I mean it's possible but a lot of unlikely things will have to occur imo

Some very unlikely things happened to keep us out of a SB. Stuff happens, good and bad.

I agree about the energy of the Bengals playoff game. I still look at the current version of the Bengals similar to the Colts as far as just seeming to have our number. Burrow/Taylor seem to be able to do whatever they want against us at a level that even rivals the Chiefs. I spent most my life in Michigan and Ohio. As you point out, Brown is notoriously cheap. You have to think that team will fail to sign its studs in the coming year. We need them to fall apart similar to how the Colts did.

The Bengals just might have a strong season this year due to a last place schedule and with Higgins and Chase remaining as (temporary) weapons for Burrow. Higgins was tagged, and Chase is in the 4th year of his rookie deal and making loud rumblings. This year might be their shot, and frankly if it’s not the Bills, I’d rather have the Bengals over the Chiefs. I also kinda wonder the mood of the Ravens community with a two-time MVP QB and their early playoff exits.

The Bengals playoff game is in my rear view mirror now. I prefer looking forward. Learn from it, then move on.

For those that think this is just KC, 14 of 14, 3 TD's, 181 yards

That is Burrows stat line against us in 3 opening drives. All 3 we had extended periods to prepare for. We are 0-2 against the Bengals and it would have been 0-3 if we finished the Hamlin game. So to think this is just KC or even that the Bengals playoff match up was just us being off our game just doesn't add up.

That playoff game was a head scratcher. We just didn’t show up, for whatever reason. We were flat, and they were physical. (I’m not getting into the drama rumors.)

Having said that, I take some comfort in knowing that Mike Brown is cheap. Cincinnati was my college town and I still have buddies there with season tickets. He is despised. Ralph didn’t know what cheap looks like. Apparently, aside from the way they run the team, they complain that nobody will fix the escalators and stuff like that. I could go on and on, but I don’t see him coughing up $400 MIL in guarantees to put in escrow like the Dolphins did to sign Tua, Hill and Waddle. Maybe they can, but I don’t see them spending where they will need to long term.

This link has some crazy stuff in it about just how bad things were in Cincinnati.

I’m kind of surprised he voted against—I strongly suspect this is all about liquidity for owners like him (and Mark Davis) who don’t have large assets outside his team. This allow them to get liquidity out of an illiquid asset. Can come in handy for things like family succession or divorces even, as well as just general funds for high in the hog living expenses.

Exactly, I’d think the Bengals would be the first team to benefit from having this tool available if needed. They are going to need some cash for guarantees if nothing else.

    .

  5. Having some liquidity for estate planning and facility improvements, etc makes some sense. Kind of like using Josh’s contract as the piggy bank you go to when you need cap space.

My first question is why would private equity consider this? They aren’t in control and they can’t just flip or take it apart and sell it for a profit. Is the cash flow worth the investment? These franchises do not turn over very often, so what’s the return?  Maybe if I knew more about the terms it would be obvious. 🤷‍♂️

We bought some stock in a bank a buddy was with as CEO. He went there to take a healthy but stagnant bank and grow it to get it sold. For a variety of reasons he was only there about 2 years. The PE investor on the board wants things to move faster, but they don’t own enough to make it happen. I agree with that PE firm, the time value of money is not nothing, so the NFL PE guys will find a way to make it worth their while.

I have no control over this, so I’m not going to worry about it.

You realize that a significant percentage of NFL players are borderline morons who can't put together a coherent five-sentence paragraph, right?

…and some of them probably don’t like getting trucked or hurdled by a QB.

This may be one of those things where you love it when “that guy” is “your guy.” My college basketball team has had some guys who would have pissed me off….if they were on the other team. But we LOVED them!

Von Miller isn’t a cap drain?  Departed players aren’t sucking up our cap room?  Those aren’t facts?

From your post: “questionable on field leadership and a weak offensive philosophy to flourish now is unrealistic.”

We don’t know who will step up as leaders, and I’d like to at least SEE the offense before declaring that the offensive philosophy is weak. THOSE are not facts, they are your (predictable) opinions about something that hasn’t even happened yet.

It’s a new year, for the Bills and every other team. I’ll wait and see.

It’s actually optimism mostly.  Just not for 2024.  After 2024 I think Beane will have a good feel for next steps.  Expecting a team with big holes, salary cap vortices like Von Miller and departed players, questionable on field leadership and a weak offensive philosophy to flourish now is unrealistic.  Realizing this is not pessimism.

You are making leaps in judgement, not presenting facts.

I'm posting on a Bills forum about the Bills. You're picking on a Bills fans life on a Bills forum as being dismal because what, you don't like this topic ? I'm sure you can focus on the WR's are way better this year thread if you don't like this one.

“We” are going to play the games, and we will see how it goes. I trust that WR is a high priority. How and when that happens, I don’t know.

