One of the best parts of having a pool in the South is that it’s usually a visual focal point. It’s something pretty to look out at, usually from most rooms in the house. If I had to cover it for much of the year, I might look toward landscaping and/or hardscaping for my focal point. But I do enjoy a pool! I’m curious: for the WNY pool owners, about how long is your open pool season?

I don’t know the rules in OP. Or what the rules were in London, but I was in the stadium more than an hour before the game just looking around. When the gates opened it looked like that in terms of the crowd. Then everybody flooded in and it looked more like you’d expect, but still MUCH nicer than what we are used to. I guess my main takeaway was not really about the stadium space as much as the inability to pour and sell beer. I have a 27 second video where 8 people behind the counter manage to sell about 5-6 beers to 600 waiting people. It’s hysterical….NOW! They set a cup on something perforating a hole in the bottom and it very slowly fills. Then, of course, the cup with the hole in the bottom leaks, so they pour it into another cup. Unfortunately, this created too much foam so it had to be done very slowly, and sometimes they’d forget which cups had a hole in the bottom and refill that. It was insane and might have resulted in a riot in OP. We’ve all seen how you CAN sell beer to huge crowds.

More like 2-3 hours before kickoff. The Tottenham stadium actually did look like that….when I first went inside. It was spacious and you could walk right up to a bar and get a drink. Then all the people arrived, and I spent about half of the second quarter trying to get a beer. It didn’t help that their beer delivery system is completely broken. For the record, filling the cups up thru a hole in the bottom leaves you with a cup of beer….still with a small hole in the bottom. What might go wrong there? I bet some of you can guess.

My wife knew Marlo thru her association with St Jude. Her dad helped Danny Thomas round up money from Lebanese and Syrian families in the rural south to get it out of the ground. ALSAC does the fundraising, and they are up there with Coke when it comes to branding. RIP Phil

Sorry, this reminds me of when I went to an outlet store with a buddy on our bikes. He got a long sleeve college football tee shirt for dirt cheap. What a STEAL! We rode home and he proudly showed his father, asst editor for Buffalo News sports. His dad was one of the kindest men ever, and calmly said “Missippissi State, huh? Looks good.” We were idiots. And apparently borderline literate.

Is this possibly the most depressing, yet fair and accurate, thread title every year? This time of year we all want no news. Like, stuck on the first page with lots of thumbs up!

Ohhh!!! That little mouse has a dark side! Seems to be enjoying it, too. We’ve been on a number of cruises, maybe a half dozen and on all different cruise lines. The food varied greatly by trip, from really good (Windstar, the only line affiliated with the James Beard Foundation), to…….……Disney. It was the kids’ first cruise, and the food was designed to be good enough for them. The kids weren’t paying for the trip.

I’m really more concerned about public safety.

I’m sorry, I just had to bump this ahead of the competition.

I heard somewhere today (sorry, I forget the source) that the Pats were offed a couple firsts this year, and a first next year to give up #3. That was THREE first round picks (plus some change in late rounds), and they declined. The cost of getting up into the top 6 picks or so would have been far more than I’d like to stomach. I don’t want to mortgage the future hoping a single player will pan out.
