Umm, what?

My sense of smell is not what it used to be. (I’ll get there, I promise!) It’s a nice early summer night here, with a light breeze. I tried to let the dogs out but the older dog wouldn’t go if I didn’t. I went out and sat on a patio while the neighbor behind us cut his grass. He’s got a fairly big lot for a push mower, so it takes him a while. He almost hummed me to sleep. When I was 14 in NY I got my working papers. I was too young to do much else, so I pushed a lawnmower for 40 hours a week at the complex we lived in. The hum of the engine, the vibration and the smell of the gas and the fresh cut grass stays with you. When I gave in to the dog tonight and went down to the patio I realized the smell of his fresh cut grass from the guy behind us was the strongest scent I can remember. I sat down and listened and smelled until he finished. It was crazy how the smell took me back to that time. Much like when I get a fresh whiff of tidal marsh around Hilton Head, or crushed shell pathways in Harbour Town. Smell doesn’t get enough credit. .

Since we already have Da Bears and other jokes, let’s celebrate the man and appreciate his work. This is a few minutes of awesomeness to me. .

Oh, this one strikes deep. RIP That was our “home date night” on Thursdays when we were first married. Cheers and tacos every Thursday for must see TV.

Have we ever seen them in the same place at the same time? 🤷‍♂️

I think the Bills came out and said that by the time they learned of it, there was very little left on the DT market and they felt their best option was just to proceed. I obviously don’t like it either, but both the team and the player felt it was still the thing to do. They know a lot more about how it went down than I do. 🤷‍♂️

I think he took a pay cut from college ball. They don’t stand a chance of real success until the owner is fired….and that doesn’t happen.

Maybe if you are on the Titanic and the ship is sinking, you grab onto anything that floats? Did he have better options? But he gets his shot, and that’s all a man can ask for. I’ve met some guys who got shots like that, and I’m happy for them.

I’ll blame this thread for the steaks we had last night. No, I should thank this thread. Not only was the steak great, but we roasted the fattest asparagus I’ve ever seen. Like, maybe it should have been genetically tested because you don’t see ‘em like that very often! Great meal, but there is a time for a burger, too.

I don’t mean to be a downer, but we have pics of me and my sons after a game 50 miles down the road in Sarasota, and I’m wetter than they are! That, and the unknown Lightning delays that can go on for hours. My kid’s in the game, I came on the bus……there are no good options there as we gather in the steamy huts looking for shelter from the downpour and occasional lightning bolt to make everyone jerk a little bit. Sorry, I thinking I’m just dredging up some old scars. Those memories are just the few nightmares. 😊 .

But, other than that…..

He also spent a lot of his time growing up on basketball. You don’t get offered by Tom Izzo without playing a LOT of hoops. Maybe he’s a bit behind in terms of refined route running as a result? Football became full time for him later than most. 🤷‍♂️ It will be interesting to see going forward. I didn’t love him at FSU, nor did my FSU grad son, but he’s ours now and I hope he keeps developing. I liked a lot of what I saw, at times.

I’m honest with people who want to gamble on the golf course. I’m here for my pleasure, and where I hit the ball from has a lot to do with my happiness. Nobody wants to gamble with a guy who tells you he intends to cheat. Even if I DON’T cheat, it gets me off the hook. I don’t gamble.

I guess my foot wedge is probably going to face some scrutiny as well.

I went to a September game in Jacksonville about 20 years ago. I remember paying $250/seat and realizing we were the only people left in our row. It was so hot the Bills were rotating the OLine. We had to join everyone else in the concourse and watch the game on little monitors behind the concession stands. After that I turned down free tickets in September in Florida.

James Worthy would be great, if we were having a pickup game of hoops. But Coleman played hoops for Michigan St, so he’s no slouch there!

The good news is, once we suck again the prices will come down. Wait……
