  1. I was in a celebrity home in Atlanta when it was listed for $25 Million. Amazing place on 17 acres on the river. Oprah had a room there, and Obama attended events there. The celeb had $42 Mil into it but was willing to take a loss and move on. It sold for $17.5 Million…..to a televangelist. I’d like to hope that he was born with a silver spoon, or some other acceptable explanation, but I am skeptical.
  2. I was at a game in OP sitting next to a young Jets fan who was by himself. With each beer he got a little bolder, and a little louder. He was harmless enough, but eventually became so obnoxious I had to warn him with “look, we’ve gotten along just fine, but as soon as they hit me with beer or anything else they might throw, my patience for YOU will be gone. I suggest you get your act together. You don’t want ME siding with them.” He seemed surprised at first, but to his credit he behaved the rest of the game. I honestly don’t think he understood how that could have ended, sadly. At the very least we were about to have some ejections.
  3. We’ve got steaks going, and I’d LOVE a nice peppercorn sauce with it! 😋 Chef Thomas Keller (The French Laundry, Per Se, etc) said in his MasterClass that salt (and acid) are used to enhance the flavor of what you are cooking, while pepper is adding a flavor or changing the flavor.
  4. I LOVE the Christmassy colors!!! 😋
  5. Excited, INDEED!
  6. My wife’s family would all simultaneously rip into every gift and it was all over in a couple frantic minutes. I insisted we adopt a practice my sister would use: the Opening Chair. One gift at a time, and the person receiving the gift had to be in the designated chair. It slows things down so we could enjoy it, and it pissed everyone else off. It was AWESOME! 😂
  7. Growing up it was all about “the stuff” we’d get, as much as possible. It was like candy at Halloween, more is better, even if you have no need for it. Now? Quite the opposite. We got some stuff for family and grandkids, but nothing more extravagant than a new bike to fit the 10 year old. I got my wife one gift, a coffee mug with a funny panda thing on it. She loves pandas. 🤷‍♂️ Of course, she got a new car last week and we have some furniture being delivered next week, so there are no complaints from anybody. I don’t want “stuff” for the sake of getting stuff. We went out yesterday and she took me to a store I had not been. I got some clothes and she didn’t have to wonder if I would like them or if they would fit properly. That makes it easy on everyone. I will be thoroughly surprised whenever we can get the family together to open stuff, as it is not on 12/25 these days. We celebrate when holiday travel plans allow. A few years ago my sister and her family said NO GIFTS, all year. No birthdays, Christmas, Anniversary gifts, etc. They took the money they saved and put it towards a Christmas trip to Paris. It didn’t cover everything, but put a pretty good dent into the expense. I thought that was a great idea!
  8. Anything to keep Europe happy!!! 😂
  9. Speaking of Peacock, does anyone know if my son can use our log-in info to watch tonight…...without kicking me out? I think it will be OK, but not sure and I don’t want to learn any unpleasant lessons at an inopportune moment. Then wife planted that seed of doubt and now I’m a bit anxious. Against my better judgement we just signed up for it. I justified it by telling myself I DO like Dan Patrick in the morning and the free version is delayed one day. If I don’t get DP live on the $5.99/month version, I’ll just cancel unless there is a chance the Bills will be in the playoff game they own.
  10. One time in college I took a buddy home with me for Thanksgiving. We had a wild night and closed the bars, not an easy feat. On the way home he rolled the window down and started hurling out the window. Mostly. Somehow he managed to get some down inside the door, and that stank stayed with that car for quite a while! And then some. Our family voted 3-1 to name one of our dogs Bailey. Unfortunately, Bailey was the name of a red headed girl with pig tails who threw up in my MiL’s car when my wife was little. They could never get the smell out so they traded the car in. That’s when I learned that my wife has veto power in that type of situation.
  11. I used to drive a buddy home from work after long days working as a fishmonger. I never got used to that smell, and my car took a few days to get over it. Regardless of weather, the windows were down. 🤢 🤮
  12. Whatever happens, I bet it happens pretty quickly.
  13. Ehhh, I mighta’ done that. Can you tell me which county and state?
  14. I swear, these hookers and blow dealers seem like straight up peeps. I get Christmas cards from them!
  15. Little known fact: the guy who named it was actually originally from that planet, and he thought it would be funny if we called it that.