If this is the case, ok. I'm on board with injuries playing a role. But christ, Milano is already out, we are one exceptionally undersized LB injury away from looking pretty darn close to last year. One WR injury away from total depletion. If injuries are the reason they seem like they're already creeping in that direction again and we haven't played yet. You can't have depth everywhere, but LB and WR were not that hard to see as far as potential issues if an injury or two happened and we didn't exactly load up either position with even quality depth.

Is every aspect of your life this dismal?

Let’s play some football first. Not just go full freak out mode prior to the opener.

It isn’t just bad breaks. We have one of the worst defenses in the playoffs over the past 5 years and there is enough of a sample size to say it isn’t just a coincidence.

Tre White (TWICE), Von Miller and Matt Milano say hello. That is just the beginning, but it’s a long, ugly list. Did YOU chip in as a DB last year? Stuff happens.

I don't want to mess with it when I'm getting ready for work, but I make it when I get home.  It's an OCD thing for me. All I do is pull the comforter up and make it neat.

Can I bring my two Goldens over to spend the day at your place?   😊 They have their own beds all over the house, but they love OUR beds. The only furniture they are allowed to get on. We love our dogs, but they shed a damn puppy per day.

I had two Goldens when I met my wife, so it was a package deal. My dogs then were jealous and protective of me, trying to stay between me and the wifey in bed. Funny. And unsuccessful.

Now? The dogs who know us both equally just ditch me as soon she comes home.  🤷‍♂️

I don’t think the gate to Heaven has a box to check regarding what time you made your bed. You may be cutting it close, but I think you are in by a technicality.

they fly charter flights. They don't have other jobs, make connecting flights or worry about luggage. They are picked up on arrival and taken to hotel where they rest and meals are provided. They are young and in shape and will be ready to play. Adrenaline and emotion take over. Are teams tired when they play at 8pm when they normally play at 1pm?

I maintain landing in London on a Thursday morning for a Sunday game against the (home) team who’ve been there for a couple weeks……..

    I’m sorry. I caught myself!

people also B word “too soon to judge”.

How and when would you suggest evaluating the GMs judgment on a pick?

I wouldn’t evaluate a GM over a single pick. The draft is hit or miss, so I’d look at his overall body of work.

  15. When we first got married I tried to be a good sport and make the bed. No hospital corners, but neat.  It wasn’t to her satisfaction so she’d come around behind me and tidy it up a bit. I gave up.

Decades later she’s worse about it than I EVER was! The bed is “made” 100% of the time, but it’s not exactly ready for inspection.

And yes, there is a sheet on top to make it easier to accommodate for the dogs and their shedding.

Then if this season Colemen doesn't turn out to be what they thought he would & Xavier Worthy continues to be the player e was in college, and was sitting there for the taking only for the Bills to trade back, that will not look good on Beanes draft resume for the WR position .

We need to get past the Chiefs and their grabby DB’s in the playoffs when the flags don’t fly. Coleman is more physical, so he seems to fit our immediate needs better.

I also would not be too quick to judge Coleman after a single year. He may take a little time.

Lmao. Cant do much worse lately. Its also wha they get paid and trained to do. We have more misses than hits. Think about that. Its why our roster is where its at right now

We all knew this would be a tight year on the cap, a “get well year”, if you will. And we still have the 7th best Super Bowl odds in the league. Yeah, we’re pretty terrible.

Obviously time will tell, but I think this last draft is going to fill a lot of holes over the next few years. I really liked this draft, especially if Keon can focus 100% on football and improve his route running and separation. I’m also optimistic about next year with more cap space and plenty of draft picks. My second favorite team this year is anyone playing the Vikings! 😂

Get on Big Tree  Rd (20A) and take  it to Abbott north.  The only place you can go is Hammer's or the residential street across Abbott from it before the road is closed.

That would require a left hand turn into Hammers, exactly what I was trying to avoid. As @Just Jack said above (with a helpful link to a map) I need to take Southwestern, turn right on Abbott to go south for a right hand turn into Hammers. It was a hassle last time trying to turn left off of Abbott. Either way, it will have to be plenty early.

Yeah, thanks but no. I’ve been burned before. I’m not sure what went wrong.

no price difference. Prime will get closed pretty early this year as it doesn’t look like we’re gonna fill up the 25 spaces or so. I’m trying to remember and past years but I bet it’s closed by 8 AM.

I apologize but I don’t see a better place to ask this question: I know roads close on game days, so is there a GPS location I can shoot for that will then allow me to take a right into Hammers? We had a helluva time turning left into the lot. I’ll be coming from Williamsville. I had my wife jump out and she got Mead to stop traffic. Looks like I’m alone this year. I’m a big fan of keeping it simple.

I did the same but against a guy who had just left Giants training camp as an OL. Was playing prop. I was playing lock. Long day pushing, lol.

I played second row behind a prop who NEVER washed his practice gear. I’m not even sure if he washed it BETWEEN seasons. Get that ripe stuff warmed up and you could gag a maggot!

I apologize, I’ll go vomit at the thought now.
