Rd 3, Pick 89 (25): LB Terrell Bernard, Baylor
Brother Hesekiah replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Owuso-Koromoah had a RAS score of 8.71. Bernard had a slightly higher RAS score of 8.87. We can split hairs on athletic measurables all day. They're both undersized, rangy LBs with a nose for making plays. But one went to Notre Dame and got talked up in several mock drafts in the months leading up to the draft. -

Question for the draft experts here who don't like the pick: what makes Bernard so much different from the athletic but undersized LB prospect Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah from last year? I think a lot of people would have been thrilled with getting in the 3rd round (he went in the 2nd). Is it me or is name recognition the biggest difference? -
What does Allen work on this summer?
Brother Hesekiah replied to Meatloaf63's topic in The Stadium Wall
Tom Brady has worked with a personal throwing coach every offseason for two decades. It takes constant work not just to get to that highest level, but to stay there. -
Why Your Team Sucks: 2021 Buffalo Bills
Brother Hesekiah replied to Captain Caveman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
💯 I used to really enjoy his writing, but he's been insufferable for the past 5 years or so. I generally can't stand anyone from the old Deadspin staff anymore. -
As others have already noted, trashing Bills players is cheap/easy way to drum up engagement for people whose job is basically just peddling hot online sports takes dressed up with some made-up (sorry, "proprietary") statistics. People like the PFF guys, Aaron Schatz, Cian, etc. know they're playing to an audience and will post this stuff hoping for a reaction. The best response is to not engage. I've muted or unfollowed most of these guys and haven't missed them. If more people did the same, they'd probably move on to fanning another flame. To be clear, I still follow plenty of football people who are skeptical about Allen and the Bills. But they tend to be more credible/established and willing to acknowledge when Allen/the Bills play well (e.g., Dan Orlovsky, Geoff Schwartz).

I liked Marcellus. He was a solid player for us and seemed like a good guy to boot. But he loooves to hear himself talk. IIRC, his post-game locker room comments always got a lot of play because the reporters would barely have to ask a question for him to get started on another monologue. I wasn't surprised to see him in a studio gig post-retirement, and I think he'd do pretty well as a sports talk radio host.

Good article on Josh (The Ringer)
Brother Hesekiah replied to Da webster guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's pretty balanced, bordering on positive. It said he came into the league with several question marks, made significant improvements this year but that he still had a ways to go. Also talked about his character/work ethic, particularly as it relates to improving weaknesses, which suggests that the writer now thinks he can continue to improve. -

Agreed that most people aren't making it personal, as in having something specifically against him as a person. But a good number of people are so wedded to their pre-draft takes that they're unwilling or slow to see the real improvement that's taken place. Also, how many times out of 100 does a small-school, 56% passer with Josh's physical skills and "intangibles" make it? I bet you the number is higher than 1. There's more to scouting than the stat sheet. -

Mays has been one of Josh's detractors over the past year and a half, so it's nice to see an even-handed article from him. -
Exactly. I didn't see any jokes about Joey Bosa holding out so he could buy more grillz, for example. I'm a longtime lurker on this board and enjoy reading it because the quality of comments and civility is generally much higher than what you'd find on other forums. Jokes like this are disappointing and belong in the comments to Facebook articles or Youtube.

The BILLS won games because they had a top-5 defense in 1998 and 1999 and Flutie and the rest of the offense did just enough not to lose. In addition to letting Flutie go, the Bills had to purge their roster after the 1999 season due to salary cap issues. They missed the playoffs for 17 straight years because management was never able to restock the cupboard after that. Flutie correlation is not Flutie causation.

I actually had zero expectation of the Bills winning that game, and was probably just as frustrated at halftime. But I would have known better than to post my rantings before the game was actually over. Still, kudos for coming back to respond. Most people would have hidden for a week and then started posting again as if nothing happened.

Too many people put their thoughts up on this board like chimps flinging their own poop against a wall, and then are nowhere to be found when they're proven dead wrong. What do you say, OldTimer1960? Care to re-visit the thread that you started and take your medicine?

I'm confident that Chan's knowledge and experience will embiggen the team's offensive production.

Actually, Trent ran to the end zone to congratulate him. He was a few seconds behind the other players who mobbed TO first. -
Or just stop posting altogether.
