sting” was the first “clever” movie I remember watching growing up. Butch Cassidy came a few years earlier, but I guess I was a bit too young to catch that live. Great stuff, even today.
  20. Oh boy, and my hopes for the Bills were so high for this season.
  21. Fine, but we know here to find you!
  22. The condiment ceremony is typically about 90 minutes before kickoff, so yes, you’d need to get there a bit sooner just for that. Being your first time there is a whole lot more to soak up and enjoy. You came all this way, make the most of it and enjoy!
  23. Years ago I worked with a young lady who was expecting her first child. She came to me one day to ask what it would be like, and I gave her some lame answer off the top of my head. A few hours later I went to her office and tried to do better. I said it’s hard to describe, but the highs will be higher and the lows will be lower when you have a child. Everything is magnified, and you won’t believe how much you can care for something even more than yourself. We’ve been thru the wringer with our kids, with both good and bad like most people. It’s not just one child who is affected by difficult things, it affects everyone in their universe. Life teaches you to heighten your empathy, because you know what it’s like to have something so dear to you struggling. I hope and pray that one day this will be remembered as “when we turned the corner.” .
  24. Keon was a second rounder.
