How long does it take an NFL head coach to reach his 1st Super Bowl?
Augie replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Speaking of missing the point, it’s a whole bunch of things, and McD is one. He arrived in 2017, with josh drafted in 2018. So YES, he was A PART of drafting Allen. But I don’t like to put all the credit or all the blame in one place, because that would be ignorant and simple minded. It’s not that easy or simple. NOW, go back and count how many times the parameters have changed since this silly thread was started. One correct answer would be “plenty”. A better answer would be “too many.” This is sports, people. It is not a math equation. The entire premise from the beginning was biased, and that has been proven over and over. . . -

People (some, at least) don’t want to give McD credit for anything the Bills do with Josh. “He’s got a franchise QB doing all the heavy lifting!” Does anyone get credit for identifying the potential of a SUPER RAW prospect, then developing a staff and QB (and the REST of the team) to get to that level of success? I’m sure there are QB’s who had a ton of talent, but never reached that upper level. It’s a whole bunch of things that get you to the pinnacle - but if it doesn’t support the “McD just wins because of Josh” narrative it just gets ignored or we have to go looking for the goalposts again! . -
I think McDonald’s has higher standards than that!

You missed the point….entirely. We started the season in incredible fashion, then things took a turn. Did you miss that? That was real, and it was not like the beginning of the season. What changed is open for discussion. I’m not bashing, but I have serious questions. I like the upgrades, but I need to see it on the field going forward. That is not unreasonable, and certainly not ridiculous.

We want his dogs scouting advice??? 🤷♂️ That’s the most serious response I can give this.

If you were watching the games, you probably saw the same concerning trend that I did. The big offensive games came early in the year when we were nearly unstoppable and blowing teams out. Later in the year we were FAR less special. Stats are nice, but should be taken in context. We were not the same team later in the season. There could be any number of reasons for that, including the UCL injury Josh sustained. I’d bet quite a few here think I’m an impossible optimist, but I try to see the big picture while never getting too high or too low.

….and the season trend was not a good one over the course of the season and playoffs. I’m a glass half full guy, but I’m not sure about what to expect for the upcoming season.

I can put the wealth aside. I don’t resent rich people, and plenty of rich people are absolutely miserable. What he should be unhappy about is……those are his words! He said those things, so I have to think he believes those things. Sure he’s rich, but he’s also been exposed for who and what he really is. We are forgiving, but it usually takes some contrition. I don’t think we’ve seen that, but I could be wrong. I don’t care how rich you are. Knowing so many people around you think you are scum must feel uncomfortable. .

Did we do enough? I think we are getting there.

You were probably flashing back to what to do with a Playboy magazine after lights out was called. That can scar you. I’m guessing….. -
He’s in your attic. 😱

I have tried it, at my wife’s suggestion. I just did it once or twice, and I think it may have helped a bit. My biggest takeaway? Oddly, it made me claustrophobic. I had all these needles sticking out of me, and I couldn’t move. You say acupuncture, I think claustrophobia. I would have tried more if not for that.

I’m sure some bad things happened, but getting rid of Gruden and Snyder is not a terrible outcome.

Kids in their 20s and Early 30---worse then the panhandlers on the street?
Augie replied to plenzmd1's topic in Off the Wall
Our son and his wife had the rehearsal dinner at a brewery. It turned out great, it was very casual and cost us nothing. We would have sprung for the rehearsal dinner, but they did what THEY wanted, which was cool…..and cheap. . Both families gave the “kids” an equal amount of money before the wedding. Do you want an open bar for all your college friends? Or a down payment on a house? She’s a former wedding planner so she knew where to spend the money (the band was great and FAR more important than the food, which was fine), and he is…frugal! Because it was THIER money being spent, they were more even frugal than if mom and dad were throwing the event. COVID also helped as some states, including NC where they were married, had limitations on how large gatherings could be. The built-in excuse was very handy. We did a destination wedding in the Bahamas. It seems those not invited got bent out of shape, including extended family. Look, if I didn’t make the cut, I don’t care. At all. Have a great wedding and a great life together! But there is a party and a gift for everything! With their first child came a gender reveal weekend and a “push present”. WTF? If you don’t want to push, don’t. 🤷♂️ Just stay pregnant! I think the pushing will commence with or without a special gift! Our wedding was about 500 people, about a dozen of whom I knew. The brides father was the only dentist in town for decades. Once you start inviting, it was hard to draw the line so it was basically a public event over which I had no say. That was fine. -
But the weather is lovely, right? I mean, until the mudslides, earthquakes and wild fires.

I was wondering how long it would take someone to bite. I was afraid I was going to have to pull his finger!!!

I’m not a twitter guy and couldn’t find it, but when he wrote mother dearest about the worthy opponents who left a trail of chicken bones behind he got my attention! 😂

Andrew Luck should win something for his Civil War twitter act as Capt Luck or whatever he was. That was some funny stuff. https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/nfl/colts/2018/09/05/captain-andrew-luck-parody-account-colts-qb-best-tweets/1202981002/ .

Well, THAT is a little tidbit that I hope never comes in handy! 😋

One of the bank branches in my territory had a “robbery” attempt by a similarly bright thief. It was after 4:00pm so the lobby was closed. A car pulls up in the first lane in the drive-thru and the guy demands $20k. Little Ann Marie is working the drive-thru, and she just takes two steps to her right so the guy can’t see her. He yells for a little bit before taking off. Some plan! I arrived about the time the police were questioning her. They asked her how she knew something was up, and she said “he’s the only guy who pulled up all day with a towel over his head.” Life must be really difficult for people like this! .

I think it’s connected……somehow. I started skimming, maybe I missed the good part? 🤷♂️