  16. Great! The big old Super Jinx!!! Or….is it the reverse jinx? 🤷‍♂️ Or maybe a terrible Chris Breman imitation? .
  17. I have yet another problem with the NFL and the Competition Committee here. If the rules say a team can only have shade structures if the opponent has shade structures, but they are already in the shade, we have a fairness issue. Once again, total BS. Just like “home games” in another team’s second home and jet lag “experiments”. Stuff like this can decide who wins games, and advances to the playoffs. Even I read what I’m typing and it feels like whining, but it’s real. It does not appear that the league cares about “competitive advantage” stuff like this. If they don’t care, I care a little less.
  18. It’s not EVERY year, but our cards are frequently compromised at this time of the year. It’s probably happened half the time in the last 10 years, always during the holiday season. It just seems to go with the territory, unfortunately.
  19. No, do not mess with Carlin, lest you run the risk of having to explain the joke. That’s never good. The “average person” would get stuck on “the mean”, and not know enough to laugh. 😂
  20. I said I had to draw the line somewhere. There’s all kinds of stuff on either side of the line. And sometimes the line has some curves to it. And the occasional crack.
  21. I think we have barely peeked into the hall closet. I say we get smarter, keep looking and see what happens. We are NOT as smart as you think we are, I’m afraid. .
  22. It’s really not the money as much as the hassle and the feeling of a “this is what you will have to do” attitude, again. It just rubs me wrong for some reason. But somehow I’ll see the Bills game, and that’s obviously the easiest and cheapest way. I certainly can’t deny that!
  23. Take out wings can get soggy on the way home, at least they are less than ideal. I don’t want to deal with all the oil, so I’ve done a simple s/p then onto the grill. The top rack or indirect heat to avoid flare-ups, then toss with some Frank’s and it’s not bad eating.
  24. That’s funny, because that is exactly what you are doing. Does she say we have blind spots and limitations? So we can’t really know. Why can’t you concede that?
  25. I completely understand where you are coming from, but I have a question for you: How many MORE streaming services are you willing to subscribe to? If next year you had to add another stream, would you do that too? How about if it’s 3 more? Will you get them all? Is there a limit? Let me be clear, this is NOT about money at all for me. It’s about being told what I have to do to watch a Bills game. I got YTTV for the Ticket, I kept my satellite dish because it’s the only place I can get NFLN and it gives me NBC which is currently in a dispute with my provider. I have Prime for those games. I’ve played the game long enough. I suppose they want to push the envelop as far as possible to see what people will put up with and pay for. I am quickly approaching my limit with all things NFL. I’m watching almost nothing but the Bills games now. The London experience turned me off on the NFL. The Jags have been playing in London since 2013, yet the Bills lost a home game and were subjected to the jet lag “experiment”. I think it was Matt Hasselback recently saying how difficult it is to play in OP. THAT is a home game. This affects the integrity of the competition, IMO. Even who lands makes the playoffs, quite possibly. They also took out the good field and put us on a garbage field, the worst Von Miller had ever played on. I’m not looking for sympathy, I have no use for that. It’s my choice. I’m just venting that the NFL is pissing me off with their greed. I had a buddy who stopped watching the NFL after a strike in the 80’s. He just got sick of it and changed his ways, kind of like how I have become with the NBA. I LOVED the Braves back in the day, but my interest has gradually faded to where I don’t even watch the NBA Finals now, and I don’t miss it one bit. There are a lot of other entertainment options out there. I don’t know what I’ll do in this situation because I actually like Dan Patrick in the mornings. I listen to him on radio now because the free Peacock has his show delayed a day. (That was not the case until a few months ago.) I may try paying for a month to see if I then get his shows live because a Friday show on a Monday morning after a weekend of games does me no good. I certainly don’t need MORE content, and I don’t like being told what I have to do. Rant over….for now.
